I met Zach.  He seems really nice.  He counsels teens and at risk youth...substance abuse and such.

He is good looking/cute, the quiet type, and sufficiently older than me that it won't be an issue.

Instead of breaking out my notes I wandered into CoJ.  Laughing

I haven't gotten any further than the good deed thread...now it is time for me to turn in.  I will get up a bit early, jump start my brain, and go crack open some books in the admin building before class starts.  They have lovely baseboard heaters.

Oh, he is...there was a qualifier in that post.   there is a joke....

How do you know if a Fin is an extrovert?

I had to leave him there.  They have to put them under for the cleaning.  But he was hiding under his blankets and ignoring me when I left him.

Hopefully, he will cuddle with me when he gets home. He seems to forget he's mad at me once he's curled up on my lap.

I finally got around to something I have been meaning to do for the past year.

I love trees and I am constantly noticing this and that.  There is a tree by my friends house that is leaning over the street.  that in itself isn't neccessarily an issue, but when you add other factors...

the sever decay throughout the trunk (you can look in a hole in the base and see light)...

the large fruiting funguses along the lower trunk (by the time a fungus fruits it is matured and will be throughout a large portion of the tree)...

the damaged root system...

the fact that all the branches on the non street side of the tree have been removed...

It is a huge tree-the trunk is 2'+ in diameter.

Anyway, I finally got around to contacting the appropriate city arborist and it is scheduled for an assesment.  I am confident that it will be ruled a hazardous tree and be removed...eventually.

Just heard from the vet.  Little cat is fine and is appreciating all the petting and attention from the nurses at the vet's office.  They had to remove one of his teeth, but it is very small and he probably won't notice.   He gets to come home around 4 today and will be very happy because he gets wet food for a few days.

I just took part of this in facebook and I thought that it could be fun to do here.

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose up to 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag up to 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish.)

The Basics
1.
I am bipolar, OCD, ADHD, and stabilized by treatment. Although considered disabilities, these all contribute to many of my strengths.
2. I am compassionate and enjoy helping others
3. I am brilliant, but sometimes am ditsy and absentminded
4. I am determined and at times can be stubborn
5. I am a perfectionist and have high standards
6. I am open-minded and not judgmental of others
7. I am a hard worker and efficient...most of the time
8. I am a loyal and trustworthy friend, honest and open (maybe to a fault)
9. I can talk incessantly, but I also am a good listener
10. I am a triathlete...and loving it

Fun things that I have done lately
11.
It was awesome having all the snow here. I really wanted to pass the snow experience on for others to enjoy. The thing is, most people here were already overdosed. I thought over all the people I know, trying to decide who a bit of winter wonderland would mean the most to. And I decided...
I made a special insulated gift box and stuck it in the freezer and the morning of the 23rd of December I filled it with snow (after placing in a well wrapped block of dry ice) and prepared it for the post office. I over-nighted it to my BT friend, Mike. From what I hear, there were some really excited girls in Bartow, Florida on Christmas eve. They experienced snow for the very first time, despite the fact that it was sunny and 75°F.
12. I am working on a horticulture degree and beginning to establish myself in the field
13. I installed a Solatube in my mom's bedroom on Labor Day weekend-I made the measurements quite a few times before I took a saw to the roof.
14. I found a tree frog in a pile of snow on rattlesnake ledge. After giving him a thorough lecture I escorted him a mile down the mountain to an area that was more suitable (decomposing logs, ferns, salal, moist soil, etc) I think that the sudden arrival of winter caught him by surprise...or maybe one of the other hikers had carried him up there. I realized after the fact that he was probably a frog prince, but I will never know because I neglected to kiss him.
15. I have done a lot of landscape renovating and my favorite tool (by far) is the mattock. It has done wonders for my biceps.

Other Interests and Activities
16.
Sailing, mostly a 26' soling
17. Quilting
18. Wandering bookstores for hours on end
19. Working with plants and soil, playing in the mud
20. Backpacking, snow shoeing, hiking, camping (snow camping too)
21. Beading-I work with semi-precious stones, pearls, czech glass, crystals, gemstones, and precious metals. I also do some wire weaving, it is limited mostly by the cost of silver.
22. Home improvement-I do it all! (plumbing, electrical, painting, installing gas fireplace inserts, installing new windows, insulation, lighting, wiring...)
23. Romping with the dogs (and chasing geese)
24. Climbing trees, doing just about anything outdoors
25. oh, I almost forgot...I talk to plants and critters. Sometimes they tell me things ( but never verbally )
