RACE WEEK!!!!

This is the first race of the season and the first race since I did IMWI last SEPTEMBER!

I think I've forgotten how to transition.  I'll be running through T1 going "Someone strip my wetsuit and get me my bag".

Race Week for me too.  It is going to be cold water, but hey, it is a sprint so I shouldn't in there too long. I don't need no stinkin' wetsuit (i hope).

I am also getting very excited about Orlando next month.  My excitement is only passed by my wife's who thinks I stop training after that.  Foolish little girl...

Great ride today!! Started at 5:30 AM, left kids instructions and chores to do when they wake up. Ended up with almost 80 miles and 4500' of climbing in under 4 hrs!! MY LEGS ARE FRIED!!!! I felt very good for the brick afterward and my legs felt fresh but I definitely don't have my biking legs yet! I was actually a bit undernourished and paid for it the last 20 miles as my legs started cramping if I tried to go uphill in the saddle.

I STILL LOVE MY BIKE!!! I HATE HEADWINDS THOUGH!!!!

I am impressed with your ride, but MUCH more impressed that you would leave a list of chores for kids, alone in the house, and assume they would be done.

Were the kiddos even awake when you got home?  Left at 5:30 and rode for 4 hrs...I'd still be asleep at 9:30 if it weren't for my little alarm clock saying , "Momma, I want muffins and bacon and Mickey Mouse is about to start...Momma, Momma get up Momma."

I have 2 questions...do I have to wear a swim cap?  and, do I need to purchase anyting having to do with the "chip."  Sorry to be a pain with the simple questions, I just want to be as prepared as possible.

yep, the cap is for safety measures, plus it keeps the hair outta your eyes, assuming it's long enough to do that.

Typically, they usually give you a chip with the strap.  I have had issues in the past with their strap (ie fell off in the swim because the velcro had been used alot), so you might want to bring a safety pin just in case.  Those aren't that expensive.

OK.  Pollen really sucks, especially in Atlanta, but getting in a ride after work is the best stress relief.  I left the office around 5 yesterday and drove to the Silver Comet Trail, an old train line converted into a bike/walk trail.  I got in 45 miles in a little over 2 hrs and still got to get home to tuck in the kids.  That is work/life balance.

I have a century this Sunday

My first race isn't until May 10th or 11th.. Panama City Beach, FL.  The Gulf Coast Triathlon Half.  I'm returning to the ocean where I was attacked by a jellyfish.

Ok, training with a coach works.  First race of the season and I went from MOP at best to 3rd in AG and 32 overall.  Let's all give a round of applause for Coach Dan.  I was most impressed with my bike and run.  All thought it was a sprint through rollers on the bike and hills on the run, I still turned in an over 21 mph pace on bike and around 7:10 miles on the run.  Yeah me.  Biggest concern is that I was behind my pace on my swim.  Granted it was cold and I didn't use a wetsuit.  I think it took some of my breath.  Oh well, still SUPER ROCKING FOR ME!
