So I've spent the last 2 hours lounging around in my new compression tights.  Does anyone else use them?

Kristin does. (LazyMarathoner.)

Shoeless - 2009-04-06 11:11 PM I got a quick ride in tonight, but every mile counts. I think I'm the only one on this team with biking as my super power.

I almost chose biking, but really am trying to learn to like running.

TOPPAGE!

Like running? Okay, it is better than it used to be, but...

Damn I feel weird, I love running :p

Me too. I would rather run than walk.

Well, planned brick only included the bike, tonight. I rode on the trainer and just couldn't force myself to take my sweaty bod outside in the cold wind. Brrr. I will be so, so glad when it's summer.

(Hey! I live in Mississippi...isn't it supposed to be summer already?)

Run tomorrow, for sure. Speed work. Yippee.

What area of science are you in?

Technically I'm a chemist at a chemical manufacturing company, although the days I get to use my degree seem few and far between

Sounds a lot like my job these days...

That is not encouraging for me finishing my degree and trying to get a job.

I think that's just the nature of certain jobs. Responsibilites evolve and expand.

Any idea what you want to do with your degree? Industry or academia?

Not entirely sure yet. I think I will do a fellowship or a post-doc for a year or two after my PhD (genetics). I'd like to stay in clinical research in some aspect. I work closely with MDs and work on the research side and try to correate it with clinic data. It's pretty cool.

Well if you enjoy the research I say stick with it. I was never really all that interested in the couple of research positions I held (internship and grad school). Now I kinda wish I would have found something I liked to finish an advanced degree of some sort. I feel like my mind has just been wasting away the last 5 years at my current job

You're smart to not finish if you really didn't love the research.  I do love it and there are the days when I think I'm an idiiot for still being in grad school.  This month has definitely been one of them.

No, but I'm seriously considering getting a pair if I start training for another marathon.

I'm actually considering a pair of the calf compression "socks" (they aren't really socks because they don't have feet) in the hopes that they'll keep my crabby crampy calves happy while I swim. I figure it's worth a shot...

I'll let you all know how they go.  My legs feel good this morning and that's after 8 pretty hard miles.  The true test will be Saturday's long run

blujay65 - 2009-04-07 9:33 PM I got in a few miles tonight. It wasn't very fun, got a muscle cramp... not all runs are perfect. Hope to get back on the road again tomorrow morning. It's supposed to be very cold tonight.

I got some Zensah(sp) that I use to run, but I have been thinking for a while to get some only for recovery. Let me know how they work
