CLOSED Asalzwed - 2013-02-18 1:23 PM jmkizer - 2013-02-18 11:58 AM Asalzwed - 2013-02-18 12:50 PM How did your marathon go Janyne?? PR. 4 hours which well exceeds my goal for the race. Timing chip malfunction being sorted out. Loved the race! Loved the course! Thankful that it was a Saturday race 'cause it got icky out Saturday afternoon and snowed on Saturday night. Not big snow, mind you, but enough to throw Myrtle Beach into a tizzy. Race report awaiting timing info... Oh that's great. So it was probably nice and cool for the race. It's never fun waiting for a race to start in the cold but it's sooo nice to run in cooler weather. How was your blister/orthotics business? It was 39 at the race start and 51 when I finished so excellent running temperature. The wind was starting to pick up by the end but nothing too awful. Despite the timing issues, I really enjoyed the race. I would actually kinda like to do it again. I didn't have any blisters during the race. I ran them in the superfeet (over the counter inserts). The PT group that I worked with last year has an orthotics specialist and it's through them that I got the custom orthotics. He has them now. He acknowledged that they need to be redone and he was doing some research on them. To be honest, I'm in no great hurry at the moment. I have an HIM in a month and was thinking that it would be good to switch to the custom ones after that. Thanks for asking. |

I see that he hasn't posted to his BT training log in a while but doesn't he post to Training Peaks for his coach and then synch to BT? I'm hoping that he hasn't synched in a bit... |

Now off to do my six mile long run (first time ever)! It's going to be an endurance event, fo sho. Funny how those short sprints wreck your calves! I can run and run, swim for hours, even ride on the trainer for long periods. One Step class and I'm crippled! Good luck with your 6 miler! Report back....I so don't wanna do any work today! Well, I did it. The first three were tough, and a mental battle. I promised myself after mile three I'd take a water break (forgot water bottle), and after that the last three were easier (though not easy). Forging into unchartered territory is great. As for being an Adventist (a Christian denomination for those not wanting to take the time to look it up), we have a strong emphasis on healthy living. Our body being "a temple of the Holy Spirit", and all that. There are a lot of Adventists that are vegetarians in pursuit of healthy living. It's great, I like it. Well done on the six-mile training PR, Foxy! Ah HA! I caught another one of you. That's another coupon for me to Souplantation I lived in Loma Linda for seven years. 'Nuff said ... actually I was involved with two SDA churches (one we started, y'know with real music 'n' all, and we started an additional service at the other church that had contemporary worship music), tutored students at Loma Linda Allied Health, did rounds, volunteering, ER work, you name it I did it at Loma Linda University Medical Center. The fellow I got a legal separation from is SDA--his dad was a preacher/missionary based in Lebanon but went all over the Muslim world and was a scholar of Islam. His mom was a nurse and nurse manager forever. So we ate vegetarian. Sometimes he and I, the black sheep carnivores, would eat meat if we went out for a special meal. I do remember I drew the line when we were watching a cooking show where the lady was making cashew cheese and the stuff that was going into it was worse than regular cheese! I remain at heart a Seventh-day Adventist, but really, mah soul belongs to the Lawd and that's just that. (but it always seems to me Saturday is the Sabbath, which makes me very popular with Jewish boys). I have nothing but good things to say about the Adventists. Sure, there's weird people and bad apples in every kind of community, including religious ones, but man ... I was *loved* and taught how to *love* by example. Also, as far as Adventist missions go, it's evangelism by providing healing and teaching (health/medicine and education, very very very strong points), which is pretty much how I figure Jesus did it. Also, y'all ordain women . Okay, I'll get off the pulpit now. It's just a part of my being and past, and of many dear friends for life, that I cherish. So what's your story? |

SIL has 6 year old triplets two boys and one girl, Artemis and little Dimitra are gonna be best friends I'm sure! It's nice for her....and DH will be occupied a lot with his family so I get to do a lot more of what i want - training, travelling to watch/compete/stalk at races!
