dimplespoo - 2010-11-14 2:49 PM Well today is to be a 12 mile run - last long run before the half mary next week and I woke up with a MAJOR headache, body aches and stuffy head.  Instead of heading out this morning I laid back down and crashed for a couple hours.  Body aches and stuffy head are great, someone is still messing with the indoor thermometer a bit but it is better but I still have the MAJOR headache. Going to attempt some of the run this afternoon and will just see how it goes. Will do what I can and just have to deal with it next weekend.

Hope the rest of you are doing good.

Yanti - feel better soon.

Judy - way to go on the run/bike. Yay!

Good luck on the half marathon!!!!

I hope to be doing my first on March 6 as long as my feet start cooperating. Taking the new socks for a spin tomorrow.

12 miles in the books. Last long run before the race - took it easy and it felt easy - about 30 sec per mile slower than last week but I got it done. I told hubby there were no races today - it was all about getting to next week. Wha hhoo...

and an extra benefit - headache is FINALLY gone.

It was gorgeous. I guess the downside is that now I have to work all week when its still beautiful beach weather outside....

QueenZipp - 2010-11-14 1:53 PM Stacie,
You are at the last week before the half mary.  No major fitness will be gained this week.  In fact, most of the HM training plans I have seen would call for no more than 5 miles today and 1-2 miles at most this week before the race.  If you feel sick you should rest more so you'll be able to make it to the starting line.

Thanks I needed that. I altered the training plan I was using - it is Hal Higdon's and I was only to go 10 miles.  I altered it to go to 12 if I could handle it just so I knew I had run most of the distance before. For me in my head I can grunt it out for 1.1 more miles, not sure if I could convince myself to grunt out 3.1 more.  I haven't had any problems laying light during the week with a long run on the weekends so I don't think it will hurt me next weekend.  This week is 3 on tues and 3 on thurs depending on how it goes - they may be run/walks just to keep the legs moving.  Feeling better this afternoon - honestly I think it was the after affects of being on the boat yesterday - it was rocky so I didn't eat or drink much - to the effect of 1/2 a sandwich, 2 granola bars and 2 sodas between 5am and 4pm. I ate a normal dinner but I think the damage had been done by there. I get really bad headaches if I get dehydrated kind of a kick in the pants to say "hey lady - water would be nice"... Combined with getting up at 145am to drive to the lake and not getting in bed until after 10 the night before and last night.

So I drank up today - ate normal and pretty healthy and feel 100% better this evening. The nap this morning and the eating is what I think caused it. One of these days I will learn.

Thanks - I will have to cheer you on along the way.  The rep at the local shoe shop told me to get my shoes 1/2 size bigger for the longer runs to avoid blisters and losing my toe nails. So I did back in August and I have lost a second toenail with a 3rd threatening and still get blisters on the tops of my toes so I am not sure. I think my feet will enjoy not running much next week if at all.  Hope the shoes work - my blisters never pop - I seem to have a thing with getting the blisters under the edge of my toenails.

mbasta - 2010-11-14 1:06 PM I just bought a spinner bike!!! WOO HOO!

Running outdoors + biking indoors in the winter = someone who still sucks at swimming for the 2011 triathlon year. Laughing

Congrats - I have one that I love in the cold here (that and I live with hills on both sides of me for miles). I have a goal of 4 uses after the 1/2 to get friendly with it again.

Hey everyone! Another coke free day but thanks to the healing foot I am behind 2 runs. It's healed over enough now that I'm going to try out my new socks with a short run this morning.
