They are letting me keep/giving me a referral for a specialist appointment this morning, but said "if it's just a routine prescription we can write it for you without you having to to go and pay for the specialist" - hmmm ok I like that part. But the specialist actually figured out what was WRONG with me, not my primary care doc, and has been treating me for 2-3 years with success. Maybe that's normal for a primary care doc to take over? I dunno, it's the first specialist I've seen for a specific ongoing issue. i'm confused by this whole post. BUT it may be an insurance compliance issue, and completely out of the doc's hands? i just got new insurance and it's making my life miserable in all sorts of ways. Well 3 years ago I go to primary care doc for issue. She experiments with 3 drugs that don't work, finally sends me to specialist. Specialist cures in one visit, now I have an as-needed prescription. Specialist requires I stop in once a year for check-up - which is due this morning, but my insurance requires a referral. Primary care doc has always given me the referral (so I don't think it's an insurance issue) until today - they decided that since the drug works, they want to be the ones to see me (and get the monies I presume). I'd prefer to keep seeing the specialist since she actually diagnosed me and knows history, etc. but the primary care is acting like they're doing me a huge favor by not letting making me see the specialist. I didn't know if that was normal for the primary care to take over like that.. At least I'll get my prescription... |

BUT i do think it is very weird for the PCP to want to replace the specialist...i only have a PCP because i need one for insurance purposes but he does just about nothing for me, besides authorize Rxs and sign referrals. i could see how as an office that would be frustrating. he's got a nurse that basically does NOTHING but handle these Rx and insurance requests. that's an entire salary worth of overhead. but he's never once suggested i should see him for treatment that he hadn't been able to take care of in the past...very odd. |

My insurance lets me pick a specialist or PCP whenever I feel. So, I let my PCP handle generl, "I'm sick" stuff and physicals. Otherwise, I find my own specialist usually. He did refer me to a good orthopeadist for a knee scoping a few years ago which went really well. But I typicallyu go straight to Yale specialists for anything which requires actual thought or expertise. |

I take terrible pics of people. And babies scare me. First time I ever held one was when I was 34 and it had just exploded out of my body and they handed it to me. I kinda had no choice. I've only held one other since. Please post your cure.

You are going by the book. I do most of that. The worst thing is that I sometimes drink wine later than 8pm. I suspect that is part of why I wake up at 3am. I also check your blog just before going to sleep, just in case. I should probably cut that out too. |

However....Chuck-E-Cheese parking lot at 2pm on a Saturday is not a good idea. It's really frowned upon. |
