Coastal Carolina | Subject: RE: MAY "You MAY Pick" Challenge--ALL WELCOME! Sure I'll jump in on this as well... 1. Get weight under 170. I think I'm in the 176-178 range now, will have to check in the morning to finalize it. 2. Do some sort of S/B/R, non-work related, at least 26 days this month |

My goals have less to do with Tri and more to do with life...Goal #1 is be of service to others. Too wrapped up in my own carp lately, when I have it pretty darn good. I will do 1 task for someone else each day of May. Goal #2 hmmmm something to do with gratitude. Not too sure how to quantify that one, will have to think on that. I guess I could just be grateful for something each day of May, with no repeats... This post is bringing tears to my eyes! Totally what I'm working on, too ... if you noticed from my blog. Anyway, I'm reading a selection from the book Attitudes of Gratitude by M.J. Ryan every day ... I think such things have as much to do with health as S/B/R/etc. Oh and ... I think service is gratitude in action. Agree. |

Veteran 227 | Subject: RE: MAY "You MAY Pick" Challenge--ALL WELCOME! bzgl40 - 2012-05-03 11:49 AM I'm in. I set goals every month but only have myself to be accountable so that is not going so well. 1) run 4x's a week at a minimum 2) only eat ice cream twice a week max -> seems easy but it's not, and also means I am done with ice cream eating for the week. I am in awe of goal #2, one which I have tried many, many times. You are the master!! |

Regular 1893 Las Vegas, NV | Subject: RE: MAY "You MAY Pick" Challenge--ALL WELCOME! I'm in! I have a Sprint tri this Sunday in which I'm going all out, then I'm counting next week as lost in case I really do go all out and need recovery time lol Then starting my first of 21 weeks of HIM training (without counting that "lost" week plus 2-week taper so it's really 24 weeks). Have a goal of in those 21 weeks: Lose 17 lbs. Train myself to a HIM. Write a 100,000 book (which works out to just 681 words a day every day for 21 weeks). So if I start May 14th that's 18 days. So by the end of May: I've been trying to write a book since I was 9 :\ So now that I've found I'm disciplined enough to train for and finish an Oly and now I'm roaring to go for the HIM, trying to see if I can apply that to the writing. |

TriAya - 2012-05-03 12:37 PM I think such things have as much to do with health as S/B/R/etc. Just wanted to mention that SBR has nothing to do with health. We left health a long time ago and now we're just injuries trying to be avoided lol Some light jogging, some leisure biking, some laps in the pool, Zumba, walking, some strength training, 4-10 hours a week, ~3 times a week.... we passed the "we're trying to be healthy" a long time ago |

Coastal Carolina | Subject: RE: MAY "You MAY Pick" Challenge--ALL WELCOME! TriAya - 2012-05-03 5:51 PM So is this challenge going to be the Manatees vs. everybody else?
I'm game for that, I think we might be at a bit of an advantage and I like it.
ETA- I had to upgrade how much weight I need to lose to hit my goal, apparently a week off after the HIM relay shows on my belly. Also got my 4th day of continuous training in today! Edited by Tripopo 2012-05-04 7:34 AM |

Another Manatee reporting for duty, ma'am. Goal 1 - 250 miles on the bike. That'll be about 40 more then a month had held in a while. Goal 2- ????? It is either to read the 7 Habits book or to give time to a local homeless shelter. Probably the book, but the other has to start again for me. |

Extreme Veteran 536 | Subject: RE: MAY "You MAY Pick" Challenge--ALL WELCOME! Manatees, ho! With our powers combined, we can. . . do good stuff? I'm in. I think both my goals will be fitness related, since I've fallen off the training wagon, have my first sprint in 10 days and need to stay on track for the other two tris I have planned this season (including my first Oly at the end of August). My goals (I"ll fill in the google doc too): 1. Do one yoga OR pilates routine each week. 2. Exercise on Sunday (which I currently do not do, which is devastating to my training!!) 3. (i know, it's supposed to be 2, but completing all three will be quite a coup!) Attend ALL my paid-for training sessions, unless I have a LEGIT reason to miss (e.g., work meeting, work travel, genuine illness), which include: Tues/Thurs AM swim; Wed evening track; Thurs. evening cycling intervals. Yanti, how is it that someone with typhoid fever has the time to do all of this? You are an amazing woman, and I'm so glad I stumbled across Yanti & Salty's Mad Manatees! (And I'm not going to lie, the name almost scared me away...you kinda sounded like weirdos, lol. And I wasn't wrong. But you mad manatees awesome.) |

The challenge is up to 25-26 people now, I think, so it'd be cool to have teams. I might name them the Manatees and the Sharks and let people pick which one they'd rather be ... heh. |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: MAY "You MAY Pick" Challenge--ALL WELCOME! Dang. I had cake this afternoon -- but it wasn't a cupcake. (Just a technicality.) And it was at a retirement reception . . . ARGH I have another retirement dinner tomorrow night. Discipline. Discipline. Discipline. I skipped dinner to make up for it -- at a banana about 30 minutes ago, so I'm good. (I thought about dipping it in Nutella, but I resisted.) But I'm already making progress on the weight part, so there's something. :-) I love hearing about your goals, especially those of you who are kind enough to think about what you can do for others. |
