Expert 1007 Missouri | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Sorry I can't help you out Kristen - I can never make those things work, lol! 5k tomorrow morning! I'm getting excited about it. The course is on a flat rail trail down by the river and I'm looking forward to seeing how well I can do. I've decided to push things a little and see how it goes (hoping for sub-30). Wish me luck! The race that I've been doing most of my run training for in April has finally posted the course maps. This race has always been a 10k, along with a 3mi and 1mi walk (walkers weren't supposed to enter the 10k but always did). This year they've changed it to 5k and 10k runs and the 1 mi walk. And the 10k course was going to change. I've been waiting to see what the changes were to the course before I signed up - I've been debating on just doing the 5k instead. The 10k course has changed a little but the best part is that it's being run in the opposite direction this year so we get to run down "The Hill" (the one I was complaining about last week) instead of up it! Of course, since it's a loop we'll still have some uphills to run, just nothing as bad as "The Hill". Guess I'd better get myself registered now. Janet2 |

New user 322 KY | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Janet, good luck in the 5K! It sounds like the perfect course to hit your goal time. I always get excited when I see courses advertised as "along the river" or "along the railway!" Best of luck to everyone else who is racing this weekend. |

I've tried doing it and couldn't get anywhere Janet - Good luck with your race tomorrow. Enjoy the new course of the other one too Hilde - I think Janet2's race tomorrow is 5k, but she hasn't decided which to do in April. Good luck with your race. |

Expert 972 Falls Church | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Good luck to all you racers! I hope the weather is/was perfect for you and your training pays off! (I am also jealous that you are racing this weekend). Kristen - I have no idea how to post pictures in the training blog. Some code or something (Hilde probably knows). Erin - No real idea on your trainer issue. Tire pressure too low? Trainer resistance to high? Trainer drum clean? I have decided to do a strength session once a week until May. My HIM is on June 10. Starting May 1, I'll get in 3 swims a week. Today is my daughter's first rowing regatta of the season. At the moment, I plan on parking about 4 miles away and running to the grandstand. Will watch her race and a few others and then run back to the car. |

Expert 1618 Temple, TX | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Kristen, I forgot to post about the pictures.... sorry! Do you want to put a picture on your dashboard, or just in your log? It pretty much works the same as in the forum, your picture must be loaded on a website or into your BT album. (I use Shutterfly, it's free). Once you get your picture uploaded, open it, right click on it, scroll down to Properties and click on that and highlight the http: address you'll see and copy it. Open your blog or dashboard, click in the tree icon and paste the http address in there, type anything in the other 2 boxes and you should see your pic appear below that, and then submit or whatever it says. Sometimes I have a picture enter my blog super huge, but you can click on it and then grab a corner and shrink it down to a reasonable size. Hope that helps!! Let me know if it doesn't and I'll try and describe it again!! |

Expert 1618 Temple, TX | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! So Tammy Tucker and I just finished our 10K this morning, on an absolutely beautiful course and Spring morning... and we both blinged it, whoo hoo!! 3rd AG for her, and 2nd for me! Wish I had taken a camera, it was just gorgeous out on those rural roadso overlooking fields of bluebonnets and mesquite trees! We are the 2 in the middle with the medals! |

New user 322 KY | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Congrats to our AG award winners! Wish there were ics of the race- it sounds like such a pretty course and sounds like it was a nice day, especially with the lack of wind! Btw, I love Tammy Tucker's stance in that pic. She looks very BA. A couple of you asked about my haiku that won the Mizuno socks. It was: Mizuno dos tres Three new socks for my next race Let's go get first place. Very cheesy, I know! But I can't complain about the socks. Good luck to everyone else racing this weekend. DH and I are pumped up for our next tri (Shelbyville Series #3) tomorrow morning. Hoping for no rain! |

Expert 1007 Missouri | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Hilde & Tammy - congrats on your race this morning and the AG awards! Erin - good luck to you and your husband tomorrow! Have a great race! I'm back from my 5k. Very small race - maybe 50 people total. It was the first year for this race, but probably won't be the last. Temps were pretty good - mid 50's with a slight breeze coming off the river. It wasn't chip-timed so I lined up pretty near the front so I could get an accurate time. I really wanted to see if I could run a sub-30. The first half went pretty well and we hit the turnaround a lot sooner than I expected to. Legs were feeling good too. Headed back to the start line and things were going well. I should have checked my time though. I slowed down during the last mile and if I had known how close it was going to be I would have pushed it a little more. As it was I finished in 30:08, 9 seconds off my goal time. It was still a great race though and I enjoyed every minute of it. Janet2 |

