Does anybody know how I can get a charity bid for this event? If not it's gonna be the Ironman in Zurich Switzerland. So it's either Maryland to New York or Maryland to Switzerland... For financial reasons I'm hoping there's some way for it to be option #1 but I'm not sure how to get an entry at this point. Thanks!

It would appear from the website that there are still charity slots available. Go to the website and click on the link. Good luck getting in!

Blech. Indulge my rant. It's been an unproductive week (the pool has been good). Between shoveling out of the storm and other pop-up scheduling conflicts, my training hours are taking a hit. It's making me cranky.

Hopefully I'll get some time on the trainer tonight after a post-work meeting. I've got two work shops to facilitate this weekend as well, so I'll need to get creative with my long workouts.

And here I thought you were going to be complaining about all of the snow that we got this week. I would like to tell you that all of your conflicts will magically disappear and that your training will be spot on from now until LP, but I would not be telling you the truth. Conflicts are a big part of the training equation. You just need to roll with it and remain flexible. Hey, at least the pool has been good to you. Speaking of which, I need to remember where the pool is and get down there this week. Train on!

Jeff, So sorry about Blu.  It's so hard to say good-bye to such a great partner.  Dogs are such great friends.  My heart goes out to you.

I'm having a great training week.  I'm in Florida on the beach and LOVING training in this awesome weather!  But this weekend I'm going home just in time for a snowstorm.  I love snow...but...I'm finished with it for this year.  Maybe I will just stay here.  =)

I haven't had the best training week either. Life sure likes to get in the way of training, doesnt it?

I do have a 20 mile race this weekend that I'm no sure I'm entirely ready for but whatever, it is what it is!

thanks for the tips on the nose stuff for the pool. It makes a difference for sure.

Best,

Mandy

I'll be doing late afternoon/early evening workouts for the next 3 days (began with a 9pm threshold workout on the trainer last night). This is rare for me and I feel upside down. But I need to accommodate day-long commitments for Saturday/Sunday. I may push my long run to Monday morning.

I don't know how you evening workout people do it. I'm fine with my 5:30pm swim ... that always tires me out. But I was so tweaked after last night's ride that I couldn't get to sleep.

Anyway ... feels good to not let the schedule conflicts win.

Late night workouts are the worst!  I'm okay with an 8:30pm swim, but bike/run are pretty much out of the question.

I have a 4-hour ride scheduled this weekend.  It's supposed to be 4C on Saturday, so I'm hoping to get outside!

I know that somewhere on BT I read about an athlete's experience with a product called UCAN.  Was it on this thread?  Have any of you tried it?

I run after work quite a lot. It usually winds up being a swim/run or bike/run brick. If I get home at 7 and have dinner, I can't get to sleep before midnight even though I'm physically tired.

Must be close to spring, tree pollen is off the scale and I can't breathe. Time to get scripts refilled. Was supposed to swim this morning and have up. Time to dope up before running!

Urgh, 3 hours on the trainer today. I need spring to arrive. I think it's trying, it's just not 'quite' here.

On the upside - I got to meet 'Rinny' yesterday!! She's so freaking cute, I could pick her up and put her in my pocket.

Ready for a day off. Peak training week for me, at least for running. I have to figure out how to taper for a marathon while IM training. I suppose that's what the coach is for.

Nice week of running, Brian.

I had a great workout yesterday, 3:30 on the bike (with :36 at 100% FTP and about 2 hrs close to 80%FTP), got off the bike and got in 7 miles at 7:45 pace.  I was pretty stoked.  Rest day today.  Planning a big bike week this coming week...trying to get as much time in the saddle as I can.  Trainer, mt. bike, road bike...whatever!

My weekly totals:

Swim-2.5 hrs

Bike-6.75 hrs

Run-2.5 hrs

Strength- 1 hr

18 weeks people!  Keep at it!

I had a non-running week. Mostly just due to schedule crap and the storm.

Bike - 5 hours

Swim - 2 hours and some change

I'm itching to get out on the roads with my bike, but I think I'll be on the trainer for another week or two given the temps that are projected.

Total: 10:51:28
Swim: 9450y @ 2:36:24
Bike: 3:18:04 All on the trainer
Run: 33.76mi @ 4:57:01

Rest/Recover week this week...very little amount of workouts, maybe 5 hours total but looking forward to sleeping in and not doing 2 a day work outs.

I also got to meet Rinny this weekend. She is so awesome! I got to run with her which was a lot of fun and she did all of the events at Tri mania. I agree, she is very cute! so Tiny!! Power to weight ratio...shes got it! HA

I've got a logistics question for those of you who have raced the course already. I'll be using a Profile Design Aero Bottle (this one) up front and two additional bottles behind the seat. Those behind the seat will have my Perpetuem and that up front will have water. I'll switch out the perpetuem (400 cal. each) via special needs, but will want to fill the aero bottle up front on the fly.

If I grab a water bottle from the course and fill the Profile Design, will I have a place to discard the empty water bottle? I anticipate traveling as much as a quarter of a mile by the time I have it filled.

Thoughts?

I have the same bottle up front on my bike.  I just jam it in and squeeze, and it fills really quickly.  I would suggest grabbing a bottle at every aid station, not just when you're low, so that you can grab it at the beginning of the aid station and pitch it at the end of the aid station.  Otherwise, you may be stuck with it until you reach another station.

I don't think my peak weeks will be any/much higher than that either.  I'm not sure why she had me on such a big week.  This week is also big, but then I'm lower next week.  Who knows, I just do what's in my log and complain about it to myself.

Will do. Good to know I can get it done in the span of the aid station.
