G'afternoon team! Got another 4 iles in today bringing my total to 37.67. Only a little more than 7 miles to go for my finish.

Tell you what, it was freaken HOT out there today. Running out in the Texas heat just isn't any fun. I wish I could get myself up early enough to run before I go to work, but that just never seems to happen.  Hopefully I can get a bit of a boost for my races later by training at noon. I would hope that I would be faster when I do run in the morning instead.

X2 - two bricks this week in 95-100 degrees.  I can't wait to go back to work next weeks so I have to get up at 5:15 to go run...

ebshot - 2009-06-24 3:57 PM I am HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!  Big surprise, huh?  What's for dinner everyone?  I'm thinking taco salad with ground turkey.  But I really want some brick oven pizza.

Why did you have say pizza?  Now I am fixating on a big meat pie and some "foam inspecting"

Sorry to have been quiet...  On vacation.  I don't have as much time to post as I do when I am at work

Strained my back yesterday so I missed my run to 100%.  Pulled a short brick today to try to work my way back in.  Back is better.  I will get up early tomorrow and run.  It is too hot to run much after 10AM...

toddg - 2009-06-24 12:27 PM And I got my first stopped & clipped in tip-over completed on the bike. Almost made it a year (Jul 1st) before getting that done in this bike.

It was the first day I've taken our son onto a real public road (we just bike the gated neighborhood normally). Guys were fixing the road/sidewalk intersection so we had to swing wide around them. I was having him then get back toward the sidewalk as there is really no shoulder on this road. He got too close and ran into the curb and stopped. I stopped as well for him to get onto the sidewalk and for whatever stange reason unclipped the right foot (which I never do). Turned the bars right and over I went right into the middle of the road.  Oh well. That's accomplished now.

Welcome to the club!  Don't know anyone who hasn't done that.

I joined the club back in 1987 on my first bike with clipless pedals.  This was just an update to get it done on the current bike. At least I managed to get myself under the bike so it didn't get scratched up.

running4beer - 2009-06-24 2:17 PM I'm approaching the moment of truth here-- one doc says I need ankle surgery (for recurring peroneal subluxation), but I'm getting a second opinion in about an hour. Funny thing is that as soon as I started to entertain surgery, my gimpy ankle didn't seem to bother me all that much! Although I have been limiting my mileage, so that could be it, too...

Hope the appointment went well.  Would the surgery help you out in the long run, rather than running through it and possibly making it worse?

toddg - 2009-06-24 3:24 PM So I've found getting all 10 of my toes into the Vibram shoes is as about as frustrating a trying to get winter gloves on our kids. Why do two toes always end up in one slot?

LOL!  Easier or harder than putting on compression tights?

toddg - 2009-06-24 1:28 PM Also just had my first pair of Vibram five finger shoes delivered today. Gonna be interesting to see how they work out. Read the other various threads here and decided I had to try them.
Ooooo! Let us know how you like them! I just wish they didn't look so... goofy. LOL Also, my 2nd toe is longer than my big toe. Some people have said that's an issue, since the VFF's aren't set up that way....

I think the goofy factor is what's holding me back.  I'm goofy looking enough without shoes with toes

I have had clipless pedals for over a year and I still haven't fallen!  I really wish I would already!  I sure have come close but still haven't tipped over.  Maybe next time!

And also started reading 'Born to Run' last night. Great book, but not one you want to start when you're trying to get to bed at a decent time for an early morning.

I was in Barnes & Noble the other day and picked it up.... Looked like a really interesting read! I ended up not getting it because I really went in to get a copy of Chi Running. I've been reading it (Chi Running), and some of it sounds simple, while other parts sound... well, I'm not quite understanding all of it yet.... LOL

I read Chi running in January and implemented some of the ideas it explained.  I really need to go back and read it again....
