i use the website daily burn .com for my food tracking (and workouts) but I have not been faithful at it. I might have gotten lazy but I guess I need to step it up a notch. |

I am not severely limiting my calories or starving myself, but I did change some behaviors (eating smaller meals every 3 hours, 1 soda a day limit if that, no after dinner "snacks") and it seemed to take a while, but once the loss kicked in, it's seeming to accelerate (I keep thinking about those diseases for which rapid weight loss is a symptom :^) Guess it just took a while for the metabolism to kick in? The most important thing I am learning though, is that the way I perceive myself doesn't seem to change even 10 pounds lighter, like I thought it would. Funny that.... Wow, Chris - nice drop! You know, I found that for me, it took awhile on my new way of eating before the scale started to cooperate. I think my body was waiting to see if I was seriously sticking to this and once it realized that I was, the weight started to move. Maybe your's is the same way? ;-) My wife just started a weight loss program with a doc. Like we often do, she ate like cr#p the two days before starting, then ate clean and weighed in that day at the doc's office, +3 #. She was angry cuz she ate clean that day!!! I just shared with her my experience, that it's about consistent good choices over the course of a period of time, not a single day of good or bad eating. As an aside, I am pleased to report that I am no longer obese by western medicine BMI stds I am merely at the top end of overweight. I never thought I was obese, or that badly overweight, but accdg to BMI I need to weigh 192 - THIRTY THREE MORE POUNDS - just to be at the top end of "healthy." Quite frankly, I think I would look sick at that weight. |

Those BMI scales are a joke in some cases. I am on the verge of obese. 3 of my 6 IM's I was considered obese with the other 3 just overweight. I use to run marathons around 3 hrs in the middle of the overweight category. I guess I can only imagine what i might be able to do if I lost the 60 pounds to get down to "healthy" weight. |

Oct 2 - 187.2 Oct 8 - 185.6 Oct 16 - Oct 23 - Oct 30 - Goal 180. Didn't get much excersize in this week. But did manage to stay out of the fast food. I found that tracking my calories make a big difference as it make me aware that most fast food meals are 1200+ calories easy.

Master 2429 Falls Church, Virginia | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Oct. 2011- The Pounds are "Falling" off! I have been actively trying to lose weight since the beginning of August. And so far so good. But I have been stuck lately, and I'm not too happy about it. And I hate that when I feel bad about my weight my natural instinct is to eat comfort food and curl up in bed. Which of course, does not fix the problem in any way!! Sorry, I just needed to take a quick ride on the whaaaaa-mbulance. All done now! |

Member 50 AL | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Oct. 2011- The Pounds are "Falling" off! Just stick with it. I lost 55lbs from 225-170. I had several plateaus, eventually I broke through. The lowest i was was 167, i maintained 170-174 until I broke my clavicle and had surgery. I said I need food to recover properly, so I gained back up to 187. Stick with it, it gets easier. steve |

What would you say is a good weight for you? Your numbers seem to line up with mine. I am 6'0 and in great shape around 175 but have been hanging out north of 200 for the last 5 years |

Talking BMI what a joke of a concept if ever there was one, especially when I was reading over the weekend the just before his first Mr Olympia win, Ronnie Coleman was apparently "obese" according to BMI !! AT SUB 10% BODY FAT I do not think so. Will try to find the article again and link to it, it went through a numer of current and former sports stars in all sports from BB through track and field etc who all rated as obese in their prime !! |

Veteran 351 | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Oct. 2011- The Pounds are "Falling" off! well, something is "falling off" but it's not the pounds ....it's definitely me, off the wagon. Week between Sept and Oct challenge: was SUUUUUUPER busy with work (like 12+ hr days), stressed, ate like crap. 10/5: 173.5 (up from 170 the week before) Then I did a 5 day road trip to TN - lots of BBQ, road trip food (read drive-through and beef jerky), friend's wedding (read awesome food, more awesome cakes and pies, followed with open bar) 10/11 (OK, not Wed yet...I'll check in tomorrow too - hopefully better): 178.3 !!! My goal for this month is to get back to 170! I'll take a maintain month because this month has tons of stress, 5 day road trip to TN, my birthday, next weekend is girl's cruise to the bahamas, renn fest w/ my best friend, and then a cooking party with church. I'm re-starting again, and hopefully will not "fall off" any more this month! |

Member 50 AL | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Oct. 2011- The Pounds are "Falling" off! If I go much below 160 I look different, maybe not bad, but the women at the office say I am too skinny. I am 5 8", at 225 i was a porker. Now at 185 i still look fat. I think 160-165 is ideal for me. If I can stay out of the fast food for lunch, I will be set. Sometimes work gets the best of me. If i dont plan my meals I "fall off the wagon". That has been the key to my weight loss. steve |

Hard couple of weeks and then unwinding with some friends, lots of food and drink! Now I have a cold that is impeding my workouts. BMI is a joke, I am 6'3" and would need to weigh in under 200 to not be over weight, that hasn't happened since high school! Once I trim my waist I could care less how much I weigh! |

Veteran 351 | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Oct. 2011- The Pounds are "Falling" off! ohh - and another vote for "BMI sucks" In my profile picture, I am 1/2 way between "overweight" and "obese" - at size 4 (and my goal weight) Right now (at a WHOPPING size 8/10), I am "morbidly obese" according to BMI... to be at the top of my BMI scale, I'd have to be a size 0 (and with my hips, that's never happening) - to be at the low end of my BMI range, I'd have to lose a leg... |
