Captain Brian,  thanks again for organizing the challenge and taking care of all the admin details, letting us know where we are in needing to reach or goals / get back to the front.  Aloha everyone back east!!

Thanks ... but showing my true Ole Miss colors/Excel fat-fingers by faulted by a tiny little formula variable!

Rode 17 miles today ... 7 of which were hill repeats. Legs (quads) are smoking!

Have I mentioned that Im humping it this week?  I decided to commute home from work yesterday, and then needed to get in more time and hopped on the trainer.  I commuted to work again this morning and woke up early to get in more miles   I will meet my goal darn it!!

Woo hoo!  Commutting home is something after a day in the office ... commutting to work is awesome.

Once I saw your first post on 'zero tolerance for slackers', I knew that you would finish your goal - even if you had to carry your bike on your shoulders for ~6 miles in your socking feet!

Incidently, I corrected the formula in the SEC spreadsheet ... you have officially bumped us up over the 40% threshold - and where as a team we were just behind the pace mark for week 2, we are now just in front of it!

Go TEAM South (+ our Hawaiian brothers)!

Ok- I feel really stupid.  I was looking at my training plan and realized it doesn't include the last week of March on it.  So I was freaking out thinking that I only had 1 more week for the bike challenge (after this week) when actually I have the entire last week in March.  So...I guess there's no need to back off my biking.  I'll just keep on biking and maybe I'll end up over my goal, which would be good.  I just feel stupid I didn't notice the last week in March.

I feel I owe the team an apology...but I WILL meet my goal, I promise! I fell off the wagon for a week, but I'm raring to go now. Team SEC will kick a**!

I've suffered a setback, unsure how much of one yet. I reinjured my fractured ankle (happened in November) on Tuesday night. My orthopedic surgeon put me in a walking boot and wants it immobile for a minimum of 3 weeks. He said I could try to cycle after a week as long as I kept the boot on. Not sure how that is going to work.
Anyway, I may have to pull out of the challenge so I don't pull my team down. I'll let you know after a few more days when I try to get on the trainer

Oh no- I hope your ankle gets better.  It's better to be safe and follow the doc's orders.  Don't worry- I won't hold it against you if you have to pull out of the challenge.  How did you re-injure it?

In the last half mile of a 6 mile run Tuesday, it rolled underneath me in a loose spot on the trail I was running on. Just stupid luck.

Per the rules, it looks like I can pull out or modify my goal for a major injury. I would like to lower my goal to 10 hours, if this qualifies per the rules. Or I can pull out all together, since I don't want to drag the team percentage down should I not be able to make it.

Let me know

Seb:

Bummer about the injury ... do what the doctor ordered and do not push it.  We have a looong season in front of us and you need to heal well for it.

Under no circumstances should you feel like you let anyone down.  Shoot, you took one for the team by being injured during training.

If after a day or so it appears that the 10 hours is not going to be a realistic goal, then you have to stay a part of the team albeit on injured reserve and be the team's designated beer drinker ...

cbost2678 - 2006-03-19 2:28 PM Only 62 miles. I have been sick since friday so I only got half my workout in yesterday.

There's been a flu bug going around ... half of Atlanta is down with it (and infecting the other half!).  Weather is also turning - colder and rainy today.

Thank goodness the weather held off so I could do my long ride of the week.  Week totals = 70.54

The first couple miles after cycling were @#$% tougher than I thought they would be.  Given that the season is right around the corner, it might be a good idea to add a mile or two after each long ride as the season to get your leg (re)used to the transition from the bike to the run ...

43.8 for me this week. I'm still hanging in there just like the Tigers. They don't have a chance against Duke this week, but I will not give in - I'll make my miles.

20.74 miles for my week 3.  only got one outdoor ride in which is what i had expected.  i'm at 91miles for the month with a 13.5 mile bike leg in a sprint tri next weekend, so that'll put me over my 100 mile goal for the month.  if it keeps raining here in hawaii, i'll have to add ski's to my wheels.....
