Hello Ghoulies!  It if Friday afternoon.  I did get a couple of runs in yesterday and this morning.  Got to get ready for Key West.

Had a great bookclub meeting last night.  I made saurkraut Soup with beer.    It was a hit.

I'm ready for a weekend off from work.  Oh, did I tell you guys that I have another staff person retiring?  I am down so many staff hours at work it is crazy.  We might have to go to every other weekend soon, and if we do I won't be happy in the least.  Sometimes I wish I was ready to retire, but I don't want to wish away the years yet.

Hey Kendra. I hate that you are losing folks. That is silly that they won't hire folks.

I am curious on what is in sauerkraut soup..... other than beer. I have a bunch of sauerkraut I made last year and could use a new recipe.

Sauerkraut soup with cheese

Zuurkoolsoep met kaas

Publish Date: Mar 07, 2005
Tags: Soups & Stews

for 4-6 people:
5 deciliter / 2 cups dry white wine (Riesling)
or pilsner beer
5 deciliter / 2 cups water
4 vegetable stock cubes
500 grams / 1 lb 2 oz. sauerkraut, drained
8 long shallots or 2 medium-size leeks
3 tbsp cornstarch
2 deciliter / 3/4 cup cream
300 grams / 11 oz. aged Gouda
2 tbsp parsley

Put wine (or beer) with the water in a pot and boil. Let the stock cubes dissolve. Chop or cut the sauerkraut, thinly slice the shallots or leeks and add to the stock. Gently boil for five minutes. Sprinkle in the cornstarch and stir well. Add the cream and bring to a slow boil. Simmer for another five minutes, stirring regularly.

Cut, grate or chop the cheese into smallest pieces.

Pour the soup into a heated bowl, fold in the cheese and sprinkle with finely chopped parsley. Serve with oven-toasted wholewheat buns or baguette.

Thanks.... That  may be on the menu for tomorrow evening's dinner.

Morning Dee. It is amazing how much work piles up when you have to go away for a bit.

I was getting worried, I was going to grab Ann and the SAR dogs and come and find you.

We can still go. We can cause a distraction so she can get a nap!

Come on out!  A nap sounds good, but if you are out here, then I would rather stay awake and play!  Laughing

No harm in both!

Ran most of the 2 miles this morning.  Only one walk and that was after a hill.  We did run the hill.  Tomorrow I'm going to try for 3 miles.

I also told my hubby that I would ride a 25 mile bike ride on Saturday.  I haven't been on the bike in ages.  This will hurt (my pride and bum that is).

Can I come along? I have been dying to get my bike out.

Last night my daughter was down the road at the in-laws, my husband was helping his brother work on his lawn mower. We stopped by on our way back from Jiu Jitsu. My daughter wanted me to come back down on a bike and ride up with her, she had her bike down there. I dropped off the boy, and my car, and jumped on my old roadie that my son now rides. It was all downhill, I had to ride the brakes. On the way back up I ended up walking because the hill is steep and my daughter couldn't ride the whole way up. When we got back to the house we were riding around the driveway. Our driveway is like a big rounded Y, so we can do circles and only be on the road for a VERY short distance. I did almost get taken out by the big puppy who wanted to play with me while I was riding. I decided I'd just watch before I got wiped out.

It is supposed to be nice this weekend, I'm hoping to get at least a short ride in. Maybe a trainer ride in this afternoon if we get the thunderstorms that they're calling for.

Have a wonderful May Day!

I wonder if anyone is dancing around the May Pole today.  My sister's school did that when she was younger.  We have one of those old Super 8 movies of it.

Hi Dee

Hi Kendra.

I wanna come ride, too. But I am helping out with the 5 K in town and then running up another stoopid mountain on Sunday. I don't think I can fit it all in.
