New user 31 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Justin – congrats on crushing your weight goal!! WTG! DQ: I haven't been icing it. Perhaps I should consider that. The reason I hadn't considered it was because it wasn't hurting. It is fine walking and during my other exercises. I had been just avoiding the behavior that irritates it (running.) I was hoping that just laying off of it for a week or two would be enough for it to heal, but no luck. Would icing it work prophylacticly? (Is that even a word?) or would it help it heal if there is no obvious swelling (pain?) |

That's the reward column - it's what you get when you complete ALL your goals. Remember, starting this week, each goal you don't achieve = 12 oz. of warm coors light

I always find it difficult to set rewards; food rewards are counter-productive, and right now my wife and I are house-shopping, so we're being very tight with money. I'll have to think about it. |

However, I am a firm believer that ice heals everything. With that said - if you are more than 72 hours out - a mixture of cold and heat often works best (or that's what my PT has told me). However - to truly know, you'd have to find out what you are really suffering from and for that you would have to go to the doctor. So, go to the doctor! |

Champion 5312 Calgary | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed hey kids, sorry I haven't been around. Been playing this stupid facebook game. Ahhhhhh. Anyways, got through last week. Drinking some beer, drinking some scotch. I have decided just to chill for the rest of January. I managed my 91k last week, with 2 hard workouts, so I am just going to stick to that. Felt good to take all those easy days. The race I want to get in has a lottery, so I find out February 6. So until then, just in a holding pattern. If I don't get into that 100 miler will have to find another one. Glad everyone is doing well, especially with the weightloss and consistancy in training. Awesome beans guys! |

Extreme Veteran 2098 Alberta | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Great to see everyone participating in our group! Amazing! Well completed my goals for last week. Now onto this weeks goals and the monthly 30/31 challenge! Got in a run this morning and it felt great...(note: for those who don't know me...I dislike running!) Followed that up with a 2km row in record time, well at least this year! Finish this week rowing 2k's and jump the distance up next week again! Also have first meeting Wednesday for our new triathlon group...I am starting a group in our town hopefully. Not sure what to expect with turnout or anything else. We will see! Have a great week everyone! Edited by thor67 2013-01-14 9:23 AM |

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed keep it up everyone! did my first FTP test on my bike trainer through trainer road. Good workout! Pretty cool. I quit my gym to save cash and have not been doing spin classes so that I could afford a new bike. I have not been pushing myself lately (spin classes are good for that) so it felt good to do a test, get my baseline FTP (246) and move on from there as I push towards my HIM in April. |

Race pace= 5K pace. was thinking about this on my recovery 6.2 mile run this morning. kevinbe - 2013-01-12 6:41 AM justinfss - 2013-01-12 10:21 AM My 2 best marathons came after doing something very similar to ^^. I ran 3x, s/b2x. don't forget the rest day. 1 recovery run, 1 intermediate length, and 1 long run. that's a good recipe for success.I am already thinking about my goals for next week guys and I am wondering if you can help me with something.
I would like to start a Run specific training plan that culminates in a half marathon the end of May. I would like to ideally do 3 Runs/ 1-2 Swims/ 1-2 Bikes/ 2 Crossfit classes. Any ideas or plans you have followed like this? I have been looking through plans all day. I am just going to pull the trigger on one soon, but I figured all you crazy pavement pounders may have some good tips!
Thanks Kevin, that sounds good .... now recovery run, I guess is just a short light run? I was kinda thinking something like ... Short "Fartlick'r" run (that word always makes me act like I am in grade school again)...a normal race pace run....and a long slow run.. I am glad to hear we are on the same path, however I fear that I will be a little ways behind you at the finish...you are a running beast!!! |

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed BTW, I am doing a non-beer Juice cleanse for the next two days. Therefore if I make some nasty weird comments you will understand. I love juicing and I think doing it for 48 hours gives the GI system a little break. |

Expert 925 Timmins, ON. Canada | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Well Well, Week two challenge and I am excited. Even though I cannot drink for another couple weeks I figure that I can start perusing the isles, looking for that perfect brew to reward myself with. Then I can have it sitting in the Fridge, shining like the Holy Grail, something to motivate me even more!
I threw in the Yoga session, because I have been feeling twinges in my back for the past couple days and I don't want my training to get derailed for any amount of time when I feel like I have some real momentum going here! |

Great Idea on the budgeting, I am going to do this because we are considering switching to one income, so that my wife can stay home with the little one until she is 2- 2 1/2...currently in Canada you only get one year of Mat. Leave and that just doesnt seem like enough to us. |

I think the trick is getting to know your body and tell the difference between bad pain and normal soreness. |
