Veteran 406 Salt Lake City | Subject: RE: Television We have cable only because my husband MUST watch the Kansas City Chiefs (we live in Utah so they never play KC games on local channels) and every Laker game. And it's easier to order PPV UFC events through cable (we've tried both UFC and NBA through the Roku and the streaming just wasn't good). We watch lots of sports but almost no shows. The kids watch nearly everything through Netflix, which I love because then they don't see all the commercials about crap that I'm not gonna buy for them. |

Pro 4277 Parker, CO | Subject: RE: Television Late to this thread but I don't have cable or satellite for almost 3-months now. I have HDTV antenna and get most local channels. However, really don't watch much other than Survivor and the morning news. I had Hulu but I think it sucks! I do watch programming on Netflix and have found there is a lot on youtube. I have the kids 2/3 days a week and they keep pushing me to get cable but so far I have held my ground. Working out OK so far but next fall it might be difficult when football season starts. BTW...I have no problem with people watching TV. I just don't like paying the price of cable. |

He was getting fatter from season to season. Had to switch it to Food vs Nation so he didn't have to do all the eating challenges himself. |

The last food network type show I watched was some kind of cupcake competition with a nautical theme. They made cupcake sculptures that had seafood in the batter.. Seafood cupcakes? that's just gross. |

I don't care for scripted TV. We watch mostly stuff on Food network, Bravo, A&E and yes, I'm completely secure saying it, MTV. Yep, that is our favorite show. If we see a chef with a restaurant in a town we'll be visiting we write it down so we can visit it....unless the chef's dishes suck Hubby (who does most of the cooking) has gotten some great ideas from the show. We watch so much we can almost always guess what the judge's critiques will be and who will be chopped. Someone really needs to start a Chopped thread because like LB's original post said, I don't watch any of the shows that have their own COJ threads. Have you seen Chopped All-Stars? It's on Sunday nights at 9. They have four episodes with Food TV personalities, the Chopped judges, non-chef celebrities, etc. The four winners duke it out in episode five and the price is $50K to the winner's charity. This week's is the non-chef celebrity round and I'm excited to see how amateurs will do with the mystery items. Sometimes we armchair quarterback so we'll see how tough it actually is for the average home chef Riveting!!! Hey, I knew squat about cooking. After watching Chopped I know slightly more than squat about cooking. That's called education! You know, a real person cooking real food. How'd it go? I ate burritos and tacos whipped up by some relatives that are in from Ca. I was going to video it and then watch it later, but we ended up playing dominos instead of sitting in front of the TV.....a good evening. Earlier I took the kids to ride in a sanctioned Time Trial.....I'm afraid they missed their shows. |
