Has anyone done an IM with a 40 mile loop before??
Trying to wrap my head around how crowded it will be with 2300+ riders on that loop at the same time. Thats over a 55+ riders per mile (1 rider every 28 feet)..... Gonna be hard to police drafting on that bad boy...

Is it wrong that I've hardly done crap all week long? This weekend was supposed to be my last long ride/run, but I've totally slacked off! I'm headed out for a run, but it probably won't be too long. It's getting hot out there!

Just got back from dropping my bike off for transport out to St George. It's weird to think I won't see her again until Friday before the race. This shizzit is getting close!

#2171. Did the Rage in the Sage HIM yesterday as my last extra long brick, lots of elev on bike 4,000' and run 600'. Tried to focus on not getting into the race atmosphere but using it as a supported brick. My legs are a bit weary today, looking forward to taper!

74 degrees sounds perfect! I just hope the cloudiness doesn't translate into too much wind to affect the swim (meaning I don't want it cancelled).

cayrip - 2010-04-16 7:38 AM #1319 also checking in.  I am also 10 lbs shy of my goal race weight which will hurt on the hills but gravity will give me a slight advantage.

Any big plans for a BT get-together pre or post race?

I have a house, thinking I can host a get together.  When would people prefer?

THURSDAY

or

FRIDAY?

Thursday for me.

Now it says thunderstorms, so who knows. At least the temps look good even if it is wet. Let hope for a dry window on race day.

It's been PERFECT in Vegas the last 3-4 days.  High 70's and no wind...  I know we are still 2 weeks out, but we can cross our fingers the weather continues.  One good thing about these parts, weather is pretty consistant.

However, anything would be fine except for rain and/or wind.  Temperature or clouds don't bug me.

Someone mentioned 10lbs over race weight.  Same here.  I would love to be around 230, but hovering around 240 right now.  (Idealy, I would LOVE to be 210 - but I would be scary skinny at that weight).  I'm hoping the next couple weeks of pre race eating, will drop 4-5 of those.

Either day for me.  I will be wandering around solo the whole weekend, so I'm free just about any time.  BTW, I have a car since I'm obvioulsy driving up from Vegas, so if anyone needs a ride to the expo/dinner/whatever, maybe we can hook up.

Either Thursday or Friday would be fine for me for a get-together.  Just need to know well in advance, since I suspect my dad would use that time to get out and do some sightseeing on his own and may want to make some plans.

So...let's say its a rainy bike ride - any suggestions on clothing?  Is it warm enough at 75 degrees to just race in your tri-top and get wet, or do you suggest a jacket to repel water?  I know it's likely a personal thing on cold tolerance but what are you planning to do if it's raining or seriously threatening rain when the bike begins?

All I can say is if it rains, I hope it rains even harder the day before - get some of the oil off the roads.

I think the biggest issue for me with rain on the bike wouldn't be the 75 degrees in the early afternoon...it'd be the 58 degrees or so heading out on the bike in the rain after an hour-plus in the water.  I'll consider throwing on my cycling rain shell if it's truly miserable.  Otherwise just tri top and bite the bullet, probably.

Trash bags work as short term, not sure how that will work in the race environment though.

I plan on having what ever extra stuff I might need in my T1 bag. I will just leave what I dont need in the bag. I am going to be wearing a regular cycling jersey so the pockets can stow a limited amount of items. I am also doing a full change in T2 and I think I can manage the ride wet. The run wet and in the rain I have yet to figure out.

Most importantly, if you like to enjoy a nice cold beer after the race remember to BYOB.  All beer sold in Utah is 3.2, might as well suck up some more of the Sand Hollow Rez as drink that weak crap.

Hopefully the cola they give us on the run will actually have caffine in it.

Has anyone seen anything that addresses the cattle guards?  or is that going to be the designated lawyer viewing area?

When are we talking about getting together?  Thursday before the welcome dinner and then going to the dinner en masse?

I had conditions like that for my first IM.  I just had arm warmers and toughed it out.  After you get going and heated up, it wasn't bad.

As of right now there only calling for a couple hours of rain.  Maybe we will get lucky and it will come during the heat of the run.  The forcast will surly chance a couple times between now and then.

Um, is that Sue person still lurking around?  Wanna do anything about this forecast of rain?  You IMSG people had better get up some tents or something in the designated racer staging areas.  I don't plan on sitting around wet all day!!!

I've been looking at some of the training rides on Garmin Connect, and it does have me concerned most people are doing the 112 ride in around 6:15 to 7:15, which works out to about a 15-18 average.  For those who have done the preview, Is that about right?

It rained all day at IMLP in '08 when I did it.  Leaving T1 I thought it would rain for short time and stop as it had on training rides. It was in the low 70s as a high and got into the 50s later in the evening.

I brought a PVC cheap rain jacket that I didn't put on but should have. I could have ditched it if I heated up as it was about $16. Lots of things you can wear when wet make you colder. Having some options is good as riding and being cold for hours is very unpleasant.

Real waterproof bike wear is often hot. For me if it is under 70 and raining I need something extra on to keep me warm but over 70 I'm good with tri clothes.

Hope weather is great for you guys!
