Master 1817 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: Stuck in the Middle - May Challenge Heya, team! Just popping in to apoligize for not making 100% on my swim goal. Work was super crazy this week because I had to do 5 days worth of work in 3 days. Now I'm maxing and relaxing in exciting Delaware ("Hey look. We're in Delaware.". Hopefuly I'll find my swim mojo while I'm out here. I did, however, spend 13 hours on my bike this month. Highest previous monthly total was 8 hours. Thanks for encouraging me to pedal, pedal, pedal! |

Wayne's World is the greatest movie EVER. I wore out two tapes, back when there was a thing called VHS. If Benjamin were an ice cream flavor.... That's some awesome biking! |

Champion 5117 Brandon, MS | Subject: RE: Stuck in the Middle - May Challenge Did I hit my time goal????????? Nope. In fact, I missed by over two minutes in a super sprint. So what did I get out of trying to hit a ridiculous time goal that I really had no shot of achieving? Second place in the AG and 13th overall! Made me think about these challenges. Sometimes you hit your goals, sometimes you fall just short, but you come out the other side in better place than you were. Is the componet group Dura Ace? Scored a Leader frame for $199 about 6 months ago (www.leaderbikestore.com/cat_time.cfm). Since then have been putting in bids for parts on eBay...bottom bracket, cranks, derailleurs, wheels, aero brake levers, carbon fork, cassette and bar end shifters. Crank is Ultegra Octalink BB compatible If I get time this weekend, I'll post a breakdown of parts and how much they cost me off of eBay...
NICE ride, Sal!!!! I'm amazed at what you got for your money. Quit picking on Tiagra.... I beat you last year on a heavier bike (now it's really heavier) and all Tiagra! I'm jealous Heh. Wasn't trying to offend......front derailleur works just fine...just rubbing a little... Now Brett, don't go using bike weight as an equalizer this year...it's still the engine that counts...right?
No offense taken -- And NO I WON"T use bike weight as an equlaizer this year.. I have MORE than enough body weight to do that. Oh man so much to do to get ready to race again..... I'm feeling the pain this morning after my olympic distance (HILLY) ride (you know how I DON't love hills) and my whimpy 2 mile run! This engine is getting OLD!

Expert 1157 Tremonton, Utah | Subject: RE: Stuck in the Middle - May Challenge ALL GOALS DONE FOR THE MONTH --- WITHOUT BONUS AID! Yes, mighty middlers... This old man made all his goals this month, albeit barely, to help catapult the mighty middlers to victory! Take my bonus points to help someone who's hurt or just a bit short. I'll share them happily! I can honestly say that being on this team this month was GREAT! It really did help keep me motivated to get the job done this month, and I needed the extra motivation! Thanks all! Now let's hope (although I'm pretty sure) we officially win this thing!
GO TEAM!

This was a fun challenge and how great is it to be on the winning team?? Pretty great! You guys are awesome trainers and racers. Keep up the good work and maybe I'll run into some of you again on another challenge. Happy racing! |

This has been an awesome team - thank you for letting the part time East Coast part time Midwest girl hang out with the middlers! I think I'm going to opt out of an additional swim today - pretty tired after the run/bike/house hunting workout plus I need to make sure I save some energy for the June Challenge |

Master 1289 Franklin, TN | Subject: RE: Stuck in the Middle - May Challenge June Challenge? I'm exhauseted hitting 8 and some odd hours of training for the past few weeks and two more weeks of 7 and 8 hour training before the oh-so-lovely taper to July 6th XTERRA. Next week is a schweeeeeeet "off" week where training is down 40%. Yum! Finished my challenge today with the bike doing a short, relaxing, somewhat Chardonnay-induced ride through the neighborhood. Hey, it is a rest day, right? (After 3.5 hours of sealing a fence and pressure washing again.) Um. Doofus here was looking at the BT training schedule for a HIM for next September. Hmmm, that is only 2 more hours training a week max.... |

I kinda wanna die. I am so royally effed for the HIM. Seriously. Blah! ...naptime... but, the key point is you did it right? soooo, how was your endurance camp? Yeah. I did it. And I nearly had a mental meltdown at mile 40. It was ugly. But once I hit 44 miles I was back to myself. Those hills really suck thogh. The camp? Kicking my @ss. But the guys who run it are awesome, the participants are great and really supportive of one another. One of the coaches road with me for a bit today and yesterday, too and really helped me with my strategy on the bike. Coming from a flat city with biking paths to riding on winding streets with traffic was a huge adjustment for me...throw in 3000 ft of climbing and it really does a number on ya! Highlight of the week? Completely biting it on a railroad track. I need to update the spreadsheet with 12 miles of running and another 56 of biking, except I can't log on. Anyone wanna update it for me? With the addition, I'll be well over my cycling goal and at my running goal as well. |
