The best advice I heard from someone was to just start again. "Even 30 minute run is better than nothing."

x2! I took a few weeks off in June and it was SOOOO hard to get back - I just wanted to lay on the couch - it must be 1 billion times worse for you Cheri

But I think it did help mentally when I got out even for a short walk or a short - SOMETHING. Didn't have to be big or long (heh) but just something I could put in my training log and SEE.

I should revive my training log.
You should. Cheri too (if you don't). We can all support and encourage each other If we can see what you're doing. I log all of my crazy workouts and I don't even swim bike or run!
I dont know if I'm so-motivated. I did a 2-hour bike ride this morning.

Nice.

I think it was easier to train last year when I was part time and leaving at 3 every day and had fridays off.  It's much tougher now I'm working 40-45 hours a week and have to take care of the whole house by myself on top of that.

I watched Real Steel last night and it was an ok movie. The previews were horrible but I liked the movie.

Crap, forgot about that.  It's on the must watch list.

I know the DVD is out, but I'm waiting for Capt. America to come out on HBO.  (and Thor).  Wife needs to catch up so The Avengers makes a little more sense.

Capt. America and Thor are on netflix right now and real steel is on demand for showtime.

Nice.  Something to do while the "housemate" is in Chicago living it up.

So it's easier to train with more free time?

I'm shocked.

I said "screw it" to training since last Weds and other than the guilt, I finally feel good this morning!  Not so tired.  Back to it today though.

It may be too late, but I still think I have JUST enough time to salvage my race.

Cheri, you can do it, get back to training.  Build the habit now as the weather will quickly change making it easier to bury yourself under blankets for warmth and skip a day of doing something.

Don't worry about your performance right now you will get that back.  Just remember you doing anything is more than what 80% of the population will do this month or year.

So TAN, I am in a workout slump and a BAD one.  Ever since my surgery I have seem to lost all motivation, which is so not like me.  After my last doctor appt, I have been cleared to slowly go back but I keep doing NOTHING.

Like last night, yes I was tired but I could have swam, gone to yoga, done a arm workout, ran for 20 minutes at the lake front......but I choose to watch a movie.

I did not gain any weigh, and thinner than my normal self but weak and feeling like I may never go back??

HELP!!!!

I do best when I have a managable plan written down, where I can physically cross things off as they are completed. My half iron plan sits above my computer monitor... works for me whether it's 12 hours a week or something as simple as "20 min of cardio 4x per week"

I'm the same way - I need a fairly structured routine to stick to for an exercise routine to work for me.

Maybe sign yourself up for a weekly class?

That helps, too.

My motivation to get up for 5:30am masters practice is that I paid $50 for it for the month, I better get my butt out of bed and into the pool!

Yes, maybe I just sign up for a random short distance race to get myself back into the swing of at least having something to train for.

I seem so distacted by "boys" which makes me mad, cause I usually put my healthy stuff even before my kids cause i feel its that impotant to me Cry

Good advice you gave yourself!  What's realistic training-wise?  1/2 hour some days, longer on others?  Think about the specific time you'll get it in instead of just "sometime tomorrow".  When I go through a motivational slump, little things turn into reasons to put off a workout.  If I don't plan when I'm going to work out the next day, it's less likely to happen.  If I know the workout is going to be early morning, I try to make it as easy as possible to get out the door by setting out clothes and having everything ready the night before.  Sounds like you want to get moving again, so I'm sure you will!

Teejaay - 2012-08-21 11:44 AM I've had 3 people compliment me on my eyebrows last week. What an odd thing to notice AND compliment on.

They probably wanted to comment about your overall hotness, but decided that a nice innocent compliment about your eyebrows could start a conversation and lead to good things. Did you start a conversation with them?

Hi TAN. Nice to be back.

Brag time.

There is a show on the CW that is called "remodeled".  Some guy goes around and fixes up modeling agencies.  Gets ride of the old "talent" and does an office makeover and restocks the agency with new models...

The wife was on it and one of the "new faces" they found and made an appearance and the guys says some nice things.  Which is stupid, because she already worked for them.  Some of the talent they got "rid of" are our friends, SOOOOO, kind of akward?

Reality shows are far from real, BTW.

I decided I have to make training fun again.  Trail runs, OWS, maybe some MTB riding.  Or even strenuous hikes instead of a run, just to mix it up.

I bumped into a lady at the grocery store with a REDICULOUS body.  as in hot...

That always motivates me...

But she was buying rice cakes and spinich while I was buying twizzlers and popcorn.  I wonder if that could be part of it?

I wouldn't judge your purchases ....but then I'm not the type of broad anyone notices at the grocery store. Except when I'm testing the zucchini for firmness in the produce department.

So you think.  I give most women a once over...

I just don't stare or be a pig about it.  Just general people watching.

SO, you are noticed.

I know why there are so many CoJ arguments.

It can almost be physically painful to figuratively bite one's tongue.  I drive to work almost enraged/frustrated about having to NOT say something about the wife's obscenely large clothes colection that is taking over the house and displacing everything else.  There is NO reason to have that many clothes.  You can't wear all of them even if you wore something new every day for a couple years.

So the point I'm trying to make.  It's HARD to bit the tongue.  People can't do it and have to post something instead of walking away in pain NOT saying something.
