Totally makes sense here that there are those that abuse the system. I suppose it's not done in the private sector? Edited by 1stTimeTri 2011-03-10 2:50 PM |

He's not a BT'er (that I'm aware of). I have more respect for my fellow BT'ers. And, they aren't the ones making some crazy decision. Yet people got dinked for calling the President "O-bozo". Same thing isn't it? No. The President was called "O-bozo". The Wi. Gov. was not called "O-bozo". |

Actually I stopped commenting on the Wisconsin bill/union situation awhile ago and was more concerned about civility of your comments to the governor of Wisconsin. In fact one can actually STRONGLY disagree with someone without calling them a D-bag. Then again maybe not. Did you remember acknowledging earlier in the thread that the title of your thread was not the most appropriate? Yep. Now, are we done? |

Totally makes sense here that there are those that abuse the system. I suppose it's not done in the private sector? sorry about that... probably would have been a better option... RE: your question - I think that is largely why we have seen such a dramatic decline in private unions... because the same thing did/does happen there... again, i have no qualm with public employees making a good, competitive wage... which i believe that this largely comes back to - since there are myriad protections built in through other employment laws... i just think that unions/CBAs create significant and unnecessary expense and become overly burdensome for government (in this case) to be able to manage those within the union/CBA… |

Pro 3906 Libertyville, IL | Subject: RE: Dear Gov. D-bag of WI: 1stTimeTri - 2011-03-10 2:41 PM the difference generally is that in the private sector, there is recourse for actions via disciplinary actions, job loss or from the companies standpoint, bad business practices and abuses can and will lead to lower share price or even for the biz to fail. part of the issue i think i this case is that there can be limited recourse or accountability at times and schools dont necessarily go out of business, they can just get real sucky. bscharff - 2011-03-10 2:00 PM good stuff here... nice examples of some of the issues with collective bargaining......

Expert 3126 Boise, ID | Subject: RE: Dear Gov. D-bag of WI:
Hey Phil, question for you. According to this article you will have to start paying 12% of health premiums and 5.8% of your income will go to your pension. They also say that you longer are forced to pay union dues and that they are not planning furlough days after June of this year, whereas you had 16 in the last two years. So my question is, have you been able to run the numbers yet to see what you were paying in dues and furlough? And will these changes affect your amount of take home pay or will it essentially be a wash as far as your paycheck is concerned?

The bolded is what I think you missed, above. I can run some numbers, but not at this time. I'll do some checking when I have a chance. I've been receiving HR information that's been answering a number of these "How will this affect sick leave, etc. ..." questions. I need to go over the information this weekend (hopefully). |

Correct, I did miss the no. Any ideas what the normal union dues are? Just curious as to how all this is going to shake out for someone like you. I hope it doesn't affect you too dramatically.
