LP was online for a couple of hours last year, but I think this was the longest it's been, perhaps due to IMNY (which has been cancelled) and Tremblant. It may not be online as long this year. |

Glad you liked it both times around! haha Remember everyone - pack extra shorts! I am hoping to expose myself a little less this time around. I actually registered online this year...but like Erin said, it sold out pretty quickly, and with IMNY gone I think it will sell out quickly.

Negative split the course, so feeling good at this point in the season. Looking forward to my mid-week run on Wednesday in the middle of the 6-8" of snow we're forecast to receive. |

Veteran 378 The Cold North | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I thoroughly enjoyed my rest day today - first one in 4 weeks and it was much needed. Recovery week this week, just in time. I'm heading to Curacao on Saturday for a solid week of outdoor training and vitamin D, and hoping for some outdoor riding weather in Canada once I get home. |

Mandy I told a friend of mine to read your blog post from LP 2011, because she's doing LP as her first IM as well. When I linked your blog, she said she knows you from Twitter but hadn't read your report before. Her blog is Marlene on the run. Small world, once you get online. |

Member 206 East Syracuse, New York | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I had my long ride and run on sun/mon. I ran really well (for me) yesterday. I was all excited as I thought I was further ahead of where I was last year...and then I remembered its barely march. I remembered how tired and slow I got last may/june...good times ahead lol. |

It went online for a short time. Not sure how long, and that is rare for LP. You want in show up and volunteer. That will pretty much guarantee you a spot for 2014. |

(in my best boston accent) Hey, saw your comment in your log about the cramps - funny - I experienced the same thing for the first time last week - super painful. Let me know if you figure out what causes that. |

Let me know if you figure out what causes that. I only ever get them on kicking drills and I had fins on when that happened. Usually I get it in one foot and that's it and it's some what manageable but last night was excruciating! And in both feet! In the past I thought it might have been because I don't drink water while I swim on my rest intervals. But the last couple times I've brought some water to sip...and it didn't seem to make a difference last night. It was FAR worse than any other time, that's for sure. I know that's not really much help for ya but just my observation. And I'm wondering if it's related to effort level...because it was a TT last night I was going really hard so the cramps came really hard. *shurg* |

Extreme Veteran 828 North Shore, MA. | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread That's a speedy swim! Nice job. I am missing a 1 hr ride today as I had to take my bike to the shop. It was making all kinds of unhealthy noises, skipping gears and driving me a bit crazy. I am dying to get outside on it soon though, and I'm kind of hoping to bring it with me this weekend when I go 'home' to NY. If the weather is decent, I may feel brave and venture out. Must get in the pool at some stage. Haha maybe I'll save that for the weekend too. Home Y is so much nicer than my usual one. |

I cramped up for the first time in ages last week too. Had a foot cramp on my last few laps, and then as I was leaving the pool my left calf and right foot cramped up at the same time. I was hanging on the ladder and couldn't move. I don't think it was water or electrolytes either, had a bottle I drank during the swim. eta for cheekymonkeys1: ugh, 2-5" of snow tonight. I forget what it means to bike outdoors. I hate winter. Edited by BrianRunsPhilly 2013-03-05 11:32 AM |

Expert 701 Caratunk, Maine | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I missed a few rides last week for the same reason Deborah. My bike was making bad noises so I took it to the Dr. It kind of freaked me out to miss a few workouts, but really, it is better to lose it for a few days now then in May or June! That is what I keep telling myself anyway. I hope to ride outside sometime soon too! AND! I happened to work near my pool today so I SNUCK out (shh) and got 1500 yds in...it was all I had time for (with work and all), and given the pool is 90mins away from home, I will take what I can get! I am dying for the lake to melt so I can get out into the OW (that is only 2 miles away.) But it will be a while...Check it out, it is opening up (PS - that's my dog Porter)...