I don't like to look at Garmie during a race, I just run how I feel, and I have been burned by not knowing.... you'll get it next time for sure!! Go Erin on your tri!! And Louise on her 10K tomorrow!! |

Glad no one was hurt!! Hilde, thanks for helping me upload pics to my training blog. It worked!! I have been a lazy bum these past couple of days!! We had a busy weekend - out on both Friday and Saturday nights - so hard to find the energy to workout It was nice to have an easy week following my HM, but now I have to get back at it!! I'm starting the week off right and plan to go to masters swim tomorrow AM. |

New user 322 KY | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Janet- Congrats on your 5K! Almost exactly your goal time and sounds like you really enjoyed the race. Yay! Melanie, sorry about the collision- glad you're OK. But congrats on the $14 pink and purple guy- love those colors! Kristen, we all have our lazy bum days. Have fun at Master's! DH and I had our tri this morning and I'm super excited! Was kind of hoping for a win but ended up 2nd OA female since a new, fast girl showed up and smoked me by almost 3 minutes. But we both improved a lot and really happy with the results: http://www.headfirstperformance.com/Results/12Tri3.htm Also, wrote a race report in my log. Short story- great weather, panicky swim, smooth transitions other than finding a little, pink candle in my cycling shoe! Great time on the new bike (other than making a wrong turn which cost me about a minute) and really excited about a pain-free, happy run! |

Expert 1618 Temple, TX | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Melanie, ouch on the fender bender! At least the other guy was at fault... although I thought the guy that DID the rear ending is ALWAYS at fault, glad to hear that's not always the case! PITA to get car repairs done, but what can you do? Erin, congrats on 2nd OA female! Always depends on who shows up, but dang those fasties!! Sounds like all the MMMers that were racing had a good weekend, Yea us! |

Extreme Veteran 746 | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Melanie - Nice job on the 11 and like the new suit description. Why does swimming stuff have to match a bike? I just keep things matched sportswise - all black swimming gear (ok I have a dark blue swimsuit too but when wet it looks almost black anyway) silver helmet to go with a gold and silver bike and black pants with whatever color top for running. Anyway that said sorry about the rear ending - hope everything ends up ok Kristen - Enjoy the swim. Erin - congrats on the 2nd Female OA. Me - I seem to finally be finding my groove with the running except for the first interval. Still a bit worried about the progression of the run intervals but I'll take them as they come. If I can't do something one week I can always just hold over the intervals from the last week right? |

Expert 1618 Temple, TX | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Suzie, seriously?? All clothing has to match your bike, it's a law or something!! I'm all about the matching, and now I have bunches of clothes that don't match anything, which I wear for training but wouldn't be caught dead in for a race!! I'm all about the orange and lime green.... the green for my bike, the orange for my Newtons! Oh, I just ordered a bike jersey, check it out! It's designed by a retired guy, supposedly visible in dark shade as well as normally... and look, it has both colors!!! It was $70, but worth it not to get hit.... I may take this one and turn it into a sleeveless jersey for the summer, or may have to order another one... I got a medium because I like them a tad bit loose, we'll see maybe a small might be better. I'm hoping it gets here before our big 57 mile ride on Saturday!

New user 322 KY | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Hilde, I LOVE that jersey! Great colors- so retro looking! I grew up in a bedroom that had lime green carpeting and also had orange and white striped walls. I'm a 1978 model fwiw:-) Speaking of bike jerseys, bikewagon has had some great deals on ebay lately. Just snagged a new blue and silver Cannondale jersey for $16 plus about $8 shipping. Have any of you ever been part of a cycling team? DH and I watched the criterium races here in town Sunday afternoon. There weren't too many women but some of the girls I ride with are on a team and it looked like a lot of fun. I was chatting with them, too, and it sounds like they love it. |

Veteran 285 Austin | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Way to go MMMers on all the racing this weekend! I enjoyed my first 10K and think I'm going to throw in my first (stand alone) 5K some time in the next month or so. My 7 y/o daughter was with me at the 10K expo and they were advertising for the Bluebell 5K, featuring all you can eat Bluebell ice cream after the race. Needless to say she desperately wants to do this! Thanks everyone for all the encouragement and messages surrounding my 10K - I really appreciated it! Now on to my first tri in 10 weeks! The highlight will of course be that I get to race with Hilde. |
