I'm in as well, back for my 2nd time at IM AZ. We have a vacation house down there so my lodging part is easy and it was really REALLY nice to be away from the race frenzy (10 min drive) so don't let proximity be your only guide.

So far training has been going well and keeping me busy - my coach is definitely working me harder this year so I certainly hope a big PR is in store :-)

Hey Everyone,

Training is going good.  Right now training for an Olympic in March and the Marquee 1/2 in April at the same site as IMAZ.  Took care of lodging through VRBO.  Found a very nice condo about 15 minutes away for a very reasonable rate 3br,2 bath big enough for the whole support team Laughing.  Hope everyone is doing good and staying healthy.

No Marathon for me, but doing a half in May, then a half ironman in June, July, and August. Not sure about Sept and Oct yet.... probably rest a little at the end of August and then do another build into Nov and IM.

Look forward to meeting some of you guys in Arizona (first time in AZ for me)

Hey girl!  Good to see you on BT! :>D

Thanks! I'm so bad about posting!

Training is going great here. After doing multiple 1/2IMs before AZ last time, I am keeping the early part of my year nice and light with a bunch of Olys before a September 1/2IM. Lots of OW races planned as well. Had a tri-turned-du this past Sunday that rocked. VERY happy with my decision to stay off the long distance stuff till necessary this year.

I'm training for the Wildflower Long Course at the end of April, training is going well so far - riding lots of hills! Plan to take May off for vacation and rest and then I start training with a coach for IMAZ in June. I decided to break the year up into two "seasons" to avoid getting burned out. So far, so good.

So, yeah, umm..I guess you could say I broke it up into two season.  Ironman Season 1 and Ironman Season 2.  Not sure what came over me....haha!  I've got the CA70.3 ONE WEEK FROM TODAY (2 March)--holy racing batman. Then IMCdA in June. Then recover, then IMAZ.  I think I've made IMCdA my "A-" race of the year and IMAZ my "A+" race of the year.

I'll see you at both races.  :D

Doing CdA as my first (my dad is doing it as well), then AZ with my brother (his 4th), dad, and a bunch of friends.   Should be quite a party.   It will either be an attempt at retribution, or a fantastic PR.

Training for the Big Sur marathon May 1 - and then the Vineman half in July.  Gonna try to throw in some shorter races in and around, but this is a busy year for my kids (2 graduations!) .....therefore, me.

Ok why to far done on the list.  Considering the 30 week "Be Iron Fit plan". Seems a little light on the training to start.  I am also looking at the BT plans.    What plans is everyone else using?

I agree.  I am also still building base but if I go with the 30 week plan it should start next month.  With this plan I am worried about burn out and it starting a little on the light side with the bike and run.  Just curious what others are using.

I too am confused with the lack of post.  Maybe others are concerned with earlier races.  Happy training Velcromom!

I've been focused on IM Cali coming up this weekend.  After that, will be doing my first 100 mile run in June, which has me a little anxious.

Then it's all IMAZ.   Should leave about 5 months of focused training.

I am probably different than most (as I don't consider myself a triathlete, just a person that needs big challenges) but I started training for this a while ago. Wanted to give myself 16 months to get ready. This will be my first, and probably only, IM. I am 7 months in and have no feeling of burnout nor will I get it. This is a HUGE GOAL, and I know I can stay focused. I hired a coach and have been slowly working up my mileage. I'm running the St. Louis 1/2 marathon in 2 weeks, then planning on Effingham 70.3 in June, Lake St. Louis tri (oly) in Aug., then IMAZ! I've never felt this good in my life. I find that focusing 1 day at a time keeps me motivated. My coach only sends me my workouts 1 week at a time so I can't look too far ahead. Hope this thread picks up pace in the near future. Happy training to all!

I started training back in January.  I've using the BT 1/2 plan for the Marquee race on April 10 then will take some time off from structured training and then start with the BT IM plan.  I feel like the strategy is working great so far.  I did an Olympic distance race last weekend and had a great race.  Body is feeling good and so far happy with the year.

I am not racing at all over the summer.  Where I live it gets to 120 over the summer.  This will be my first IM and plan on sticking to the plan and seeing how it all turns out.

I'm doing whatever my coach throws at me, which is on the big side right now - wheee! The joy of being stronger than last time around :-) Lots of other races along the way this year but the focus is on IM with everything we are doing.

I'm focused on training for Wildflower Long Course right now and will start private coaching in June for IMAZ.

Did head down to Lake San Antonio to ride/run the Long Course this past weekend (I did the Oly at Wildflower last year) and had the most miserable ride of my life on Saturday. It poured the whole ride and the winds and hills were merciless. I'm so glad that IMAZ is a flat bike course!

I will use the ironfit plan (competitive version). starting a week early so the oly and him prep race line up with the plan.  Over the past couple of weeks, I have been "acclimatizing" to the ironfit routine.

This is my second IM, with my first being IMAZ 2010.  I am looking forward to overcoming some mistakes from last year.

Happy Training to all of you....

Chris

Funny, I just found this thread.  It showed up when I dropped IMAZ into my race log.

I'm in for this November!  I have dedicated this whole year to get ready for it and to set a PR (third IM).  My first goal was to drop some extra weight to get faster this time around.  The second, was to get a better base.  So far so good on both.  Down 25 lbs since Jan 1, and been really solid with training.  I have my first set of races in a couple weeks...
