rnihill - 2010-03-15 3:29 PM Got to the pool with no calls about the kids! Of course, when I got there I realized that someone had borrowed my goggles (both hubby and kids like to do this) and forgot to put them back. I was already there so I decided to just swim without. Boy, do my eyes sting now!! But at least I can log some swim yardage.
That has happened to me as well. Last time the guard told me to just go grab some from the lost and found. Worked great since I swim with my hard contacts in and really can't keep my eyes open without goggles.

Oh, great idea. Wish I had thought of that! My eyes are still all scratchy...

Run planned for lunch time today (maybe this afternoon if my boss becomes a pain... which is likely) and trainer ride for tonight. I need to work by butt off today since this appears to be the only day this week ree of wine, green beer and basketball! Speaking of which, I really need to work on my bracket today sometime too...

I use gas perm lenses since soft lenses won't do it for me. I'm always worried I'll get my goggles kicked off in a tri swim and I'll lose them.

MDHillSlug - 2010-03-15 10:35 AM Good Morning!

It was crazy busy at the pool this morning; I had to wait 20 minutes for a lane. Then, while hauling myself out of the pool when I was done my foot slipped and I fell back in, scraping my leg in the process. What a way to start the week!

how many are you allowed to swim in a lane? Not sure I would wait 20 min! But then again I have the luxury of swimming when the pool is empty! ouch on the leg

With 2 we split the lane, with more we go to circle swimming (no real limit per lane). However, I hate circle swimming since it's basically impossible to find a lane where everyone is speed matched and it drives me bonkers to have to slow up/go around slower swimmers. Also, just then you think you've found a lane that will work someone will switch stroke or go to kick drill and everything gets all mucked up.

Apparently the scrapes were really superficial because I can't really find them anymore. However, during the fall I also pulled something in the my right hammy. Good thing I have a therapeutic leg massage tonight!

rnihill - 2010-03-15 4:34 PM So, my Monday is shaping up!! Got my swim in. No sick calls from school. AND we paid off a loan today so hubby wants to celebrate!! His theory is that Wednesday is St. Patricks Day and Thurs/Fri is basketball.. so TODAY needs to be the celebration day. He's bringing yummy food home for dinner after the kids are in bed. Yeah!!

Sounds like great reasons to celebrate! What kind of food??? I had Lean Cuisine and Cheetos for dinner. Yeah, really. *sigh*
Salad, crab cake (my fav) and steak. With a fancy bottle of Bordeaux that we got as a present and have been saving for a special occasion. Yum!! I'm still stuffed though...

YUMMY!!!!

Sorry team, I'm falling behind in the chattiness department! And keeping up with all our posts! (Stooopid work getting in the way!

And also biking (which I can't blame work on). I'm behind in my biking goal. I'm running tonight and tomorrow, but I should have some free time to get some easy spinning during the week!

yogachic - 2010-03-15 11:28 AM G'morning and Happy Monday, bEASTies!!

I had a blast at my 5k race yesterday! I had no clue how fast to run since I'd never done a 5k before, didn't particularly train for it, and had run 18 miles on Saturday. So I just gave myself a pretty conservative goal time based on my usual speed on my shorter runs, taking into account that I've been mainly training for distance and not speed. I definitely felt like my legs were dragging during the race, but I made it through with a strong push to the finish and beat my goal time by 14 seconds! Yay!

Then at the post-race party, they were raffling off a bunch of prizes. . . And I won a free party (open bar for 2 hrs) for up to 40 people at a nearby bar. Scoooore!
Um. So your pre-race run was 18 miles? LOL That's awesome! Congrats on beating your goal time AND winning a Free Party! Wait, doesn't this mean we now have a place to PARTY? 'Cause we know you're going to invite all your Challenge teammates, right? I'll bet we can drink lots in a 2 hour period.
Maybe we can set a team goal! What a great raffle prize!!! Congrats on the great running!!!

I'd be down for a bEASTie party!! I betcha I can pull my own fair share of any team drinking goal we set Tongue out

HEY BEASTIES!!!!

I am so far behind in reading posts there's no way I can catch up.... Hope everyone is having a good week so far. I am on spring break (WOOOHOOOO!!!!) Unfortunately I have shin splints right now so I'm resting my shins hoping they'll get better before my 10k in 11 days. Good news is that it looks like I'll finally be getting a bike soon. Nothing fancy just a bike as right now I just want to get started and do my first tri in May. I figure once I get out of college and get a full time job I can start looking at getting a really good road/tri bike. Have a great Tuesday everyone!!!

I have no idea yet! My method is random to say the least... I don't really follow basketball other than during March. And then I love it! My husband is a huge Syracuse fan but don't really want to pick them. The last couple years I've picked based on cool names, by uniform color and I even let my girls pick some. Then it ends up being team names they they are funny to try to pronounce. It's always fun when "the 3 blonde chicks" (our team name) do better than the "man of the house"!

Nice dedication waiting for a lane. I'd have scrapped the swim and gone out for coffee instead!

If I didn't wait and do it, it would never have gotten done.

I think I'm going to have to revise my morning routine on swim days and just get there 20 minutes later.

Oh man. I'm not a particularly big fan of getting in the pool, so if that were me, I totally would not have waited, and it would not have gotten done.

Funnily enough, I actually like swimming. I just don't like that first moment when you're nice and dry and you have to get into the big wet pool. It helps if I have a swimming buddy so that can push me in :p

Lol, that sounds like my week every week, haha! Luckily i have a lot of tri/runner friends who think it's fun to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by running around from one Irish Bar to another, taking a shot at each bar. So that'll make for a nice interval workout in addition to being very festive for St. Patty's Day. Artemis - 2010-03-15 7:52 PM 15.75 miles during cycling class today. I can make my bike goal if I do at least 15 miles during each of the 5 classes left this month (including today's) and Judi's 50 mile bike ride.

My run goal is a little more iffy, although I do have a half-marathon this weekend.

G'luck on your half!
