Is there a website that you can order Ironman Louiville Merchandise?  The official merchandise site comes back with nothing, just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to the wrong site.

Been looking too.  Whoever does the marketing for IM is not very skilled.  From the website to the availability of merchandise, it's a mountain of lost opportunity.

dwmmlm - 2009-09-09 3:27 PM Congratulations to everyone.

For those who used Tri-Bike Transport......Everyone have there bike?  I live in Miami and still don't have my bike.  I know about 10 bikes shipped from my LBS but almost 10 days now seems unacceptable.  I wanted to ride this weekend and no bike.....  Called them and they said the holiday screwed things up since some bike shops were closed Monday.....

Guess one advantage of doing it yourself is it comes home with you.

And still no bike......

Thanks guys...bike came Friday and when I arrived at the LBS the IM bikes were stacked in the corner like rentals.  My chain was off and jammed in the crank so badly the shop had to help me get it out.  Looked like it had been on a 2 week truck ride (oh that's right - it had).  No major damage although Sunday's ride revealed a new sound coming from the gears...

The 'clincher', so to speak, was I got an email over the weekend telling me my bike had arrived at the LBS.  Not sure if that's funny or just more irritating at this point.  I've heard many good stories about Tri-Bike Transport, but I have a feeling it's 5 guys and their wives working out of their basement somewhere.  Not very professional which I guess they can get away with since there's no competition for this service.  Several emails and calls to complain, but no response.

I am doing the event next year and was wondering where you all would recommend staying based on your experiences this time?  Any info is appreciated.

Galt House.

I volunteered two years - stayed at the Hilton this time and Marriott last time.  The Galt House is closer to everything going on and that's where the expo is. Definitely staying there next year.

Galt House.

Request a room on the 3rd floor.  In 08 we were on the 17th floor andi t was chaos come bike check-in and on Monday morning.  This year we were on the 3rd floor and bypassed the elevators all together.

My vote is the Marriott....quiet, no problems with elevator and about 5 minute walk to Galt House and 2 minute walk to convention center where the dinner and awards lunch is held.

For the record...TriBike transport did finally get back to me and apologized.  Everyone I talked with their has always been very nice, but never seemed to know 100% what was going on or where the bikes where.  In the end, I think they're still learning, but they were very gracious and apologetic with their follow-up albeit belated.

It depends what you like I guess.  I preferred being away from the noise and the crowded elevators and others feed off the excitement that was clearly in the air at the Galt House.

I stayed at the galt house on the third floor. I loved it! Escilators to the main floors and did not have a single issue. I had a friend stay at the marriot and he said he heard traffic all night Friday and sat. The walk was nor bad for him but I did not have to go far for any of the expo or finish stuff. Everything was so nice. My family and I got a suit for and additional 20 bucks and it was well worth it.
My two cents.

I stayed at the Galt house on thursday night and the Hyatt on Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon.  Hyatt was cheaper and just about as nice as the Galt house but lacked the IM spirit.  Galt house was lovely but I stayed at the Hyatt because it is the closest hotel to the finish line!!

We stayed at the Galt because of the pool (kids).  Before the race, the Galt had a 3 night minimum stay during the IM.  Since we were only in town for Friday and Saturday night, I waited until Friday morning to make the reservation and was able to get just two nights.

Would stay there again.

I miss having something to read every day in this thread.  I'm still checking it often, and it's so lonely in here now.

Can we make up a race to talk about???

Or...register for another event.  I'm registered for the 2010 Timberman 70.3.  I'll look at a full Ironman again in 2011.  Loved Louisville.  Glad we lucked out with great weather this year.  Good luck to anyone doing I.M. Lou in 2010.  Peace
