Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry for the double post, but forgot to add that I'll have almost 2 hours of "me" time before picking up kids from school starting tomorrow. I'm giddy about training for something with that time! My kids won't even miss me. My boss is awesome. When husband deploys he lets me have an 8-12 schedule for that bit of free time. Missed about 6 workouts...but still layed a pretty good foundation. March is going to get crazy as things are going to bump up. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Blanda I'll get the pics of the shirts up after i shrink them. Hey we should do some kind of shirt trade with everyone. Afterall aren't the T shirts a big part of the race scene. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Brian: They both look great, but I would more likely wear the black color as it matches most of my clothes! I'd love a shirt trade. ***** I took the day off yesterday to spend time with the kids and husband before he left. Sent him off on the plane at crack o' dawn, and hoped to get to the family room at the gym for a training session, but my poor son slammed his thumb in the car door. Ended up at ER instead. Poor kid. Not a good day for him. Luckily not fracture. Tomorrow I hope to get in a session at some point, but chores need to get done first, which includes the lawn. That one thing I hate doing when the husband goes, lol! Have a great day. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning-glad its Friday. Anyone racing this weekend? Brian-cool shirts. Think I like the black one a bit better. Blanda-how long will your husband be deployed? Sounds like you have a full plate. Keep up the good work! Warm temperatures here. Yesterday I was to do an hour easy run at lunch. Ended up running with some buddies and although we started off slowly we pushed the pace over the last couple of miles. Felt good other than something going on with my right knee. Not swollen but really stiff. Strange thing is it feels better after running a couple of miles. I swear if I had a set of grease fittings in my joints I would function better. Somedays I feel like the tin man with all the creaks and pops. This morning I did intervals early on the treadmill. Longish swim at lunch with main set being a timed 2000 yard swim. UGH!!!! I hate long swims. Bike is in the shop with rear derailleur/electronic issue. I love the Di2 and this is the first issue I have had in the year+ that I have been using it. Hopefully, I will have it back this afternoon so I can get my rides in this weekend. Randy |

![]() Went for a easy run this morning. REALLY EASY. Decided not to look at my garmin and just daydream, and enjoy the run instead of worrying about "training". Ended up doing about 6 miles at 10:35 pace...LOL. It was a hilly route...but still at least 90 seconds slower per mile than I would have tried to run otherwise. I was happy though...sometimes I get too caught up in the whole...I need to run this pace...I need to bike at this wattage...I need to get in this much distance...etc, etc. Sometimes I forget that I do this for fun...and while I do have a competitive side...I don't do this for a living either. Have a great weekend everyone. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm working from home today so I was able to sneak away for 15 minutes to get a short run in. If I get some sleep tonight, pending no major issues, I will try to get a 30min bike workout in. Keep up the great work everyone. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just thought I'd share a funny discussion with manager today, via email, about all the overtime I will be accumulating in next 10 days. Her last message stated, I know this is coming from higher management, "...any work that can be done during business hours should be to avoid overtime..." My response was "I will do my best to not tap into the $1.87 Billion profits from last quarter". She laughted. Cheers, have a good weekend, because I will...accumulating overtime |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This morning pool temp: 83, air temp: 60! Total change from Wednesday...I even expected the water to be cold today and had 1/2 cup of coffee to warm my insides before I went to the pool. Despite the warm water (or maybe because of?), I had a stellar morning. 2600yds with a 100x4 descending set of which I swam the last two under 2:00!! #3 was 1:56 and #4 was 1:54!! Those are my first two official 100's under 2:00 and I am celebrating! Now if I can just get to the point where I can sustain that pace for 1500m... Really looking forward to tomorrow's run on the Lahaina Pali Trail. The link is to a review of the trail and some pics in case you are curious. My new Brooks Pure Flow shoes came yesterday, but I'm not using them on the trail! They are going to have to wait until Sunday or Monday to try out. My hope is that the wider toe box fixes the blister problem I get on the inside ends of my big toes. I wanted Newton's, but there is no local retailer and they wanted to charge me $40 to ship them here UPS (um, no) and RRS doesn't carry my size (11.5). Goggles - I feel like the regular goggles poke my eyes out, so I wear Aquasphere's all the time (forgot the model). Hope everyone has a great weekend! Looking forward to good numbers in March! |

