Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good Morning. After DH left for work, I went back to bed and slept for another hour and a half. Sure felt good. I don't have to work until this afternoon. I hope to run this morning, but I have to make some calls about insurance for our hotrod. If I run out of time then I can still run tonight, though it will be cooler this morning. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ironannekidd - 2013-05-10 4:31 AM So last night after softball practice I was talking to the coach. He hates the shirts the girls got, too. He said he was mad when he picked them up. They're ugly. And he, too, thought putting girls in cotton in the summer was ridiculous. The President of the league (the chick who bought the ugly shirts) comes to home games, but not away games. We are going to buy the girls shirts for away games. Nice shirts. He said all of the parents were annoyed when they saw them. Next year the girls move up and are going to play in tournaments. He said they already decided that we'd buy our own uniforms, and if the league wanted to reimburse us towards them that would be fine. He doesn't want to have the girls going to play in tournaments in ugly cotton t-shirts.
Yeah for you and the coach! That will be so much nicer for the team. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Dee, and Kendra! Sounds like everyone has big plans for the weekend! WOOT!!! Caleb has a soccer game tomorrow morning, and Keri has a softball game in the afternoon. Tonight we are going to go buy some flowers for the mothers, and some fruit bushes for me. Not sure what's going on Sunday. Today's hike went well. I was just under 4 miles, it was something like 3.96. I passed a thru hiker going the other direction. There was an older man a little bit behind him, he stopped and talked for a few minutes. His son was the hiker ahead, he was doing the whole trail. This guy ws the dad, and he was just joining his son for a few weeks. We talked about the weather for the next few days. I warned him they were calling for severe storms this afternoon. I told them a few places close to the trail they could eat, too. I was hiking up to the lookout I'm sure I've told you about, Pole's Steeple. It's 3/4 mile to the lookout but it's pretty steep. I didn't go out to the lookout because some people coming down told me they saw several rattlesnakes. I was by myself and didn't want to take a chance. Got half of the yard mowed. The boy can do the rest. I'm going to get a shower. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So Keri is telling me all about the (she didn't use that word, I did) who was dressed all in black and right below their playground in the woods shooting right before the end of the school day. The school went into a Code Yellow. They would have done a Code Red, but they kids were getting ready to get on the bus. I told her I was suprised they let the kids out of the school. She said it was ok, there were policeman all around the building, and out surrounding the buses. She said they could see him from her classroom, which is on the first floor right by the playground. Her teacher locked the windows and closed the blinds. Thank you Mrs. Wright! What kind of psycho would do that??!!??!! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know you don't take a gun onto school property, and you don't shoot anything on school property. The 7th graders had been down there earlier in the week doing an archeological dig, Caleb was there yesterday. There were kids down there today. WHAT THE HE!! IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!??!!?? |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Happy Saturday. Jim is going to a friends funeral today near you Kendra. Just a drive down, attend, drive back. I opted not to do. Selfish of me, but I just don't want to be sad today. Plus I have stuff to do. Going out to start the yard stuff now. Ann, FWIW, the UP doesn't record "steps" on the spin bike. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Saturday morning Caleb played soccer in the rain. It was the day of the soccer picnic, so they have all the games scheduled as HOME games. We were sure they'd cancel, but they played... in the rain. Keri's softball game got rained out. I emailed her coach last night asking if he had all the sizes and #'s the girls wanted on their new shirts. I told him I wanted to get them ordered because printing would take a few days and I'd like to get them back ASAP. He replied back that he contacted the president of our organization and told her that the parents aren't happy with the shirts, and the girls weren't happy they didn't get the numbers they requested. They were asked which numbers they wanted, but the no one got them. He told her the parents offered to pay for new, nicer shirts. He said it would sound better saying all the parents volunteered to pay, instead of just one, and he doesnt' care where the money comes from. I don't think she will approve it. I think we should have done what Kendra said. It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Saturday evening Keri wanted to go for a run. So I changed clothes and we did about 1.7-1.8 miles. We walked a little, easy run, sprint, ran backwards, did sideways shuffles. We did run up all the little hills. She woke us up on Sunday morning looking for her running shoes. She had taken them off in our bathroom Saturday night when I tossed her in the shower. Her dad went with her yesterday morning, I stayed in bed. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mother's Day in my family was dangerous... for everyone for me. My sister smashed her hand, and tore it up. Keri fell on a rug down at grandma's. Donnie and Caleb were outside playing basketball, when they both went up for a rebound. They came down and Caleb hit Donnie in the nose breaking his glasses and putting a gash in his nose. Later in the evening they went out to finish the game and Milo was playing defense. Caleb went up for the ball, and Milo took his feet out from underneath him (clearly a foul). Caleb bruised his bum, and ripped his elbow up pretty good. Oy Vey! |

Milo clearly needs to pay attention to the rules for basketball. What a great weekend of moving around you had. Good times. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ironannekidd - 2013-05-13 7:26 AM So Robin, what do you think of your Up? I can't figure out the stopwatch part. I wanted to track the 5 mile loop I did yesterday but I didn't do something right. I am not in love with it, but I am liking it. It doesn't record biking or swimming, of course and I can't imagine it would stuff like kayaking and when you enter those, it doesn't seem to 'add" them to your steps for the day, but it does for your calorie burn so that is something. The sleep patterns are interesting. I too, tried to use the timer. I finally figured it out yesterday. You have to be quick between the long hold and the quick push of the button. I will keep mine, I think it will be useful over the long run to use for "tune ups" to keep the daily motion up. That is what I really got it for, not for tracking workouts, but to keep me moving the other times. Jim isn't even going to open his. He says he has a lot to keep track of now and dealing with a new device is not on the agenda. Especially for the cost of this one. I think I will get my money's worth, he doesn't. How are you liking it? |

How are you liking it? I think I feel about it the same way you do. I guess as long as it is counting my steps, I don't need to log the workout, too. Kayaking, or cycling will be interesting, especially if I can't get the stopwatch part working, I'll keep playing with it. I think there are too many buttons to push. Honestly, once a pattern is established it should be able to learn that I am sleeping. Being that it is right there on my wrist, and by a pulse, I wish it would do heartrate, too. I will keep it though. I do like seeing the active, and sleeping minutes, even if I know they aren't 100% accurate. Having a gps incorporated in future models could help with the problem I had when using the trekking poles on Friday. I did end up ordering a FitBit Flex. I want to compare the 2. Keri may eventually end up with one of them, probably the flex, because it has an adjustable wristband, and she doesn't need a phone to sync it to. She is amusingly interested in my Up, and wants me to sync it all the time so she can see the data. |
