Lake Conroe has some areas available for OWS during the week before the race. It's about 15-miles from The Woodlands. Water will be about the same temps and it's the same turbid, dirty-brown color as Lake Woodlands. It's a lot bigger lake though, so it can be a lot choppier and it  has a fair amount of boat traffic. Lake Conroe is where the OilMan HIM swim is done in November.

What is the weather looking like these days in The Woodlands?  I had some heat training yesterday running the Boston Marathon.  It was hot.  Guess I better adjust!

highs in the mid-80s for the next 2 weeks probably.  and actually i would be thrilled if it stayed that way for the big event...

Okay it is settled, group practice swim on Thursday or Friday in Lake Conroe. Now someone who has any clue where it is or any logistics of it take it from here. I am about 2000 miles from there now but I know I am staying somewhere close to there... I think Undecided

Sounds good, I have no idea where anything is located down there but a BT practice swim sounds great. Did one for LP and FL, good fun. Really missed the BT family at the overseas races.

Raceday attire is ordered. I am getting the new Blue Seventy TX 2000 tri suit. It has a ton of superpowers and other crap according to the girl at the local tri store, or at least that sounded like what she said.

Now what else is on that to do list before the race, oh yeah train. Gotta go!

I'm prett tired myself. I've been battling between pushing through the fatigue or take an unscheduled rest day. I chose a rest day to be on the safe side. Each of my 4 kids have been sick and that usually means its my turn....

This weekend I have a "Big Day" - swim/bike/run for a total of 9 hours.... which will include a 100 mile bike ride.

Then after this weekend I have one more 100 miler. Which will make for a grand total of 5, 100+ mile rides.

I can't wait to get back to 50-65 mile rides.

I can't agree more with everyone. I am getting tired of training. I just want to do this race already. One more BIG Week next week. Maxing swiming. Biking and Running. Then the taper begins.....

I am finally having a really good week of training (minus Monday) okay so 3 great days in a row, hope to end up with a huge volume week for me. Trying for 2 more of them after this week and then a two week taper, drop my bike to ship out about 10 prior to race and then its showtime.

Hang in there peeps, the reward is worth it.... or so they say

tjfry - 2012-04-17 10:07 AM Ironman Practice Swim will be Saturday April 28th. They will have a 1.2 mile loop for you to swim. It will essentially be the first leg of the race. I will put up a link later when I find it. Only opportunity to swim the lake before that Friday. Get there early because it won't be open all morning. Sponsored by some guy who thought a practice swim was a good thing to have.....[/QUOTE]

what a douche....;-)

Well you all have answered my question before I posted it- how close to the race are you doing your last long days.... 6 1/2 hours on my bike and a short run after, 16 to 18 miles tomorrow running, atleast a 4500 in the pool mon am.  I'm tired. Will repeat next week (with all the other stuff in between) and then taper!!!!!

This week was an easier week before 2 x peak weeks and 2 x taper weeks. My options for tomorrow due to available time are: A) 80 mile ride from home which gets me 40 miles into the race course or, B) The north part of the course above Hwy105 starting at Walmart which is 60 miles and catches the hills.

A or B Peeps?
