And you are already awesome for helping ... yep, I see a way for you to become (hard as it may be to imagine) even more awesome and still put a roof over your head doing it. Never hurts to seek and try!

There are quite a few charity, nonprofit, not-for-profit, service, and business organizations that seek to assist disabled vets in various ways. Off the top of my head I know of Disabled American Vets (DAV) which seems to have a chapter in most states, and American Association of Disabled People has a section for disabled vets (which I think is different than DAV but I could be wrong). Point is--there's lots of ways to help and make a living doing it if that's what you want to do.

That said, these organizations are looking for nonprofit, fundraising, and business-specific organizational / leadership experience. So being the golden boy for RWB will help you get some of that experience, unless you have a bunch already in other ways I don't know about.

Also, starting positions in nonprofits pay abysmally poorly (worse than comparable entry-level positions). Something to think about.

But if this is something that piques your interest ... start looking. You never know. You may get lucky, you may create an opportunity, etc.

Very true in the Tampa area.  Didn't you come to MAsters at BSAC a while back?  It rained a tiny bit here this am like less than 1/2 an inch and no one knows what to do.   Snerk.

Shocking

One of the most terrifying minutes of my life was on I-40 during and Arizona Monsoon Storm.  I had a truck with monster tires mass me and literally flood my windshild so bad my wipers couln't immediately clear it.  right on his tail was a Semi that did the same thing.  I literally couldn't see a blessed thing for close to a minute traveling at 70 MPH with my then toddler son in the car.
