I did my first ultrasound of my neck post surgery (over a year ago, wow, time flies!) Stellar updates, till today. So, they found a lump on the other side of my neck. HOWEVER, they think it's most likely scar tissue or something from the surgery. So many things point to it being anything BUT cancer but they want to keep an "eye on it". I hate having to "keep an eye" on anything, know what I mean? Good news is, the "cancer side" was totally clear! The brainiacs need to discuss it amongst themselves and call me if they want me for more tests or just follow the course of action. Again, it's NOTHING, but not the jubilation I was hoping for and getting this whole last year. |

Most likely, nothing. BUT, they may make me take a simple test where they give me a shot of something, then wait a bit and test my blood. It indicates if there is chance of cancer or not. If there is a chance, then they sample/biopsy. I think they are going to talk if I need to get the shot or not or just keep it in mind. They will call. It's really not much to worry about, but at the same time, it's out there so there is SOMETHING to worry about, no matter how small. I'll just roll with it and see what they say. I'm not going to lose any sleep, but I can't promise it won't pop into my head once in a while and wonder what's up. |

Might be worth asking for a biopsy to be done just for the peace of mind. Talked to my mommy... She says don't worry! Haha! She teaches nursing and I always run my medical stuff by her. She agrees with the doctors that it's post surgery scar tissue and would be surprised if there WASN'T tissue. It's under control but she understands the concern. Last time it was a lump with a 99% chance it wasn't anything but turned into something. So this time? It tends to send up red flags fo rme, even if it's not warranted. |
