Jhouse,
Do you know if that is nation wide or just that dealer?

Thanks,

Transition S works or the Pro/Comp/etc?

The SWorks are out there but I have only found 2 one in NY and the other in NC. The computer screen that I saw at Kozy's in Chicago showed mid April for the delivery of Pro/Comp.

If anyone wants a SWorks, I have located several complete bikes around the country. PM me and I can point you to where you could find one for purchase.

I did a test ride on the Transition Pro.  I know they keep pushing back the release dates but a lot of the S-Works are already out and I've heard they do have delivery coming on a few Transition Pro's but you're probably right about the date push back to mid April.  At my buddy's shop they have the S-Works with Zipp 404's selling for a little over $8,000. He co-owns Rock N' Road Cylcery and are a premier Specialized dealer so I'm going to call him and confirm the reports about the release of the Transitions.

I would be interested to see if the story that I have been told is the same story that they are saying to everyone else.

(**this is what one bike shop as told me could be false** )

Specialized thought that they could make a frame in one day and had built there production/ordering model off of this. The frames are taking 3 days to make and they can’t make them fast enough. Apparently they also have more orders than what they can possibly fill for the '08 production year. So some people may be getting an '09 bike not the '08.

One bike shop in Denver said that they had ordered 80 bikes of differing models. They were told by Specialized that they would only be getting 50. I still have my name on a waiting list for the Transition Pro module, if it comes by July, I will build it up for IMOOO. Meantime, I got a P2C frame and fork and will be building it up with the parts that were intended for the Transition.

I called my friend Greg, who owns the shop, yesterday and he wasn't around.  Ironically, he called me today and left me a message telling me he had good news....I will be one of a few who will actually get my Transition Pro next week!!  He told me that he had to pull a lot of strings but will luckily have it for me next Wednesday.  He too confirmed the reports that they didn't expect the production of the bikes to take this long but also says that they focused their interests elsewhere but did not elaborate.  Anyway, I hope Specialized get's those bikes out soon rather than continuing to push back the dates.  Good luck!!

I'm wondering if Spesh is ever going to get these bikes out the door...

Anyone lay their eyes on an "actual" Transition Pro, Elite, or Comp yet?

Yes, my Transition Pro is at the bike shop already and it looks better in person than in pictures.  Just a beauty!!  I'm waiting for my ZIPP 404's to come and final bike fit before I bring her home.

I have. It's a work of art. Ron, JeepFleeb, and I saw one in Colorado when we went there to do the video series on Power and Aerodynamics. Mark Cote, who runs the wind tunnel tests also works for Specialized as a designer and had one with him. It wasn't built up when I saw it, it was just the frame, but it was beautiful.

I was left with one stand out quote from Mark: "People shouldn't be asking how much a bike weighs, they should be asking how aero it is."

I have one and Omega as one as well (PRO model)... Look for my post called bike porn, I am going to post more pictures this weekend. Apparently there were 20 that were shipped out early last week and they went to shops that had already sold them.

Specialized only realeased a few of the Transition frames as I was very lucky to get mine.  My Transition was supossed to come as a whole but the LBS said he could only get the frame. He had all the same components to build the bike which is why I recieved mine early.  Specialized is behind on production and only have some of the Transition S-Works out with the Transition Pro and models below being released and delivered in late May and now maybe June.  Specialized bit off more than they could chew expecting the production of the frames in 1 day when in reality it took 3 along with being inundated with orders.

Being in manufacturing for a long time, when ever I hear of start up problems, orders moved out, demand outpacing production, and taking longer than expected to build the product...the first thing to worry about is the quality of the product.

There is hope afterall!

I've been patiently waiting, hoping, even dreaming that one day I will get THE phone call from my LBS. "Your bike just arrived!" Hopefully that day will come sooner than later.

BTW-That is one Very Nice bike... please post the pics when you get them built up.

You guys made my day... Thanks!

Which s one reason why I NEVER buy the first generation of ANYTHING or preorder a new product before it comes out.

That said, this bike is damn sexy...

Well yet another delay in getting the 08 transitions. As an update i ordered mine back in January, was given a date of mid-March for delivery so i swung by my bike shop and had them call Specialized yesterday. Now they guarantee that i'll have my bike by mid-May and if i'm lucky maybe late-April. Very bummed about that, the rep made the comment that they have already sold more bikes than they intended to make for all of 08.

I'm dissapointed in Specialized, my LBS was also trying to get a waranty replacement on another guys mtn bike, they have been putting them off for 4 months because they don't have any of those frames either. Sounds like a company capacity issue.

It's funny (not HAHA funny but ironic funny) that Specialized is having supply problems since our LBS dropped Scott because of  the same thing with the Plasmas. I got tired of waiting and bought a Felt DA.

Specialized is a good company but I don't think they anticiapted the enormous response they recieved and being inundated with orders.  You're right about the capacity issue. That's bad business on part of the operations not to be prepared but the reason why they keep delaying the arrival of many of the orders is to ensure the quality of their construction.  What I heard from a Specialized rep was that they'd rather be a little behind on delivering a bike or a frame than to deliver something with poor quality.  I hope you and everyone else waiting for a Specilaized has a bike arriving soon as I really enjoy riding the Transition Pro I have now.   Good luck!

There are 60 transition pro's that are being shipped next week (got that from a specialized rep). He also told me (several weeks ago) that if you are waiting on one, your chances are better of getting one if you have a deposit down on it or paid in full. Those orders will be filled first. Omega and I were lucky enough to get a couple of the first shipment of 20. I had mine paid for last August and I got mine mid Feb. I know its discouraging but good things come to those who wait.

How long do you think one would have to wait until they hear back?  I just don't want to sit around waiting and wondering what is going on.
