SteveyD - 2009-09-12 5:15 PM evening nibbs! i'm home and just popping to say hi between unloading stuff
Welcome home! Uh, where did you go though? <--- Obviously, out of the loop. LOL

nah i've been slacking on bt
went away with parents for 10 days to cornwall (south west england)
basically their holiday i tagged along for free got some nice stuff etc all for free and generally abused the generosity lol
interestingly though i was on a beach this morning and there was an aquathon even thing, except it seemed to involve about 8 stages... kayaking, surfboard paddling, running swimming etc all up and down the beach  in glorious sun

just 6 days til first tri, have to work out hard now due to parents failing to pick up my bag of stuff with me to go on hol that had my wetsuit and running shoes, going to go cycling with the local club tomorrow, 40 mile "slow" ride, slow bein13 mph/21 kph pace.

i'm going to falll over flat on my face lol

Welcome backStevey - just a week out wont have hurt your training too much... do NOT over do it this week to try and make up... too late for that!

Do a few confidence workouts to make sure you feelcomfortable with the individual distances in each discipline, take the day off two days before... the day before either do nothing or something very short....

Oh... and that thing on the beach you were watching was no doubt a surf lifesaving competition (believe it or not the big ones - at least here in Oz - are called Ironmen competitions)

Ahhh ok
it looked pretty cool, just there was so many legs it was confusing as to where they were in the course!
they kept calling it oceanman i believe, it was fun to watch, but made no sense after about the first hour because everyone was at different stages!

Artemis - 2009-09-12 8:29 PMThe doc said it looked like it was scarred and spasming.
Ew. Who knew that gallbladders could get scarred, or spasm.....I think you should ask them for a picture of it, so that you can put it in your blog.
lol... When I got my appendix out, I asked to see it. The surgeon did and I don't remember now. I did tell my mom and Andy about it though.

When I was going in for my surgery (ovarian cancer), I asked if they could save the ovaries for me so I could see them afterwards. The answer was "No, but you can donate them to the university's cancer research program." So I did that. They also drew blood so they could try to identify genetic markers for ovarian cancer.

Felt really terrible this morning, so I didn't run.  I rode almost an hour on the trainer instead.  Probably a good call on the not running, even though it means I miss my long run for the week.

Bummer. Did they give you a special diet to follow? If so, how long do they think it'll be before you start to feel better?

At least you did the trainer though. That's better than sitting on the couch watching TV.

I wanted to run this morning too, but my eye is all red and icky. (Not to mention, it hurts.) I don't see anything really wrong with it, but I'm assuming the bug scratched something. If it's not better soon, I'll find a doctor. (It's a new town. I don't have a doctor here yet!)

Any chance it's allergies?  My eyes get like that a lot.  Eye drops help.

As far as diet, very low fat.  There's a good chance it's not going to get better until I have it removed.  It's a matter of managing it as best as I can until surgery.  So, low fat diet and not stressing my liver are the ways to go.  Which is unfortunate.  All the good things have fat in them.

No, it's definitely from the bug that flew into it last night. It's been red and hurting ever since. My eye is all bloodshot and tearing. I assume the bug scratched something. (I don't think it's a bite or a sting, but I guess it could be.)

And yes, all good things have fat in them. Or chocolate. (There's fat in chocolate. But I don't think that's what makes it so good. LOL)

Nice job even with the asthma!!  I hate asthma problems during the swim. They are scarier than while you are biking or running!!
