Veteran 478 Hoosier heartland | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod Wow, great pic Adrienne! Jo, I really loved hearing about your HIM experience. Last year was my first HIM, and I felt the same way. I loved every grueling minute of it. So jealous of the Macca pic...drool. Reece, I'm glad you get to participate this weekend. Looks like it's going to be a hot one. My bib number for Kansas 70.3 is #319. I've already been hydrating and relaxing to get ready for the big day. The weather looks like it's gonna get hot, hot, hot. Talk about dejavu. It totally reminds me of Racine last year. Well, I know how to better prepare and run in the heat. Hope everyone is having a great day!! |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod Just got back from the run. It started raining about 5 minutes in. Now am I not only the crazy fat neighbor lady who runs, I am the crazy fat neighbor lady who RUNS IN THE RAIN! Like I said in my blog, I'm sure all the high school kids are laughing at me, but I did have a mom cheer me on and clap for me and tell me she was impressed. It made the last 5 minutes to get home so much easier. |

Not an easy feat, especially when you are just getting back into it. |

So I have to prep the area in which I would like to plant them. Thankfully, its a cool day today. I also have to get out on the bike for a goodish ride today (25-30 miles), along with a quick little run. I came to some conclusions about my training and effort today, the whole thing is in my blog--long story short, I have noticed that I am not really trying, in training or racing--has anyone else had this issue, where you basically say, "well, I can do the distance, that's what matters, so speed really doesn't make a difference."--and you end up not pushing yourself? Or is it just me? Ah well, I should not dwell on it too much and just go. I often wonder too if I let myself off the hook too easy for training/racing. I probably do, but I figure if I make myself miserable I won't enjoy doing it and won't continue. That's my excuse anyway. If I had a coach I'd probably push harder... but this sport is expensive enough without paying someone to yell at me! |

Felicia, it totally made me think of you. I think I'm going to need a pair of these if they are still available in a month or two.
Oh, my!!! I could look really good in these. Are they Brooks? I'm guessing by the logo, but I'm not that great on identifying running shoes. |

Actually just the bike portion, I'm switching my individual entry to a relay. It will be a somewhat slow, very careful bike ride for me. I've got one friend lined up, looking for the third to complete the team. Oh, good! The race director let you change to relay. Which part are you still looking for? Do you have a good chance of finding someone? |

I was wondering what you do with the bum arm, Reece -- keep it to your side, assume? |