Have a great weekend everyone. That's great, Jason. We definitely need to remember to keep it fun! (I sometimes run without a watch and just guesstimate time based on looking at the kitchen clock, for exactly this reason -- I can get too hung up on training goals very easily, especially on the run). And the nice added bonus is that even though you were running more slowly than you might have if you were staring at a watch, you still got a good training benefit from that run. |

Nice swim! Isn't it funny how whenever we hit a new milestone we say "now what if I could hold that pace for a really long time"? I do that too. Ambition is a good thing in this context.... Good luck with the blisters and new shoes. I'm headed to the shoe store tomorrow to see whether maybe a change of shoe will help my foot issue.... |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jason-those types of runs are great. My coach actually puts in specific run workouts where I am to run with no electronics or watch. Just run! Di-good job on the swim! Sylvain-hope your OT makes a nice dent in the company bottom line! I had my "long" swim today. 2000 yards straight. I really dreaded it but it was tolerable. I decided to just take it easy and think smooth and steady. Ended up averaging 1:45/100yards. Not fast but given the "easyness" of the effort I'm OK with it. Kept HR low and never felt overwhelmed. I did increase effort on the second 1000 but still felt unders control. Effort 6-7/10. I would rather swim hard intervals than long sets....alot more effort but also more interesting. Looks like I will be up early and headed to All3sports in Atlanta. That's where I got my bike and my LBS has been unable to resolve the Di2 issue. Its a long way to go (about 300 miles each way) but I need to get my bike fixed and its not happening locally. They deal with Di2 all the time so hopefully they will be able to get me rolling tomorrow. Not a great way to kill a Saturday but I should get to check out all the cool bikes/gear while I'm there Randy |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Brian - if I had the green one, I'd wear it for the St. Paddy's gigs! I like 'em both - nice, clean designs. Green is big in Oregon, yes? Sylvain - no worries, just rounding errors. Ufff... Gonna try to stay off my feet tomorrow - signed up for the half marathon on Sunday - right now the forecast is for 20mph wind and thunderstorms... hmmm... Stu |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Brian: We're supposed to be getting shirts from tomorrow's duathlon! We could message each other addresses. Randy: Husband will be gone 8-9 months. I'm not going to get any training in today. It's just not working out. I'm supposed to be tapering, no? Same thing as running? I think I'll get in one nice swim, a 6 mile run, and take the bike up the big hill next week, then rest Friday. |

![]() PR'd (for training) my 2k OWS today. Conditions were ideal...surf was dead (even though where I swim is protected from most of the swells) and the water was glassy. Still could have gone harder, but I was having some tightness in my right chest area that I get from time to time. Depending on the weather...I may ride solo tomorrow. I normally ride with a big group...but I may break away from them to get more HIM type...20-40 minute intervals in there. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Awesome, Jason! You're kicking butt with your training. Just wanted to share a video that was shot of the 1st Sprint Tri that I did. There's quick shot of my hair in the beginning, but that's it, lol! You can see how small the community is and how fun the people are. Parents are watching the kiddies so I can do the duathlon in the morning. For some reason I'm not feeling it, but going to bust it out. Have a great weekend! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I wonder how many "necessities" Randy picked up at All3Sports?!? Let's hear the goody list! Nice run Brian! Great swim Jason. Thanks for posting the video Blanda. That is awesome! Got in 9 miles today. Will ride long tomorrow. Plan on bringing the camera and will post a few photos. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great runs Brian and Bennett! Can't wait to start doing some long runs like those. I've been slacking big time on the running. Glad you liked the video. I've enjoyed being a part of that community. It really is a family like group that cheers you on every step of the way. The duathlon this morning was the worst bit of biking since I've started. I saw my life flash before my eyes on a particularly bad fall. I got spooked seeing a guy go down ahead of me, lost sight of the line, slid, fishtailed, and went flying over my handle bar. I don't know why I don't just instantly let go of the bike making it possible to land on my feet, but I didn't again and ended up slamming to the ground on my side. Got the wind knocked out of me and my right arm's hurting from trying to hang on to the bike. UGH! Scary enough for me to hang back the rest of the bike portion. Almost quit, but I knew I'd never get back on the bike again if I didn't keep going. I'm going to feel that in the morning. Have a great evening! |
