Malgal - 2011-05-09 11:30 AM So, I discovered a website called onread.com.  You can read books online for free.  It took me no time to read it.  I have an iPad so I was able to simply turn it on, click on my browser and the book was right there where I left it each time.  I am in big trouble now that I have found this website.  I am sure there are tons more where you can read for free.  You can download for a price but I figure we have Amazon for that!  Oh, I finished the book in no time.  I will save all comments until it is time to discuss it

Thanks for that info! Now I've started the book too. Having a very very hard time getting into it though. I already skipped to the end. Does anybody else do that? I always skip to the end of the book after I read a few pages.

Thanks for that info! Now I've started the book too. Having a very very hard time getting into it though. I already skipped to the end. Does anybody else do that? I always skip to the end of the book after I read a few pages.

I had a really hard time getting into it, too.

And although I have skipped around a bit, I haven't read the end yet. I did say earlier in the thread I am a notorious not-in-order book reader.

I often read the first and last pages in the bookstore, though.

I'm not having a hard time with the story and content as much as I am the contradiction in writing. Jack is 5, sometimes he talks like a 3 year old but then he pulls out words like paralyzed? Obviously he is smart and I get that he is bright and can do math and read above his age but one sentence is written with 3-4 year old words and the next sentence will have adult words.

They have a TV so he has seen and learned a lot but some things he knows about I don't think he should. It's just annoying to me.

 ETA: I would probably read the end but I don't know how to do that with the Kindle and not lose my spot.

This is exactly what was bothering me too.

I don't want to start the discussion yet so I will just say that I think this is explained during the course of the book.

Probably not much different to a library, since you cannot download without paying.

And to whoever asked, no, I don't ever, ever skip to the end of a book.  I have probably only twice in my 42 years quit on a book that I couldn't stand.

I don't quit on books frequently, mainly because I choose them so carefully, but it's probably five or six a year. No use wasting time on something that is preventing me from getting to the next awesome book!

Still reading it and it really did pick up! I couldn't stop reading last night and stayed up until 12:00.

This book gave me nightmares last night ... it was ... weird. Not scary  necessarily, but obviously my brain was still engaged in the story while I was sleeping!

This is me too though it is more like 1-2 a year. I don't get time to myself to read very much with this huge brood of mine so my reading time is very valuable - I am not going to waste it on a bad book. The last one I didn't finish - Eat Pray Love - just could not get into it, tried two different times and I just could not click with the character and had zero interest. Thankfully I had borrowed the book so I just gave it back to my friend.

Loving that we are seeing this the same way. I wonder if we are on the same page literally! LOL

Now don't let the book interrupt with training or Book Club is over.....

That's too bad. The best of Eat Pray Love is the last third of the book, which takes place in Indonesia, of course

I don't necessarily read books in sequence anyway, and EPL I only read the Bali, Indonesia part to begin with. A few months later I finally got around to the Italy and India parts.

No, but I shall mosey over to onread and see if it's there. Any parallels with Room?

I just finished Walk Two Moons, a young adults Newbery book, which is told from the perspective of a young girl.

All of this, and Room, are very helpful to me as I'm editing my novel, at least half of which is from the perspective of a young girl and the rest as a young lady.

Absolutely no parallels with Room.  I just picked the first recommended book that I liked the sound of.

I loved "the Help" even though the ending was a bit unrealistic.  You'll have to let me know what you think.

I would love to read a novel by Yanti.
