willie05 - 2009-10-02 8:18 AM Just found a picture of myself from the Savageman Olympic I did a couple weeks ago that I thought I would share.  I mentioned this in my log that I have a lot of cool aero pictures of myself, but I think this one is now my favorite.  I spent most of this race riding with nobody in sight, and this picture shows that and reminds me of all the lonely training hours:

Sweet Pic!

Good morning team!  Just wanted to let everyone know I am not a slacker(well I am because I am supposed to swim today, but I am just too cold to put on a suit and get in the waterSurprised).  My goal this month is to increase the distance in my runs.  So I have to log 4 runs longer than 6 miles.  My first one is scheduled for Sunday.

For some reason when I go for a long run I get anxiety about half way through that my house has blown up or someone desperately needs my attention........I think it is a mental game.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

so sad...Chicago blew it!  No Olympics for me...oh well at least it won't mess up traffic or anything else or raise taxes above the already obscene level that they are at (10.25% sales tax...11% at restaurants!!)

Holy Cow!!!  Finally got through all the pages!  Here we go.........

CANDY....I love Snickers!

COLD WEATHER RUNNING GEAR.....Dress for how you will feel mid-run.  Layers.  I never worry about my feet.  They don't get cold.  Headband for ears and neck gaiter.  (I used to live where it got cold, cold, cold.  Now I just have to deal with rain, rain, rain.)

MUSIC.....I get lots of my music off emusic.com.  Lots of indy stuff and hard to find stuff.  It's cheaper than itunes.  I have an ecclectic taste due to teaching Spinning.  I love the electronic stuff and hard rock while running.  Soul to Squeeze and Breaking the Girl by Red Hot Chili Peppers have the perfect beat to get you running at an optimal cadence.  So does Black and White by Sarah McLaughlin.  Anything by Asura puts me into a total zone on long runs.  Hmmmm.  I've got lots.

RUNNING TODAY?.....Nope.  I don't run on consecutive days yet.  Still trying to get my milage back up after having a baby.

Cheers!!!!

thanks for the site...I will have to check it out!

I love fresh asparagus.

Absolutely! This spring it was really thin and wimpy around here, but lately they've been good and firm. I can't decide if I should steam them or pan-fry them with some portabellos...

I want to do a 1/2 mary the beginning of November so this run challenge will do me good! Need to still figure out my goal. Will look at the training plans here or if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them! The longest I have ever run was a 10 mile but that was in June. I have only been doing 5k's since then. kromanowski - 2009-10-02 4:56 AM Morning All!  BIG day for us here in Chicago!!!  I know many people here are against us getting the Olympics because of costs, but I guess because I am a south-sider I can see the potential to rejuvenate neighborhoods that have been neglected for years...oh yeah and I happen to love the olympics

sorry Katie...was just watching the news and Chicago was eliminated! I think it would have been great there! my grandmother grew up there and I would have liked to make a trip there to see her old stomping grounds....

obtw...if any of you know who John Phillip Sousa is...my grandmother was asked to perform in a concert in some park in Chicago with him...back in the 30's or 40's! She was a professional whistler...yup there is such a thing! haha ~~she was walking thru the park whistling when Sousa went past...and loved what he heard...he asked her on the spot to come perform with him while he was playing....pretty cool, eh!??

Do you like country?  Because if you do I have some that I like, but most people I know don't like country!

I listen to anything but jazz.

OH EXCELLENT - TOPPAGE TWICE TODAY!!

what....no jazz? my husband who graduated from tulane would be devastated! but I will never tell!!!! Im sure you were very worried, though!!!

Sorry, the closest I can get to listening to jazz is listening to Steely Dan. Maybe I just haven't listened to the right jazz to appreciate it. Laughing

try listening to Dave Brubeck...I actually got to see him just recently in town...he is in his 90's and still performing!! amazing perfomance too!

kromanowski - 2009-10-02 5:03 AM Today was supposed to be a rest day, but I missed a 2 mile run earlier this week because I was sick and had to cut yesterdays short by half a mile because of time...I know I will make up the half mile on Sunday because the logical turn around for my 5 mile run actually has me doing 5.5...I am debating whether or not I am going to try to make up the 2 miles tonight...Any opinions?

Katie, your schedule does not have to be set in gold...just try and follow it as close as possible...I would say skip the 2 miler...add the half mile on your next run....but I am no expert...thats for sure!!!!
