Solid work What do you watch/ listen to on the trainer ?

Top Chef, MasterChef, Chopped....     I sense a theme!

would make me too hungry.   Top Chef fan, but don't watch the others.  Maybe it's Padma....

I tend to go for more action fare on the trainer.  Blowing up aliens and stuff....

I'd watch stuff blowing up too but Tab, not so much.  She and I are generally on the trainer at the same time and since her choice might be Greys Anatomy or something like that, we meet in the middle.

ETA: I'm generally after something I don't really have to pay attention to so if I put my head down for a few minutes during a tough interval, I don't really miss anything.  Food shows qualify for that.

In my house it'd be downton abbey or real housewives then.   Funny, trainer time for me is such an isolated experience, it would take a while for me to get used to having someone else there.   You obviously don't follow the same watts, but do you do similar warm up and interval times or are you each doing your own thing?

We are mostly doing our own thing.  Occasionally we'll have similar interval times but more often than not we are totally different.  This morning I did 4 x (5' / 3' RI) while she was doing 10 x (1' / 1' RI) and 10' at the end.

I had an interesting observation during a 5 x 100 kick set this morning (possibly to be filed under "D'uh").  Simply by relaxing my ankles as I kicked, my times dropped by 3-5 seconds per 100.  I've never paid attention to that before but I'm certainly going to do so from now on.

I use black super feet.Cycling changes should be done in very small increments. That can be very hard to do with new shoes. I alway put new cleats on when getting new shoes. That way you can have the old shoes and cleat placement to fall back on. Any inserts should be directly swapped unless the new shoe has some ergo features. Replacing old cleats on old shoes is ez. Just outline the old cleat with a sharpie marker prior to removing.

Nice job Arend! Surprising results. I have often heard that flexible ankles in running is not desirable. I am not sure of the legitimacy of that.

Very nice consistency in the run. Are you planning to keep that up?

Anyone racing this weekend??? I get the weekend "off" but I've got a HM next weekend. Again, won't be much of a taper, training through for the marathon.

How rapidly do bike shoes break down? Or, more specifically, how often do you guy replace them?

I've been using the same pair for the last 2 years.  I only replaced the prior ones because one of the bolts screwing the cleat on had stripped and I was looking for an excuse to switch because I didn't really like them.

Mine are just about 6 years old. Just recently the main velcro strap seems to be coming a little undone, but think it can be glued back together. Only issue I've ever had with them and they're still working fine. Mountain bike shoes are actually older than that, but don't have as much use put in.

Anyone  have experience with champsys clothing and sizes, i.e. maybe how they compare with capo?

Getting clothing from shane but the size charts are weird.   Currently 6'2"   190 ish, hope to race 185 ish......

Sorry, this might not be valuable to you as I am female and I have no comparison to capo BUT I will say, from my experience they are very true to size but on the more snug fit (as tri/cycling gear should be.) In other words,  If you wear an M normally, order and M.

Have you been at 185 and do you know what size you wore when you were there?

I was 185 last season, but wore an XL in Capo (could have worn a large, XL fit tho).   Weirdly, the champsys stuff almost has me in a medium

the hardest part is having lost a significant amount of weight, it was always easy to order an XL, and my head still thinks of me as XL guy...  can't wrap my head around ordering such small (for me) sizes.

The poor guy, I don't think he ever wants to feel cold again. Probably still has PTSD after Tahoe

Mark is through 138 KM on the bike looking good.  Based on the pro times I'm guessing there must be some ups and downs to the course?

The swim is ALWAYS a cause for concern when it comes to competing in a triathlon. This is the event for which you need to concentrate on RELAXING.
