I know I talk about my kiddos a lot, but they're just so damn adorable.

Last night was my daughter's first softball game. I love that kid. She's an athlete, she means business. She doesn't  complain, she plays hard, she's good. There are 12 girls on the team, they field 10 at a time. They played 5 innings last night, so 2 girls had to sit the bench every inning while her team was on the field, she played the entire game. She played shortstop 2 innings, left center 1 inning, and catcher 2 innings. I'm not an overly emotional person, I've been told I'd be a good poker player because you can never tell what's going on in my mind by the expression on my face, but I think I was probably glowing last night during her entire game.

I have 2 smart, funny, happy, healthy, althletic, beautiful kiddos. I am very fortunate.

Morning Ghoulies.

This is just a quick drop by. I have to be in Asheville for a doctors appt. in a little bit. The annual skin check, so it should be no big deal. Then maybe a swim.

We got in after 10:00 last night from the race. Or should I say 3 mile uphill walk. At least I finished it. Just another reminder to 1) LOSE WEIGHT and 2) RUN UP HILLS! The race started at 6:30 and was 2 hours away. Interesting time for a race but it is at a park/attraction (Grandfather Mountain) so they had to wait until the park was closed to do it. I meant to take a picture at the top but we (I) took so long, we had little time up there and it was starting to get cold.

Have wonderful FFFFridays all!

Morning Ghoulies.

Dang, Ann. She has been one sick lil' punkinhead lately!

I am off to drive to Asheville so the hubbie can pick up his car. This afternoon I am running up a mountain. Okay, it will be mostly walking, but still.

He's training for a marathon, he can run to pick up his car!

That made me snort coffee! That would be a tad longer than a marathon. It is about 30 miles, over the mountain divide.

No one ever said that marathon training would be easy?

Dang, I'm glad that you're not my coach.

X2!

Possibley after last nights humbling walk... I could use this coach!

Hills and wind are your friend, they make you stronger. Embrace the agony.

The first 9ish miles of the MCM are hilly, train on hills as much as you can!

It's not how fast you go that counts

But how far you really get

For the race is not just for the swift and strong

But for those who never quit!

Wow Ann!  Your poor little daughter!  Hope you can figure out what is making her ill real soon.

On the other hand, so glad that she enjoys the sports and is also good at them!

There are some speed tests you can do that can tell you if it's your internet connection. I can send you a link if you'd like.

Hello Ghoulies.  Crazy day here at work.  Six people were scheduled to work.  One called yesterday - funeral leave, and another called in sick today.  That left us with four people to cover us on the Help desk and the phones for the 5 hours that we are open to the public today.  So that meant no breaks for 5 hours.  I put out an emergency call to other branches and got an extra person to help us through the day.  My ABM was not going to put out the call, but I did and I told her why.  I wanted HQ to know about the staffing situation.  Not that I heard anything from HQ today.  LOL

So I have been having pigeon problems above my doors at the library.  The county's soulution was to put up owl statues whos head will move in the breeze.  So you want to see how effective they are?

That pigeon was there for several hours just looking at that stupid owl.

Hey Kendra.

LOVE the owl. People put them up around here to scare ducks and geese off their docks. I have seen ducks sitting on their heads.

I was in the midst of swimming today when it dawned on me that I was going to be out of town for election day and helping at the 5K tomorrow so I had to vote TODAY.... 60 miles from where I was at the moment.

I cut my swim short and got the vote in.

Tonight is dinner at someones dock that we don't even know. It is to benefit their builder who built an outdoor living area (with kitchen) for them. I guess they think we have money to hire him. Shhhhhhh... we don't, but we will spread the word to our friends who do.

Happy Saturday, Ghoulies.

Our local 5K race today went on with out a hitch. For a first time race, it went off wonderfully. It was to support our local school and the school kids decorated each race bib and fun run ribbon. It was a fun race to volunteer at. Next year, hubbie Jim gets to volunteer and I get to run.

Good afternoon Ghoulies!

Spent the afternoon hiking. Took the husband, the kiddos, and each kiddo took a friend. We hiked about 4 miles, on 4 different trails. We started up a STEEP trail, only about .75 miles to a place called Pole's Steeple (pictures on FB later). Then we hit an old fireman's road down to the Appalachian Trail and took that down hill to where we hit a road. Down the road a little ways there was a foot trail that winds around a stream Caleb and I have fished in several times.

It was a great day to hike, a little overcast, not real hot or humid. The kiddos were great! No whining or complaining, just talking, giggling, snacking, and peeing in the woods.

We ran into 3 thru hikers and talked them them for a few minutes. They started in Georgia on March 4, and would have just passed the halfway point earlier today. They had about 6 more miles to go before they camped for the night. They are doing about 25 miles a day. We wished them well and let them go, didn't want to hold them up for too long. It was a good day.

Morning ghoulies,

I am in Wilmington now. Drove most of the day yesterday to get here. Today was my day off and I figured, if I had to work, I would do it on Sunday and spend the day here today. Tomorrow is teaching a course all day, then another one in Raleigh on Thursday. I got here last night and walked a mile or so to the restaurant on the pier on the beach. A lovely dinner in the salt wind and then a walk back with the super-moon+1 rising over the ocean.

Today I'll either ride to Arlie Gardens if I can get the nerve to brave the traffic, (which is really incredibly light for what most people ride in) or just ride up and down the beach road.
