WTF? I suppose no one cares that I think I am getting sick. I have a fever and want to go to bed. Think anyone would notice if I curled up under my desk for a few hours? Worked for Costanza. I'll admit, I don't get it. I'll check back after I Google Costanza. |

George had a shelf installed under his desk for an alarm clock, blanket, etc., so he could nap after lunch. I myself have been known to just shut my door and put my feet up for a quick power nap. |

Veteran 131 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL I think everyone completed their weekly quota on posts this past friday. I had my last sprint triathlon today before my first go at an olympic next month. It went well but it is getting hot down here in Texas. The bike is definitely my weak leg but I think it is getting better despite the lack of riding this past month. I finished 42nd overall and 5th in my AG so I was quite pleased. |

Champion 9060 Charlottesville, Virginia | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Redknight - 2008-08-04 7:46 AM 1:34:27. Don't have splits/ NOt happy with result 141/170. 2:02:something. 750M swim took 28 minutes. LOL, I came very close to quitting, the swim took so much out of me I had nothing left for the rest of the race. I was 42/50 in AG and 295 out of 350 or so Men. Really only 46 in the AG finished, I beat 4 of them plus the 4 that quit. Need to really work on my OWS, I don't have this issue in the pool but it felt like I couldn't keep my body parallel to the surface of the water, it felt like my legs were dragging the whole time. Plus I didn't have a clue how to really swim around people without wasting a ton of energy. Found someone that lives in a community with a lake and my wife and I are going to go out and swim with her some for some more experience. I put this in my race report but it is funny how last week 2nd in AG, this week almost 2nd to last in my AG, The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat... Though my goal for this race was not to drown and to get some OWS experience which I did. So I guess I did meet my goals.

Master 2436 Apex, north carolina | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL What a busy weekend for everyone. Congratulations to Mark, Rob and Tony. No matter what happened, you were racing and did fantastic! Mark, EXTREMELY impressive times - you were smoking!! Tony, great job on gettting out there and doing that OWS! Look at it this way, you found a place to do OWSing so that is very cool. Rob, waiting for the RR. I'm sure you did great. I was fighting a fever this weekend but still managed to get some good training in. Am I the only one who is noticing this trend with me.... (example) a woman went out with my mostly male riding group and when they pushed her so hard she nearly puked, they felt really bad, yet when I go out with them, they decide to average 20mph on the hilliest course and think your guy's jokes about me are hilarious. Why do I attract you turkeys? I swear, you tell one dirty joke and the flood gates are open. But I guess that's why I love you. On a serious note, I am very proud of all 3 of you. Great job! How is the baby and beautiful Mommy doing Mark? Any new pictures? |

Upside is I have until November to get ready for my olympic which isn't much longer than this race so should give me some time to get ready. Sorry to hear about your fever, and you attract us turkeys because we tease you and you tease us right back, guys love that kind of stuff. |

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL HI gang. Finally recovered enough to get onto the computer and update. You get the first run at this as I haven't even done my race report My race went OK. 1:34:27 I finished 141 out of 211 and 14 out of 20 in my age group. M swim was actually very suprising to me. I thought it had sucked but in fact was one of my better times 18:41 for 750 meters and that was in some good sizedwaves. I couldn't get a rythym going as about evey third stroke I felt like I was either completely under a wave or I was half out of the water on top of one . The bike was OK at 44:08 for 20K. At the 10K turn around they put in a long (about a 1.5k) slow climb ending in a rather large hill. I'm sorry to say I only made it about halfway up the steepest part and had to get off and walk a bit. Coming back down the hill though was very impressive and I think I passed every who caught me on the uphill climb. I'm really glad I got new tires. It was my run that held me back though. I did the 5K in 29:35. I just couldn't get my legs to loosen up through the whole thing. I was so tired at the end I almost fell on the girl who was colleting the timing chips. There were a lot of good athlets out there yesterday. I will have to train harder for my next tri at the end of August. I think on the taper weeks I let up too much and just went through the motions instead of really running. I am sure I can cut my time to below 1:30. If I can improve by 4 minutes I will be happy. Now being as how I couldn't sleep last night I think I will be soon to bed. I went to bed last night after 11:00 and woke up at 4:00 and couldn't get back to sleep. Tracy hope you are feeling all better. (No girl jokes tonight) Thanks for the encouraging words. Congratulations on your finish Tony. I din't know you were racing this weekend Mark. Congrats to you too. Edited by Redknight 2008-08-04 7:16 PM |

Master 2436 Apex, north carolina | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Good morning all, I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. I have a running question for the group. I have finally gotten to the point where my long runs can exceed 1 hour (yhea, that took a long time). So the question is, what is normal foot pain associated with these distances and times, and what can I attribute to needing new shoes? I am having foot pain along the bottom of my pinkie toe running through the arch, blisters on the bottom of my toes and really achy feet when I am done and all the next day. I think I may be needing new shoes, but I would prefer not to drop $100 and just HTFU if that is what I can expect from long runs. What do you guys think? I would guestimate I have about 200 miles on my current shoes, but they don't look like they are falling apart. Just wondering if the soles are beginning to be compressed. |
