Do you like country?  Because if you do I have some that I like, but most people I know don't like country!

I love country!

kimk - 2009-10-01 5:45 AM As for music I listen to the I-pod most of the time.  I live in the city and use it to drown out the noise! If I am at the cabin and running the trails then no music just nature! It is my favorite place to run! Just wish it wasn't 4 hours away!

cabin.....sounds like many of us have cabins...any others?

time to do a cabin swap!

I don't have a cabin, but if any of you want to invite me to yours I wouldn't say no!

oh you dont want to cabin swap w me JULES...

hunting cabin.

mostly occupied by men.

who hunt.

and other asundry activities (burp, fart, drink, drink, and drink some more, smoke cigars et al)

say no more.

now.  your cabin.

is it a glorified man cave or something more....suitable?

im w KATIE, if your invitin' i'd SO be there!    especially since you'd be there, and we'd have a FABULOSO HALS GALS/BT CHICK WEEKEND!!!!!

Stacie....ours used to be the "man cave" but my mom retired there last year and we put up a home that is really nice!

Kim - I should have explained further about those plans I posted.  When I mentioned that if you can't hit all the miles, I was trying to get at that time is short before your race, but didn't explain that very well.

I think the best thing about those plans is the mixture of long runs, tempo runs, and intervals.  They give you a good basis to help you tailor a plan that suits you over the next month as you increase your mileage to get ready for your half.

Just found a picture of myself from the Savageman Olympic I did a couple weeks ago that I thought I would share.  I mentioned this in my log that I have a lot of cool aero pictures of myself, but I think this one is now my favorite.  I spent most of this race riding with nobody in sight, and this picture shows that and reminds me of all the lonely training hours:

Wow, that is a great pic!  Savageman is a tough course.  The HIM bike is notorious.  Hopefully you were "lonely" on the course because you were out in front (I've had a one or two when it's been the other way around.  Late swim wave, slow swim, just couldn't catch up with a fast field) Embarassed

I am more jealous of you running in Montana than of your TopPage but not by much   Isn't it hunting season out there?  Be careful!

Oh poooooieee you just blew my bubble! I just called my gma...she said it is bow season. I am more likely to get ran over by an animal than hit with an arrow. I am still wearing orange!

Anybody else like to mtn bike?  I got one last year and live near some great trails.  I have to say it is not easy.  I wind up walking/pushing the bike up and (embarrassed cough) down a lot of hills.

serendipity - 2009-10-01 7:01 PM I've got this 75 year old woman who comes to my yoga classes.  Great lady.  She's telling me tonight that she was swimming in the lake on Tuesday.  Here I am trying to keep wood burning so I don't freeze and she's jumping in the lake.  Tells me she warms up running back to the house.  And she's not even a triathlete.  I'm thinking I need to HTFU.

Wow,  I think I want to be her when I am 75

kromanowski - 2009-10-02 7:03 AM Today was supposed to be a rest day, but I missed a 2 mile run earlier this week because I was sick and had to cut yesterdays short by half a mile because of time...I know I will make up the half mile on Sunday because the logical turn around for my 5 mile run actually has me doing 5.5...I am debating whether or not I am going to try to make up the 2 miles tonight...Any opinions?

I'm usually not an advocate of making up missed workouts, but if your body feels good I don't think doing the 2 miles will.  Just take it easy and have fun!

kromanowski - 2009-10-02 7:56 AM Morning All!  BIG day for us here in Chicago!!!  I know many people here are against us getting the Olympics because of costs, but I guess because I am a south-sider I can see the potential to rejuvenate neighborhoods that have been neglected for years...oh yeah and I happen to love the olympics

Good luck!! I hope Chicago comes out the winner.  I lived in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics and thought it was terrific for the city.

When do they make the announcement?

Yep, the olympics definitely made an impact on Atlanta.  Like Georgia State turning the olympic village into new dorms. centenial olympic park, not to mention the huge influx of cash.   Be prepared to hear the whining of all the diplaced, "less fortunate", lower income people as Chicago begins looking for areas to place venues.

They are projecting that the announcement will be sometime around 11:30 this morning.

The good thing about Chicago is that we have a lot of park space...so for example Olympic stadium is going in Washington park which is just west of hyde park on the south side...It recently has been a fairly poor run down area but was already starting to have somewhat of a rebirth, but by putting the stadium there they will most likely clean up the area around the park which will help jumpstart a process that was already in the works.

I know there will be whining, and complaining if we get it...but this is Chicago if people aren't complaining then they aren't breathing!

I hope Chicago gets them.  That would be a short drive for me to come and watch
