I actually hope you're the wave directly behind me... that way when you catch me by the end of the bike we can get off together and have a true showdown! Now that would be freaking awesome!

Please get your final bets in this week is less than two weeks away. betting thecaptin gets you 5 extra mins!!! You can also take side bets of cube with 5 mins vs phat, and phat vs shanks straight up on the run split. 10$ from phat to organ transplants if you win, 10$ from you if you lose. also, you get to see phat or thecaptin eat a pace of paper and buy beer for the winner. This is a win win for everyone. And if you dont feel like betting, go register to be a organ donor!

This has gotten more complex since last time I checked in. Just saw the Captin killin it in the pool though... I think he is putting his times as slower on his log so you'll get overconfident

I haven't met you guys yet but I love the smack talking. It reminds me of some guys that I used to race that would do the same back and forth with each other before, during and after races- all in good fun. One of them always used to stomp me on the bike- but I was a faster swimmer than him. He would catch me on the bike and ALWAYS do something ridiculous as he passed me- like make a race car noise, or ask if something was wrong or stuck in my wheels, or the one time when he came by me resting on his aerobars, facing me with his head laying in his hand (arm up, elbow proped on aerobar) casually whisteling as he rode by me...

Good fun- Good luck to you guys- I don't know who I'd pick just yet.

Pick one runatlanta. Why not stick with thecaptin like everyone but Mrs Brown Dog (and marvarnett who hedged)? Give me more fuel for the fire. I'll show the bunch of doubters what the phatman is made of!

the problem is phat is not going to make a ridiculous noise as he passes me...he will laugh, taunt me with a "kickin your azz and it is only going to get worse", some pleasantry to make the day complete.  Yup, alll in good fun.

Since the captin is on my team, I will bet $10 on him.  Plus, I've seen him at Monday night swim practice and would not want to swim against him.  Not sure what he will bring on the bike and run, but that extra 5 minutes might just win the race. Wink

And yep, my driver's license says I'm an organ donor. So does my road ID.

I will put my dough on Slayer. I mean I work out with him a couple times a week so probably not in my best interest to bet against him. Although 5 mins in such a short distance...

Jordan, if you want thecaptin, bet thecaptin. Reminder to everyone, he is a former collegiate swimmer or at least close to it, and my OWS pace is 2:00 per 100 so its feasible that he could have 8-10 mins on me starting the bike. why not bet that? Do you honestly think I can make up that kind of time in 13 mi on the bike and 3.1 of the run? I'd bet thecaptin if I was you!

sucker bet Jordan...There is a reason the house always wins in Vegas...Slayer is the house.  While I was a swimmer in college, this bet will be won or lost on the bike.  Period.  I have to have legs from the heavens and Slayer needs to have an average day.  By the way, I have blown the swim at Tanner the last two years.   Will I finally get it right?

Tough decision....

Had a cancellation at work so I took the liberty to determine at 14.3 miles the following times results at the following mph:

35:45=24mph

37:18=23

39:00=22

40:51=21

42:54=20

45:09=19

47:40=18

So lets say thecaptin has a great bike at 21 and I have a great bike at 23, I will only have gained back 3:13 of 8-10 minutes. The rest will have to be made up on the run. THats a no brainer there for the captin. In actual fact, I'd need to ride 24 and he will need to ride 20 for me to make up 6 mins. There may not be much left in the tank for me to run 19 min 5k after so he'd only have to run sub 24 to hold the lead. dont let thecaptin phool you. with 5 mins spotted, then a decent swim for him, he's still the better bet as most everyone here has recognized.

Ok so i guess i better bet since i might have a front seat on the paper eating part of the bet

I'll place a bet on Slayer winning because after posting all the split times and convincing everyone how Captain will have better swim times plus the five minutes added time i came to two conclusions

1) either slayer is crazy confident that he will win

2) or he is just crazy

Either way i like the crazy part and it's going to a good cause so i'll bet on Slayer winning

By the way getting very nervous about the race should have nice weather at least

Look you fellow peach staters, people are dying everyday because most people are ignorant about organ donations. your bet is not to win money or to make thecaptin or me (or cube or shanks) feel any better. you are laying your $ to save lives.

what better way to jazz up TTp-Tanner? we have a chance to help. if you or a loved one was dying and needed an organ, you'd not hestitate to chuck 10$ into the kitty. this is a great opportunity to help and if you bet thecaptin, and he wins, i will pay the donation.
