Wow, big time runners this weekend.  2 marathons and a 10 miler!   Way to go Roni, Tony and Doug.   Roni I'm glad you decided not to run back to back marathons.  That can't be good for the body.  I know you are going longer but that is all in one shot.  Way to go on the trail marathon -  hard core.

Tony - woo hoo!!!   I am so excited for you.  That sounded like an extremely challenging course with all those people.  I wonder if that added to your stress level on why you felt like zone 4 all the time.  Regardless, that is a very impressive time.  And for your next one.....Disney marathon is still open for 2010 and I know a very cool person running!

Doug - was the course very crowded?  I run on the Tobacco Trail all the time and I can't imagine holding a race there.  I thought about you on Saturday in the rain - as I put my feet up and drank a glass of lemonade on my porch  Wink

Linda, wow sweety I can't imagine going through that.  You had better hear from the National Guard and the Fair organizers SOON!!!  Is there even a police report?  So gland Connor is home and on the road to recovery.  My offer still stands on anything you need.

I went for a bike ride yesterday!!!!!  I know that doesn't sound like a big deal but I am so burned out on running that I decided to join my husband and my usual riding group on their recovery ride.  It was so much fun!!   I got to ride the TT bike - can't believe I've had that thing so long and only ridden it 4 times.  It was super fast but now my traps are so sore.  Haven't spent that much time in aero in quite a while.

editted for my speedy women mix -up. Sorry Roni Laughing

Nice job Tony and Doug!!

I mentioned Friday that my neck was sore after a yoga class.  Over the weekend it got worse and worse, to the point where I almost passed out just picking up my kids yesterday.  When I first started mt biking, I lawn darted off my bike and shattered my helmet.  This hurts worse, though it is improving.  Currently trying to make an appointment with a chiropractor.

Moral of the Story: Take new activities slow and leave the headstands to break-dancers

I'm guessing there are about 12 people at my gym that would've paid even more to not have seen it

TrevorC - 2009-10-22 12:15 PM one final pedal question....

I have shimano road pedals right now. If I pick up looks and throw them on my other bike, could i use the same cleats and go back and forth between bikes?

I don't think so....  Best bet is to buy a pair of "CHEAPER" shoes for your trainer bike, and those pedals....

trevor these have been popping up on bonktown the past few days.  pretty cheap.  no idea about them other than some internet reviews.  just a thought.

edit.... this is a pretty dumb post considering you might not see this is the next 22 minutes.  lol!  anyways, if your interested in a cheap pair of shoes as steve suggested then bookmark bonktown and check it once in a while.

wow with 8,000 riders you might have people finishing before others get started. Crazy. Sounds like great fun though. Can you imagine what a peleton crash that would make. People and bike parts for miles. Maybe it coould be a Guiness Book of Record

LOL!!!  Nice catch.   How about the write up.  LOL!!!!

The stretchy and super-breathable Cutter Tech Knickerbocker saddles up when your ride isn’t quite spandex-worthy and flies under the style-radar when you’re not in the saddle. These ergonomically-fitted softshell knickers fend off light moisture and won’t restrict movement while you pedal. The Tech Knickerbocker’s ¾-length cut stays clear of your cuff-tearing chainring and the articulated fit pulls functional duty in the saddle, minus the fresh-from-the-Tour look when you meet your crew at the bar. Lock your U-lock in the Tech Knickerbockers back pocket snap for a safe ride downtown, and thank the Polartec Power Shield softshell material for its weather-shunning radness as it starts to drizzle on your way home from the bar. Should you take the occasional tuck and roll across the pavement, Polartec Hardface Technology has you covered with outstanding durability.

Morning everyone.  Hope everyone had a good weekend.  I am just about finished with my really busy days at work.  We had our last big three day tournament of the year this weekend and another event yesterday so, I am a little tired, yet excited.  As I have said before, I have had some motivation issues since Augusta, but I think I could see one of the reasons why - because of work, I knew I could not get into a regular training schedule.  Now that my long, busy days have passed, I am feeling recharged and ready to get back at it.  Unfortunately rain is in the forecast for today, but I am actually even looking forward to jumping on the trainer!

Another thing I have found since Augusta is that I really don't like the foods that I used to before I began my training(as in really unhealthy stuff - food from certain fast food places).  I just don't like the way I feel.   I "rewarded" myself for a month now by eating whatever I've wanted to, but it just doesn't taste as good.  I think I am heading back in the healthy direction and make it permanent.

It looks like we had some great races this weekend.  As expected you guys did awesome.  Roni, is... well Roni.  Congrats on a "good training pace run".  You are one heck of an athlete.  Tony, congrats on your marathon!  That is awesome man! Way to dig deep even when you had nothing left to give.  A marathon is a huge achievement.  Doug, great job on the 10 miler.  1:38 is a great time.  Sounds like you had a fun time and rocked it.  Both you and Tony must have been well trained considering you both only had minor soreness the next day.

The marathon I am considering also offers a half in February.  I think I might do that one instead of doing the full.  I am going to follow Jorge's winter cycling plan and think it may be a little too much for me to do the mary.

What other races are on everyone's schedule during the next few months?

Hi Chris,  glad to hear you are ready to get back in the saddle.  I made the mistake of showing Jorge's winter plan to my husband and now he wants a power tap so he can follow it.  But to be honest he wants a power tap and has found a million reasons why he needs one.

He and my daughter are building a bike together - this is going to be interesting.  He found the frame with a few parts included on e-Bay and now the interesting part comes in.  Last night he found a pair of $400 HED Jet 50 race wheels and was trying to convience me that we needed to buy these for my TT bike, then move the wheels from my TT to my road bike and give my daughter my wheels from my road bike.  I love the logic of men!

Chris

Glad you had a good work week and are settling back in.  I am feeling a little unmotivated right now myself.  I have been running a pretty good bit, but really not doing too much biking.

I think I am settling in on the Jorge's cycling plan myself.  I need to get a trainer, but will probably alternate between the spin bike and riding outside on my loop...i think I can get it done out there.
