Artemis - 2008-06-01 9:21 PM Ok...anyone know about ITB symptoms? I'm using my stick on the outside of my thigh where the muscle is. If that hurts and is tight is that usually an ITB problem?
Is the pain in the upper thigh, near the buttocks? That's where your IT band originates. And it usually presents with pain in the outside of the knee of the affected leg. Whether it's an ITB issue or not, the stick will help break up any knots and loosen tight tendons and ligaments (according to my chiro) so use it frequently.

That sounds about right. I've had a lot of pain in the upper thigh that I thought was glutes. It's hurting on the outside of the knee and hurts most when I bend it.

I'm using my stick and started doing some of the stretches on the Running Times website. It actually feels like it's helping, so I'm guessing that's the problem.

Anything in the low back that could be sciatic pain? Pain sitting long times or putting weight on the affected leg?

Not really.  It hurts when the knee bends, especially up stairs.  But, when I'm sitting or standing and not moving the knee, it feels fine.

Hmmmm, so it doesn't sound sciatic which is good but I hear ITB is a miseale injury too....lots of massage.  There's a MT school in Richmond that might be less expensive to have a student do massages than going in for the chiro massage therapy if you need to do a bunch of them...Someone in one of the other departments at work teaches there so I can get the info if you want.

I'm off to bed too. G'night all!

Morning Nibbs.

Seems I woke up with a bit of a head cold - hope it's just post-race hypochondria.

Judi - I'd be interested in the MT school info too - please share!

Have a good day!

Ooh...and this morning I'm getting a new computer at work. YEAH!

But I'll be off-line most of the day while IT ports over my work stuff (and gets rid of my play stuff) from my old computer. BOO!

Talk to you later!

Good morning, Nibbs!

Daughters awards ceremony this morning. I'll sign her out afterwards and we will swim together at the Y before her brother gets home. At least that is the plan. Lost over 2 pounds yesterday from the dehydrated ride. No wonder I felt bad! TTYL.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers

in many ways it wasn't really a huge surprise, sort of one of those things that we've been expecting would happen eventually

he's in terrible shape, extremely overweight, very unhealthy eating and drinking habits, no exercise, smokes cigars, works too many hours, you get the picture

he had a scare a few years ago and we were all hoping it would be a wake up call, it was for a little while, but then back to the same lifestyle

*sigh*

zipp1 - 2008-06-01 7:34 PM So my question fo the day has had most folks saying "don't split the workout".  I'm asking Nibbs what I should do.  I really don't want to get up before 5AM to do 1:45 on the bike in one shot.  I was thinking about splitting the ride tomorrow, doing part in the morning and again after dinner.  I do have another ride the same length on Saturday I could do all in one shot so it's not like I'm blowing off doing the distance/time at once.  PLUS, 1.  it's now pouring out there so it would mean drainer...2. even with my little headlight my black/silver bike on poorly lit (now wet) roads with no shoulders sounds both dangerous and crazy...What do the Nibbs think?

In my opinion, splitting the workout is better than not doing the workout.  We're all busy.  If I need to split a workout, I do it.  Otherwise, I never get the volume in that I need...

Okay... at first I thought you were talking about a trail.... then I thought, "maybe they're geochachers and it's one of those kinds of things"  I JUST realized Zelda must be a game... I'm so not part of the gaming world.  LOL

YEP!!!  I'm a little worried... tomorrow morning we're giving a presentation to convince admin that we should have a Wii for our fair booth.  I hope I don't have to play... I SUCK at electronic games... I'm okay on my son's LMax (aka leap frog) but that's about it...

I miss the days where playing TV games meant all you had was a joystick or paddle wheel with ONE button....
