Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() FoggyGoggles - 2012-05-03 11:49 AM I've pretty much disqualified myself from the podium in this little contest, but I'm going to give you all a run for your money. (Business travel will be my limiting factor!) Yeah me too, I'm going to San Fran next week on business. I asked my companies finance dept. if they'll cover bike rental instead of a car and booked a hotel w/a pool so maybe it will actually work in my favor. |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Rachel- You had asked about the accuracy of scales that "measure" body fat percentages. I went and had a "Bod Pod" reading done. From my understanding they are 99% accurate. I was pleased to find out that my scale was off by over 10%! Now trying to figure out how to drop the percentage just a tiny bit more! |

Let us know what brand that scale is so no one buys that one! On the plus side, great news for you that you are that much closer to your goal! |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Squeezed in a 30' ride on drainer after a business lunch - nothing like a workout after a heavy lunch. Hoping weather cooperates so that my daughter's soccer clinic is a go tonight - she can practice and I can run laps. Mark - did you forget to add a S/B/R or were you counting a rest day as a workout? I think the intent is to track the 4 rest days but not include them in total. - Andy: S 2 / B 1 / R 3 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 6 ; 03:44'36"- Gabe: S 2 / B 2 / R 0 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 4 ; 04:46'43" - Mitch: S 0 / B 2 / R 2 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 4 ; 02:52'14" - Marcia: S 1 / B 2 / R 1 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 4 ; 2:46’30” - Scott: S1 / B 1 / R 2 / Rest Day 0; Total = 4; 02:39'00 - Joe P: S 1 / B 1 / R 1 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 3 ; 03:53'12" - Ernesto: S 1 / B 1 / R 1 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 3 ; 03:21'49" - David: S 1 / B 1 / R 1 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 3 ; 03:04'41" - Samy: S 0 / B 2 / R 1 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 3 ; 02:36'42" - Chris: S 0 / B 1 / R 2 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 3 ; 02:15:00" - Markz: S 0 / B 0 / R 2 / Rest Days 1 ; Total = 3 ; 02:14'00" - Jennie: S 1 / B 1 / R 1 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 3 ; 01:45'23" - Jim: S 0 / B 1 / R 2 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 3 ; 1:39'48" - Mike: S 1 / B 1 / R 0 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 2 ; 02:30'00" - Barry: S 0 / B 1 / R 1 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 2 ; 02:07'02" - Ted: S 0 / B 1 / R 1 / Rest Days 1 ; Total = 2 ; 01:30:00" - Jackie: S 1 / B 0 / R 1 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 2 ; 01:16'53" - Rachel: S 0 / B 0 /R 1 / Rest Days 1; Total = 1; 01:01'23" - Adrian: S 0 / B 0 / R 1 / Rest days 1; Total = 1 ; 00:51'00" - MatthewS: S 0 / B 1 / R 0 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 1 ; 00:34'00" Edited by dangremond 2012-05-03 2:12 PM |

The scale I have is Health-o-Meter. This morning before I left I stepped on the scale and it ready as 28.4% body fat. I went straight to the Bod Pod and my body fat percentage was 17.8%, putting me as Ultra Lean, even though I don't think I'm there yet. As for the scale, at least the weight was correct. I found I can go get a Bod Pod reading every few months and it's free here on base. |

They operate by putting a very small electrical current from your right leg to your left and measuring how much gets through. It's just not a very accurate measure. |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Took part in a 10mile bike time trial this evening. Quite pleased with my time. It's not super fast (35min 6sec), but the average pace is pretty good for me, and I had tired legs (DOMS from the weights on Tuesday). We rushed off afterwards because someone was coming to look at the motorbike I'm trying to sell, and then they turned up over an hour late, so we missed out on our planned swim - Andy: S 2 / B 1 / R 3 / Rest Days 0 ; Total = 6 ; 03:44'36" |

Really messed with HR. Could barely slow jog and keep it below MAF today. Ave for the run today was MAF -1 but the speed was REALLY slow! |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Evening everyone! We're having a doozy of a rain storm here tonight. Very fun though my puppy is freaked out - crazy cute! So I've been suffering from tight IT bands and a sore hamstring/glute for months now. I foam roll my whole body whenever I can and it seems that when I rest it's even worse. Not knowing what to do I booked an appointment at this place I saw while on one of my runs called Kinetica. The guy is a chiropractor but does ART and deep tissue massage. This is my first exposure to it and YOWZA!! The most painful massage I've EVER had but he gave me some interesting insights - basically he said my knee was turning in a bit which caused my hip to turn out and stretch my band. He gave me a bunch of exercises to try to see if I can strengthen my glutes and open the hip up. I'm feeling pretty positive about the experience though I'm pretty sore and tender now. Has anyone else had experience with this form of massage? He also advocates bare foot running. One new thing at a time though... |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sort of a swimming breakthrough for me today. I think I'm finally getting a feel for the water. I did 1,000 meters in 30:31 (2:47/100yards) slow by most standards but the fastest I've ever done this distance. If I can build on this through the summer it would easily take 8-10 minutes off of my Olympic Tri swim in August. I also got in 55 minutes on the bike this evening.
