The swim ... actually, it WAS great, especially since it wound up being a 1.5 mile course rather than 1.5K. This is what happens when you mix international units up |

I'm totally looking forward to it. Congrats on a wonderful race! Everyone should check out Suzy's log if they already haven't because she kicked some serious butt in her race on Saturday. An *awesome* first race! I ran a 10k this morning, and it would've been a PB except I got screwed up at the turnaround (as did a lot of people, it turns out) and added an extra .15 to the distance. Oh well! |

As you will see I rolled up to the AG win because the first female was someone 43-49!! How cool is that? There is hope for us all. Older ladies rule. Erin, bummer on the screw up on the 10K. I definitely know how that feels after my last duathlon. The good news is deep down you did PR it based on your race and YOU know it! |

Expert 973![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Berkeley, Calif. | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Manatees Mentor Group--FULL!Yeah, where is everyone? How are you, Beth? I'm experiencing my first little bit of tri vs. work dilemma. Yesterday I was asked whether I wanted to take on a new, much more demanding job at work, and my first thought was: How will this affect my training? (The truth is, it would probably affect my training a lot. The hours would be crazy and I'd essentially have to become a morning workout person, which is...unlikely to happen.) There are many, many other things to consider with this job, I just thought it was funny that training was the first concern I had. Addicted? Me? |

Hey all....just keeping busy with summer and the kids....took my youngest out for a spin in the bike trailer this morning....now, that is a hard workout!! He's much heavier than last summer (as am I, ugh). Trying to decide on a tri July 12 or not. $$$ always an issue. |

That is funny about your training being your first thought - actually, I can totally relate. The first thing I did when it looked like this job might become a reality was to go online and try and figure out what kind of gym access was available. I even posted in the PA thread before I was even offered the job - LOL I am also far from a morning person, however I did manage to do the morning workout thing for 2+ years - I had a couple of workout partners and that kept me going. Any chance you could find someone to work out with you in the mornings? |

I just am getting anxious to have my fam move out here. No word on the house - I registered for a sprint on July 27, it's a nice little race that only costs $45 to enter - yippee! (it's the first tri I ever did, I did a little better last year - I'm anxious to see how I do this year!) |

I really don't know how you do the traveling thing -- I'd find it exhausting, even without the whole missing-your-family part. You're doing so great at holding it all together. How much longer before the family moves out? Does it all depend on the house? |

I think it is perfectly reasonable that it would be on your short list to consider. Every time I have to travel for work, I always wonder "how am I going to get my work out in?". Same thing happens when we go on vacation. Probably frickin weird to a lot of people. The job thing is tough. If you really want it for career advancement maybe you have to adjust your tri expectations in the short term while you grow to love a morning routine. If you pass it up, will there be another down the road? do you care? Lots to think about, but I am sure you will know what is right for yourself. Remember no regrets with whatever decision you make.
