Practice makes improvement (not perfect yet). 10 months ago I signed up for my first full tri and started training. First full "just swim" for my race distance (1200 yards) was 42 minutes. I just finished my first full "just swim" race distance for my Escape from Alcatraz (2600 yards / 1.5 miles) in 46 minutes and 3 seconds - almost a 100% improvement!!! Still not the fastest in the water and quite exhausted getting out, but improving!!! Awesome John! Way to work hard!

Great job. Crystal, good luck this weekend!! You will have so much fun in your first tri. I thought of yet another thing to remember. Make sure you know where you placed your bike in transition. I forgot where I placed my bike and I ended up going to someone elses bike that looked like mine!! I started puting on the helmet and noticed that the helmet was really loose. I thought, "WTF, who messed with my straps?!" I than realized that this was NOT my helmet and this was NOT my bike. I was in the wrong area. I had to scramble to find my bike. Lost like 2 and half minutes of fumbling around. LOL. Ahhh, good times. |

OH - did I forget to mention that it's also a fundraiser for Susan G Komen foundation? In case you're feeling generous - here's my link: http://www.active.com/donate/triforthecurephx2011/CAshworth
You will have a blast - just enjoy it and learn the do's and don'ts of future events. Make sure you post a race report and let us know when - can't wait to see your discussion. John Thanks John! And thanks for the donation as well! High flipper five! Also, I didn't realize you were in Pueblo - my hubby's grandma lives in Alamosa - I know it's not SUPER close, but kinda. I could use a very long ride with some "hill" work (3000+ straight climbing consider hill work or just plain punishment) as well as 105 miles one way - maybe I'll stop and say hi. Have a ball this weekend and make sure you finish. I don't back individuals who don't finish and I have confidence you are a finisher!!! Great Luck!!! |

Maybe my missing puzzy can be found on John's transition mat with his $ hoes. My cat's been gone for a couple days and I'm pretty freaked out about it (she's never disappeared, not come when called, or not skiddooed home fast to greet me when I return). Hope she's back soon. In the meanwhile, not feeling well enough to train, but wandering the neighborhood multiple times with Lisa Labradog and even Biscuits on the hunt for Suicide has kept me pretty active and gotten me outdoors ... |

I don't want to complain when I see what the rest of the world is putting up with.... so in a non-complaining voice.... I'll just state that there are lovely big fluffy white flakes falling outside my window, leaving a nice 3cm blanket so far. I must say.... it IS beautiful.... but it would be nice to say good bye to it all!!! What I know I will be saying good-bye too soon is my accessory that has overstayed it's welcome.... cast comes off in 3 days... soooo excited! I can finally get back in the water again! A friend took this pic earlier this week... he figured I should have something to remember it by! |
