I was a "quarter-miler" and "half-miler" in H.S., so, by my Senior year is when the system was getting changed over.

I was a long and triple jumper first then I ran whatever else they wanted points in. Normally it was the 100 and 4x100. I did run the occasional 200 and 400 but I had no strategy for it, I just ran. I got sick my Sr year and missed almost all of the track season but league finals. So the schools that were talking to me about track looked at my grades and then said see you after Jr College. I made the college track team for long jump then decided to be lazy and diddent run thinking I would run the next year. I then met my ex and left school and then got fat, Life is funny that way.

Hey TAN.  I'm at work and having a rough day so far.  Still pretty upset about Jeff's death yesterday.  All I can keep thinking about is that he was such a nice guy and didn't deserve it at all.  And that my dad rides that road all the time and it could have easily been him.  It's been kind of rough that way.

On the plus side, my coffee is much better today.  Thanks for the help on that.

I didn't know him whatsoever as I only go to Madison for business 2-3X per year. But from visiting, I can get the vibe of the community.

I'm also not a "hang 'em from the highest tree" to make an example of someone. but the general sentiment is correct; drivers seem to get a fair shake in these incidents. I fought one (insurance trying to weasel out) for a month.

Just unfortunate in this instance. Driver nor cyclist seemed to be negligent. Doesn't trivialize the tragedy of it all either...

I've only met him a few times, but he was always so friendly and helpful.  My dad knew him better and is also really shaken.  I just don't think it's fair how drivers treated.  What if it had been a construction worker the driver hit?  He'd be in jail.  I don't know if that's the answer, but it's scary out there and something needs to change.  I'm tired of people I care about getting hit by cars.

True about the construction worker (and deservedly true).

And from what I've seen of Madison, you have it better than most other towns and cities.

I'm sounding like devil's advocate and I don't want to. It's not fair what happened; I agree. I hope there is an investigation, some discussion and changes come from it. Let's hope this makes a lasting improvement.

I don't know where you got it from, but you can get that on a t-shirt from www.ThinkGeek.com

Think Geek is a GREAT website for the nerd/geek/dork at heart.  If shipping wasn't so ridiculous to Canada, I would definitely have a whole bunch of crap from there.

Apparently I'm supposed to get 30-40 mm (1-1.5 in) of rain by tomorrow.  Welcome to fall.

I'm going to leave early today, because traffic is going to be TERRIBLE.  Why do people forget how to drive when water starts falling from the sky?
