kromanowski - 2009-10-02 7:56 AM Morning All!  BIG day for us here in Chicago!!!  I know many people here are against us getting the Olympics because of costs, but I guess because I am a south-sider I can see the potential to rejuvenate neighborhoods that have been neglected for years...oh yeah and I happen to love the olympics

Good luck!! I hope Chicago comes out the winner.  I lived in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics and thought it was terrific for the city.

When do they make the announcement?

Yep, the olympics definitely made an impact on Atlanta.  Like Georgia State turning the olympic village into new dorms. centenial olympic park, not to mention the huge influx of cash.   Be prepared to hear the whining of all the diplaced, "less fortunate", lower income people as Chicago begins looking for areas to place venues.

kimk - 2009-10-01 8:34 AM I am Kim and I have been doing tri's for 2 yrs. Just finished my season on Sunday with 2nd in my age! First time I have gotten hardware! I want to do a 1/2 mary the beginning of November so this run challenge will do me good! Need to still figure out my goal. Will look at the training plans here or if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them! The longest I have ever run was a 10 mile but that was in June. I have only been doing 5k's since then. So I need to start from there. I am also a fitness instructor at the Y and need to adjust my workouts for when I teach a lot of classes.

Kim, congrats on the AG hardware!!!!

x2~ also kim there is a program I followed called Hal Higden...wanna join us hals gals? he makes it simple to train...just follow his daily program...if you are too late just count backwards from the day of the race and see where you should be....

They are projecting that the announcement will be sometime around 11:30 this morning.

The good thing about Chicago is that we have a lot of park space...so for example Olympic stadium is going in Washington park which is just west of hyde park on the south side...It recently has been a fairly poor run down area but was already starting to have somewhat of a rebirth, but by putting the stadium there they will most likely clean up the area around the park which will help jumpstart a process that was already in the works.

I know there will be whining, and complaining if we get it...but this is Chicago if people aren't complaining then they aren't breathing!

kromanowski - 2009-10-02 7:03 AM Today was supposed to be a rest day, but I missed a 2 mile run earlier this week because I was sick and had to cut yesterdays short by half a mile because of time...I know I will make up the half mile on Sunday because the logical turn around for my 5 mile run actually has me doing 5.5...I am debating whether or not I am going to try to make up the 2 miles tonight...Any opinions?

hey KATIE.

i think a 2 miler this evening will be just fine, that way you have most the day today to rest/regroup/recover....

just make it an easy/fun just to get up and get movin' run.  good prep for Sundays run....

So last night I went for a run, I'm running, feeling good, feeling like I am at a nice fast pace. All of a sudden I feel something pushing against my leg. I had an overweight chihuahua chasing me down. Guess I wasn't going as fast as I thought.

oh Elayna that's hysterical!

makes me think of the VERY overweight pug i pass on my runs.

he must have an electric fence, but he runs 'alongside' me the entire length of his yard.

he must go back and forth at least 10xs in the time it takes me to run past once.  [i mustnt be running as fast i think either.  chuckle]

those short little legs of theirs can really get movin'!!!

too, too funny.

I'm packing up my office today for a move to the other side of the building.  Just because.  Maybe I should enter some weight lifting activity on the log?  Naahhh.  I'm going to sneak out of work early today because I need to renew my drivers license.   Me thinks I am going to need an adult beverage post DMV in NJ.

I'll be putting on the sneaks around 7am tomorrow.  (That's sleeping in for me.  Usually have to get out before 5:30am to make it to work.)  Look forward to running *with you*
