Is wussified a word? I like it though....It can be used in so many different situations. For example, "When Dick got married, he became wussified."

Seriously though....If its crappy riding conditions, remember its really early in the season and you don't want to hurt yourself and put yourself out for the whole season trying to be unwussified!

You can get or make studded tires for your mt bike.  Not sure if its worth the investment, depends on how deeply you've been wussified.

Yeah it should be ok, I just assume it is going to be a 7 mile mud pit, but if others can do it I can too, I am pretty good on the mtn bike but never actually tried to race it.

Unfortunately I have not yet started to review the last several pages of posts here.  I'm sure you are all logging some great  time and miles, so Way to be everyone!!!

On my side, I finally logged some time in the gym today.  Wooo Whoo!  I'm stoked to finally get in there.  All is good here on the homefront, Baby and momma are doing great, Big sister is adjusting very well so far and I'm sleepless, but motivated to get moving.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement.

Jeremy- please post a pic of baby Sophia!
Holly--wtg on not letting life get in the way of workouts.
Tony-you're going to do great...the muddier the better, it makes laundry so much more rewarding

I'm having a great day today, just relaxing the legs as much as possible, skipped my swim to rest a bit and took the dog for a nice walk out at the beach this morning. Yesterday, not so good, as we had a shoplifter in my little shop. It makes me so sad (angry/p.o'ed/wanna kick some bootie) that someone would steal from us after all, we're just trying to make an honest living. Anyhow, it's been awhile so I guess we will treat it as another learning experience (paranoia is there for a reason)== to be more diligent and keep an eye out for these individuals.

deep breath...done. thanks for the good wishes steve

Redknight - 2009-01-29 1:31 PM Today I am going to pick up a dead pig and make salami out of it tomorrow. How's that for exciting. Trevor you will notice that

Now that sounds like the diet of a seasoned triathlete!  I have a pig cooking planned myself for the summer.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Woo Hoo! i survived.

That was a lot of fun.

Start temp was 20 windchill 12.  The course was covered either ice, snow, and a bit of mud here and there.  I couldn't even take my hands off the bars to start my watch it was so slick.  People fell within 10 feet of the start line..  It's actually hard to type now because my hands are cramped up and I finished a couple hours ago.

It was 90% single track so passing was tough, you had to sit behind whoever was in front of you until they fell then you could pass (this happened alot).  Going around wasn't much of an option because that's where the bad ice was.  Even on the trail there was plenty of ice, you would be following someone along and zip, they were off in the woods.

I was very proud of my 10 year old, mistreated, too small for me hard tail.  We climbed stuff that alot of others had to get off the bike to do.

Was also proud I didn't drop my bike once, hit the family jewels pretty hard on the seat once but that was about it.  I did not clip in at all which I think helped on the not falling because there were plenty of times I hit ice and was completely out of control but was able to put my foot up to push off a rock or tree to get back on track.

I think I finished in about an hour and a half, not sure.  I could have gone alot faster but that would have probably led to some falls, I just stuck on the wheel in front of me most of the time and went that person speed.

Once they put times up I will do my full race report.

A beautiful family Jeremy. Well all excpet for the unshaven bum in the pics :-) I'm sure you will have a ball watching your girls grow.
I have 2 girls and it was great. At least until they went through puberty then I was scared to death. It was about then that I took up karate

Jeremy--I love all the pictures.  Your daughter is so caring and that shot of you and Sophia melts my heart.

Tony--AWESOME job.  You found a way to take a lemon and turn it into lemonade.  I hope all the parts are in working order tonight.

Me, I done for the month.  I had a reasonably good run today and am optimistic that I am getting my running health back.  The next couple of weeks is going to give me a chance to indulge something esle I love to do, hike.

To those that still have races this weekend, GOOD LUCK!  You know who you are!

Jeremy congrats again, great pictures.

Thanks all.  I know they took a bunch of pictures out there but probably will take a few days to get them.  I ended up putting up my RR even without times.

Jeremy ... great pics.  Looks like quite a crew there.

Tony... sounds like a great day.  Way to hang in there.

Suzy ... Awesome month.  As I have said before, your consistency is right on.  Hope you have a great trip.

Just got back from a 25 mile ride.  Was going to run today, but one of my buddies wanted to go out for a ride.  It was a beautiful day to get outside...around 55 and sun.  ny.  We were planning to be out for 2 to 3 hours, but had to cut it short so we pushed it pretty hard.  Felt really good in that Mark was sucking my wheel for much of the ride.  Will have to reschedule my run for tomorrow.

Arizona or Pittsburgh?  I am pulling for Arizona but thinking Pitt.

Since the Seahawks won the superbowl a few years ago and Pittsburgh bought off the reff's so they could take home the trophy.  I have rooted for every other team that the steelers have played.  I hate, hate, hate, hate the steelers and hope they get destryoyed tomorrow.  Though since I am rooting for Arizona that means that the steelers will probably win, it's just the kind of luck I have.

Jeremy - great family you've got there.  Makes me more excited about the arrival of our little one.

Tony - good race.  I actually used 'wussified' when talking to my daughter yesterday.  The day before she was jumping from her toybox into my arms.  Yesterday she'd reach out for my hands and lower herself down - I wondered why she'd been wussified.

As far as the SB, I'm still a little bent about the Hawks lack of a trophy too - so as much as I had to root for a divisional opponent, I'm pulling for the Cards tomorrow.

Be safe at your SB parties tomorrow - or more to the point on your travels home.  We had a close call a couple years ago, nearly getting in a head on w/ someone that had too many.

Great family pictures.  I also know what it is like to be outnumbered by females.  Between my wife, 2 girls and girl cat, the only other testosterone in this house is the boy cat.

I was out of town for work this week, down at Fort Bragg, NC.  I got a couple of decent swims in and even though I got lost running around Smith Lake on base, it was a nice run.
