my challenge for everybody is to eat whatever they like, try to be smart and first eat lots of turkey, cranberrys, salad, then in portions mashed potatoes and stuffing. try to stay away as much as you can from the gravy, butter, alcohol, and chips/snacks however the main challenge is to eat lots, have fun with friends and family and i repeat do not feel guilty about eating to much, its only one day a year. if your traveling be safe. happy thanksgiving everybody
I'm up for this challenge!!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone Got my pre-emptive strike in this morning, warm up run, 4 mile Turkey trot and then a 3 mile cool down run when I got home. Pass the stuffing |

Expert 1951 | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Happy Thanksgiving! I started the day by figuring out how to change my back tire to the trainer one all by myself.. yep, I am that incompetent mechanically. After 40 minutes I was good to go. lol. So, I did a 90 minute trainer ride, followed by a 3 mile run. At holiday feast I ate too much of this fantastic sweet potato deluxity thing. But I skipped desert. Looking at Black Friday ads and wondering why the hell i do this every year... Getting up at 4 a.m. will by my version of "Insanity Workout". At least I do not spend the night at Best Buy like my brother does. Have a good night Downers! |

Member 107 South Wales, UK | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Hi all hope your thanksgiving is going well and you have had a few treats without beating your selves up about it. I just wanted to get your opinion on juice fasting? My friend has just completed 10 days of pure juices. She said she feels fabulous and I must admit she looks pretty wonderful too. But and here's the big but......... She doesn't exercise, well she walks the cliffs three times a week but she doesn't run or bike or get out of breath. So my question is...... Does anyone have any knowledge of juice fasting while trying to exercise. There's very little on google. I thought it may be a good idea to do a short one to get me out of this funk and kick start. What do you think? Xx |

My sister lives in the US and did the 4am shop-til-you-drop. I'm curious but not enough to drive down... |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Hope everyone's holiday weekend is a good one! Still no workouts on my end but I'm back down to 141 (though likely due to wine dehydration!) so moving in the right direction. This weekend I'll get back on the exercise program. |

Expert 962 | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Down this week, although the progress was stymied by Thanksgiving. Well worth it though. Just maintain and keep my eye on the prize 213 this morning. Also updated my training logs for the past two months. A relatively inactive October is one of the key reasons I think I've seen the weight creep back on. Won't make that mistake again. |

Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Happy Black Friday, everyone! My weight is up this morning - not a big shock after travelling and Thanksgiving. But still a bummer. Back to healthy eating this morning. (And we did Black Friday yesterday, from the comfort of our kitchen - got all of the big presents ordered!) I've almost made it through the first week of my training program for the February 1/2 mary - given what happened after the November race, I'm basically dialing back and starting from scratch - but it did feel good to string 3 days of 3miles each together. 4 mile "long" run on deck for this weekend, cycle & strength today. |

Veteran 140 | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! well i'm up 1.5lbs. not to bad. actually think it might be a good thing. probably been running a calorie deficit, and body probably actually needed these calories. legs actually feel good could be from skipping an extra day of exercising or getting the extra calories. |

Member 14 | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! 4 mile tempo run with some hills yesterday and then I brought a huge spinach salad to the in-laws with avocado, slivered almonds and loads of veggies. Shredded my turkey over it and had a great meal. Down 6 pounds in my first 3 weeks of off-season workouts and I feel great! Am looking forward to starting my training back up in January at my goal weight. Keeping a food journal has been really important in helping me stay on track. It may seem like a pain in the butt, but it really helps - especially if you weight in first thing each morning and keep track in your entries. Hey - if you can make it through the holidays enjoying yourself and staying on track - then that's the best gift you can give yourself! |

Down from 215.2 to 215 - call that a win for the week, (even down 2 lbs from Thursday morning) Seems like each week from here on out presents it's challenges, B-day's, Christmas party at church, at work, Christmas itself New Year's Eve. |

Extreme Veteran 544 Shawboro, NC | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! I actually didn't eat much at either of the 2 Thanksgiving feasts I had. Mainly because I had no appetite thanks to getting my arse handed to me by a seriously brutal head cold. I'll admit, I'm having left oers and I'm not eating too clean, but I actually WANT to eat and I can breathe so I'm going for it.
Yesterday, the daughter and I ran a 5K... she was totally shocked when I told her we ran to a different county. It helps living within 1mile of the county line. lol |

I'm just grateful I have active kids who can and will run. |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Sounds like the holidays were good for everyone! I'm pretty pleased with the way things went.... On Thanksgiving, before all the food, I was down 2.2 pounds for the week. On Friday - the usual weigh-in day, I was down 1.2 pounds. So - only a pound gained on Thanksgiving! I'll take it. Especially since I didn't avoid any food (though I didn't eat until I was feeling sick... so, there's that). I'm on the verge of being back in the 140's which is what I've been struggling to do all year. Just gotta be strong with all the holiday food that'll be here in the office! |

Expert 962 | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Well I did great on Turkey day, but stumbled a little the rest of the weekend. Went for a run on Friday and did alright there but tweaked my lower back on Saturday morning which left me without any training on Sat. and Sun. to offset the leftover intake. It may affect me some but I am hoping to get back at it today and make up some ground before Friday weigh in. |

Extreme Veteran 544 Shawboro, NC | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! About 95% recovered from the cold. The daughter and I have been doing 5K runs fairly regularly. She's certainly ready for the distance; I just wish I could figure a way to get her motivated enough to not walk at all. Intimate, I guess. No change in weight lately. No big deal; I'm down overall. |
