misfit_1 - 2010-03-28 4:35 PM So on my mini-triathlon today, my orthopaedic who told me not to run for two weeks was in the heat before me.  lol.  I tried not to make eye contact, and then at the end, we saw each other and I had to smile and wave.  Knee is hurting now, but felt ok for the almost two miles that I ran.  He got first place overall...

Busted!!!!  That is kind of funny.  Sorry your knee is still hurting, though.

Sorry I was behind.  This weekend was really crazy and I spent next to no time at home.  10k, post 10k party, girls' night, 54 mile bike ride, bridal shower, friend's birthday.  I need a weekend to relax.

I was going to take O Chem last quarter, but decided to wait until I have financial aid again.  I will gratefully accept assistance...there is a $250 text book on top of the tuition costs.

So I've had a great month training wise...I've been on the Twister team in the march challenge

It will be the first time I've been on a winning challenge team.

The group is awesome.

I've also met an amazing guy in the last week and am very very excited.

Hi All,

I've started mentoring Judy (UNCI) through my local tri club. Jen said that it would be OK to invite her into our mentor group. She's starting her 2nd season of triathlon. Please give her a warm welcome.

Hi all,
So I've been somewhat MIA lately myself. I've been dealing with health issues and a possible stress fracture in my left leg (so my genius PT bro told me) so I've been really struggling to get my training in. I am less than 3 weeks from my first tri and am freaking out I won't finish, etc. Luckily this is a new month and I've gotten my stomach issues figured out so hopefully I'll get some energy & motivation back to finish strong for my tri. Glad to hear that you finished your 2nd, 3rd? tri Kim. And hopefully for the rest of us that are struggling with injuries that we all heal and can make it back outside soon.

Beautiful weather wishes to all!

Oh, I hope it's not a stress fracture!  Good luck - I understand the freaking out as I've got the Ragnar Relay in 6 weeks and am starting from square one again due to the IT band.  But I went for my first run (ok, second if you count the tri (and it was the 2nd tri!!) which I kept at a short 23 minutes and feel good. Stretched a lot when I got back and am hoping that I don't feel any pain tomorrow.  Maybe if I just keep adding a couple minutes each run, I can ease back in...

...here's to the new month, and fresh starts again!

x2 on hoping it isn't a stress fractures...the recovery process is slow and frustrating...just because you can't push yourself much...at least in my experience.

WOW, y'all have welcomed me so graciously and I haven't said anything yet. Thanks so much. I'm 56 years old, married, have 4 daughters and 5 grandchildren. I am fortunate to not have to work right now. 'course this really helps with training. I can be out there when no one else is and at the pool when it's quiet too.

I was next to last in my first and only Tri but I had so much fun and really felt good about finishing. I picked this Tri because it was a pool swim. I thought doing a Tri was enough without adding an open water swim. This year I'm scheduled to do the Columbia MD Iron Girl and the same Tri I did last year. I'm training with one of the training plans from Beginner Triathlete. I'm so lucky to have a great Tri club and my personal mentor, Nicole.

I am very slow but I don't mind. I have Fibromyalgia which causes a lot of aches and pains. It limits my stamina and any changes to my daily routine causes more pain. So when I started training it caused lots of aches. But once my body got used to it I found that if I stopped training I also hurt. So now I have to keep going. I can't believe I'm doing this but I'm having so much fun. Thanks for letting me in the group.

The fact that you finished that first triathlon and have kept up your training despite all that pain is an indication of what a strong person you are!  Reading what you wrote is a little extra inspiration to keep patiently training through my own injuries and I know I'll get back to full speed eventually!  Happy to have you here Judy!

Welcome!

I'm doing Iron Girl in Syracuse just a couple months before you... and I aspire simply to finish, and would happily cross LAST even. So congrats on your first (but NOT last) Tri.

I'm in awe you're doing this with fibromyalgia, definitely puts my pain in the butt (piriformis) in perspective. And glad I hit the pool this morning instead of wimping out!

So I have to brag a little, and feel this group will appreciate it... but I scored a free treadmill this weekend (a Horizon) from the neighbor of a friend who is moving and just wanted it "away". It was brutal moving, and will cost be a couple bottles of wine in thanks. But I am so-o-o-o-o pleased at the probable demise of my Gold's membership. That place stanks.
