Expert 962 | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Last night had an Apple Slaw from a recipe I got online. I loved it, kids tolerated it. Along with an apple chicken recipe that all the kids liked it was a successful foray into paleo cuisine. Tonight, Carne Asada, with roasted yellow bell peppers, and a garden salad. Did a spinning class this a.m. I don't like winter because I have no daylight to get out and actually ride except on the weekends. Spinning to me is a little better than treadmill running, but without landmarks or any sense of accomplishment I find it a bit monotonous. Was supposed to go for a run last night but the wife was later than expected getting back in so I'll knock one out tonight. Happy Tuesday |

I used to do some trail races when I lived in central Illinois - they were based around Danville, but I can't remember the name right now. (I probably have an old race shirt somewhere in my dresser...)I'm signed up for one as well! Any chance you live in central Illinois? I've been running with the local trail running group and they are great motivators! Maybe Kickapoo State Park? |

this one might be difficult to figure out, so this can be for any day this week. only eat 8 to 9 calories per pound of body weight. i know it might be a pain to figure out some dishes. but for the most part you can come close. there are tons of sites on the web to find out how much a piece of chicken breast is, how much a slice of turkey is. ect... and this part of the challenge is for speedknight, drink half your body weight in water or just make it an even gallon. lol. just kiddin Edited by brash69 2012-12-04 3:08 PM |

http://itspaleo.com/recipe/free-recipe/sides/apple-coleslaw/366/index.html I found the dressing to be good. The honey is a nice counter to the citrus. |

To get me through a whole day?!? Holy jeebus!! I'm reguarly taking in 3200 to 3300 per day and STILL losing weight! I think I'd feel run down if I cut back another 1100 calories! Oh, and, at my weight, it may as well be an even gallon. lol |

LOL!! Considerably less!!! I'm closer to 12 to 14 calories per pound. Like I said in my previous post, I'm STILL losing weight.
Which reminds me... I weighed in at 240 even, in uniform, this morning. With longer runs coming my way, and the daughter wanting to start cycling after our race on Saturday, I should be able to get more weight off. I'd like to be sitting at a solid 225lbs before my next try in early June (per current planning... we'll see if something earlier pops up). |

I decided to try paleo eating for 30 days and have to say I feel pretty good eating this way. I feel leaner - your body doesn't seem to hold on to stuff. And when I cheat (yes I cheat) it's interesting to see the effect on the body after only having done it a short time. Rice had a brutal impact so it's been a good experience at learning what works and doesn't. Less drastic though than a cleanse but all natural. |

It's such a different animal from road running! It certainly is. I am really enjoying it as I get to take the dogs out of the house and spend some quality time with them while they are youngish. They love it! I think that I'll have to try some other places when the mileage starts to get longer as there are only so many loops at the park down the road. |

And....goal achieved. Gross caloric consumption yesterday was 1785 or 8.34 calories per pound. Also burned about 600 calories on a run that was shortened by a fatigued dog I took with me. Can't wait for weigh in tomorrow. My body sheds pound quickly when I train on a restricted caloric intake. I also think my last weight was a little skewed still by Turkey day remnants in my system. We'll see tomorrow. Good morning. |

Expert 1187 Ontario | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Friday morning weighin - 141. My weight has bounced between 141 and 139 this whole challenge. Way too much 'cheating' with my eating to actually lose any and very sporadic exercise. I'll actually be happy to just stay where I am through the holidays. My work schedule from now until the 28th is insane and with 12 hour work days plus an hour commute its tough to fit in anything beyond work, eat, sleep. |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Happy Friday! My weigh-in looks remarkably like last week ... still at 149.8. Of course the "still" actually means that I went up to 151 due to about 3 days of eating badly and managed to get myself back down to 149.8 just this morning. If I counted all the pounds I've lost 2 and 3 and 6 times over, I've probably dropped 20 pounds during this challenge... Have a great weekend! |

Expert 962 | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Happy Friday downers. Had a great week and weigh in. Last week I couldn't train and I think I was still carrying some Thanksgiving around in my gut. This week my back felt well enough to train, and I really increased my veggie intake and boy did it pay off. The littel challenges here and there have helped me maintain my focus. Stepped on the scale at 206.6 Sub 200 here I come. |
