Good Idea. but I dont think she is into the sport as much as I am. She is better as a supporter. I will just have to start saving my pennies now....

I will get to race.... I just have to get trained....

k-read23 - 2009-05-21 12:49 PM It cost $550 bucks to do an ironman? My God that is a lot of money.... I didnt realize it was that much

Hey, Mt. Everest summit would cost you $40,000+ and they don't even get a finisher's medal!

http://www.himalayanglacier.com/climbing-in-nepal/83/mt.+everest+expedition.htm

~Mike

Finishers Medal? They don't even get a pre-race banquet included in that.

K-read, give Bernabe a PM and ask him about signing up then telling the wife...

Tell her about how much being signed up will motivate you to get in to great shape. Unless you are already in great physical form she may enjoy seeing you shape up a bit. My wife has. (Im still working on it but my wife has noticed my smaller gut)

A long weekend coming up for some good training.  We've had rain socked in for 6 days, and no end in sight. Undecided

Do I hit the trainer, or get wet?

Who's got big training plans this weekend?

Yes, I am serious.  I have a feeling many on this forum have done that or more before.  Just a good weekend here weather wise, the wife is on board .. .. what more could one ask for?

Stay safe everyone!  Make this a great weekend... Louisville is right around the corner.

I'm impressed with two centuries in a weekend, and while I'm sure you're not the first, I hope you're not the norm - otherwise I'm way behind.

If the weather cooperates, I'm planning:
Friday 2000 swim
Saturday 50+ mile bike
Sunday 2500 swim, 10 mile run
Monday 50+ mile bike

Have a great long weekend everybody.

Your workouts look great.  We are all at different points and have different goals, so we shouldn't compare ourselves to each other.  All we can do is what we can do and try and be as safe as possible.

Man it is so hard not to compare what we are all doing. I get on this board feeling good about what I am doing and whammo it is gone after reading these mondo training weekends and days. This site can be the best thing in the world and the worst thing at the same time. Oh well what you gonna do.

Compared to all ya'll I am a serious slacker.......damn!

Did my swim on Sat.......followed b a damn hammerfest 40 with some guys that noramally average 1-2 mph faster than me on race day..."HANG ON TIGHT" they said....I was trashed after that!

On Sun. I did my 70 miles @ just faster than IM pace...then a nice steady 4 mile run......felt good after that

As for today...I'm bailing on the pork steaks and going to do a rotiseerie a chicken instead..

Had a great long weekend, and the weather was a little better than advertised.

Thursday was a hard 24 miles with lots of wind and a little rain, but our group rode very hard and my legs felt it on Friday.   I missed my planned swim on Friday for my daughter's 13th birthday.  I thought that was a good trade.

Saturday, rode a hilly and fast 52 miles in a small group, draining the legs once again.  Taught my 11 y/o son to push a mower as my recovery.

Sunday I ran a total of 13 miles, some on the treadmill to save the hurt knee, and took a detour by the pool for 2500 meters along the way.  I've not been able to run that much this spring (again - the knee), so the 13 miles really took it out of me, and I was hurting Sunday night.

Monday, topped off the weekend with a group ride of 55 miles, in the most hills we have in our fairly flat area.  Legs were dead at the beginning, and I didn't give them any rest during the ride, keeping the pace pretty high.  The rest of the day involved a lot of lounging around because my legs really felt dead after the last few days of hard efforts.

12 weeks to my taper.  Glad to have the countdown going, but wondering how I'm going to get it all in.

I am staying at the Hyatt the night before the race.  How far is the swim start to the hotel strip?  I looked on google maps and it appears to be a few blocks to the river.  Where is this 'great lawn' that is supposed to hold transition area?  I am so confused about where everything is compared to where I am staying!
